Fifteen year old Rune has been living with her guardians since she "appeared" on their doorstep five years ago. They have home schooled her until recently. Her first day of public school, she meets a cheerful red-headed girl named Adel, and the two become fast friends.
That night, when the two girls return to Rune's house, they find Rune's guardians missing. Not only that, but there's no evidence that a house had ever even been there!
Rune and Adel get whisked away by a bright light to a land called Tiamat, where they have to live among demons, elves, faeries, monsters, and even angels, and protect both worlds from the evil sorcerers who rule Tiamat.
