On Katara's 15th birthday she begins to notice a change. Not only is she becoming a bender of her enemy's nature, but her father turns out to be someone completely different. Someone she hates with all her heart (not Zuko, lol). When she realizes that her parents were both benders, she also realizes that she's beginning to get both powers...water and fire. She needs help to train with fire or it could well up inside her and kill her. Her brother strikes a deal with Zuko out of desperation. Zuko reluctantly takes Katara into his care. He trains her, prepares her, and also...cares for her.
