The night is not like it once was, when the sun goes done the hunters come out and everyone else goes into lock down. Creatures of evil lurk in the shadows waiting for any unlucky person to be out past curfew. No one knows what these things look like other then the hunters, but they're not letting out the information. Watchers are the ones that the hunters answer to; they are the ones that watch the city at night and tell the hunters where the creatures are.
The main character is a young girl named Lizzy, her parents are watchers and she lives on her own. Her dream is to become hunter like her parents once were but everyone in her school thinks she’s crazy. A boy who she had meet once when she had been running late and was outside past curfew came to her school and threatened her and told her not to become a hunter. Being the daughter of two of the most successful hunters.
After being pinned to the locker, Lizy is even more detrumed to become a hunter at a young age. She needed to find out as much about the boy, but the next day the teacher said that he had dropped out of the school. This annoyed Lizzy, after fist pried she leaves school to go home only to find that her house has been broken into. She calls her parents to tell them but someone takes the phone, turning around to see that hunters where in her home.......
