Aimee Freeman's worst problems used to be keeping her family together and a dryer that had a habit of kicking off suddenly. When she receives a letter delivered by an owl of all things she is forced into a world of magic, witches and wizards, and creatures she thought existed solely in fairy tales. She's told that she is a Muggleborn student and is accepted into the school on a scholarship from the royalty that owns the school. But Aimee can't help, but wonder if this new found magic has anything to do with the father that abandoned her seven years ago. the mysterious man whose name she doesn't even know.
When she arrives she's at first met with problems in the form of her classmates. Not only does she have to get used to sharing a room with a stranger she's managed to anger one of the most powerful students in the school and in doing so restarts a war between to families with a long standing blood feud with Aimee in the middle. but a war among its students isn't the worst thing in the school that year. A murderer is on the loose. It starts with mysterious disappearances of Muggles in Salem, but when a student is killed the school faces the terrifying thought that the murderer is in their very walls. And stalking the students. With a murderer dodging her steps, and the Muggles growing suspicious Aimee stops worrying about passing classes and begins wondering if she can even survive the year.
