“They’re an ancient group of species, all varying in characteristics, that used to rule all of Ker-rim. They disappeared after the last Mage War, and the humans forgot about them. Thus the name ‘forsaken’.”
“What do you mean? I’ve never *heard* of these ‘forsaken’!”
“No living human has. The Magi did that on purpose; you see, the last Mage War was actually fought between the Magi and the Forsaken. The Forsaken were too powerful for the Magi’s comfort, so they decided to destroy them. Only it turned out to be a lot more difficult than that. After about a decade of blood-spilling on both sides, the Forsaken just... disappeared.”
“And how did you find this out?”
“Books, youngling, are always a good thing to spend your time on.”
