| Biography: | I disagree with Swift proposal of fatten up the children and sell them in a meat market. Children are human beings and are not to be use as cattle. That is just because the children are poor and there is a lot of them on the street that its the right of the rich to move them anyway possible. Even if it means to fatten them up, to sell in the market, eating them like a pig, but Swift had the right idea. Moving the kids off the street and keeping them a burden on their families.
One ways is that the rich Irish people can build a school for them and they can get a education, so in the furture the won't be poor. So they won't be a burden one society. That in Swift's opioion that they won't become lazy opportunists. That they won't let there children become beggars on the street. Lowering the nation's state even more after England lowed it.
Another way is that if using the chidren is the only way to move poor from the slums instead of using them for meat is to use them for work. Use them for jobs that no one wanted to do. That the children can help there families and stop being a burdan. That they can become in the furture a working class person of Ireland.
Swift is a member of the Irish upper class. While he professes sympathy for the plight of the poor Catholic population, he also holds a fairly contemptuous opinion of them. He takes great pains to enumerate the advantages of his proposed project for the wealthy, who would presumably be called upon to implement it. Yet Swift's irony implicates this moneyed class for their monetary greed, their personal indulgence, their unflagging attention to their own self-interest, and their indifference to the state of the poor and the state of the nation as a whole. That his argument of using poor children as meat is barbaribarian and unrealist in most of the surealos. |
