Biography: | Ravenreux is a fancy play on my horse's name, Raven (who is not black, but a beautiful flaxen sorrel). She is my main source of financial expenditure and this 20-year-old girl's best friend (Yes, that's right. My horse is my best friend...right after my Mom. I know, freaky). I've had Raven for almost 5 years now, trained her myself (I hold all the bragging rights), and she is the reason I'm currently taking courses on my way to becoming a professional horse trainer. (You can see pics of her on my homepage...click the link above.)
I've always been an avid reader, Black Beauty being the first 'real' book I ever read as a 5-year-old (Who would've guessed that?). Ever since then I've always carried a book with me and that eventually led to me writing my old little stories. It only grew as my favorite hobby outside of emptying my bank account on equine paraphernalia. Now I carry a single subject notebook with me and almost any free time I have is spent filling it from cover to cover (It's no wonder I aced my creative writing classes in high school). My Mom has told me on countless occasions that I should write as a career because I devote so much time and energy into it (plus she thinks I have a true talent for it...aw, thanks Mom!).
That's how I write my fics, too. I write them all out, chapter by chapter, in my notebooks (I have a drawer full...). I know it sounds archaic, but it works for me and I make very few changes transferring my work from paper to print. I'm constantly thinking up new ideas for fics, to the point I have to explore them all a little bit in order to clear my head on the ones I already have. It helps me cull the ones that I don't think have much promise for good stories.
That same logic applies to the fics I have actually posted. If I don't see at least a marginal response, I tend to get depressed about the fic in general. I hate not pleasing my audience, because that is the entire reason I post my fics. I want to entertain people through words like I am when I read a good book, or fanfiction (which I read tons of...almost always reviewing on ones I thoroughly enjoy). I can get disheartened when there is a lack of enthusiasm, but there is an upside. I was taught to always finish what you start, no matter how unpleasant the task may be, and to be satisfied with your work. So, I may take forever to update a fic, but I promise that I will eventually finish it. I couldn't leave them undone...it would honestly drive me insane.
Fic(s) on Hold:
The Hybrid- An epic AU centered around Vegeta and Bulma- who is a DemiSaiyan. Once childhood friends, they are now wary allies against the most feared being in the universe-you guessed it- Frieza. Forced to work side by side, they find out more about each other than they thought they knew. Has some K/CC and R/C thrown in there too.
A Beautiful Lie- A GT era AU where Chikyuu is ambushed from orbit, nearly wiping out two-thirds of the planet's population. The Z fighters are forced to yield and in doing so, go into hiding. A strong post-apocolyptic/refugee vibe with the Second generation finally stepping into the limelight. A T/M, G/B fic with dashes of V/B and G/CC mixed in. The title is taken from the 30 Seconds to Mars song...I heard it and the name just clicked for me.
I am currently writing up a whole slew of chapters for each of the previously noted fics. I've had trouble maintaining enthusiasm for them both, but I refuse to leave them unfinished. I promise that they will be eventually completed.
Current Fic(s):
Suffer The Fray- This is my first attempt at an Inuyasha fic, so we'll just see where it leads. It is a continuation of the anime, picking up five years after the final episode. Kagome has left to her own time, only to return after five years to help her friends finally defeat Naraku. That also means she must confront her conflicted emotions about Inuyasha and the hanyou himself. Also touches on the relationships between Miroku/Sango and Sesshomaru/Rin. Drama and battles galore, so what's not to love? Categorized as an AU, but it's really more of a canon. (The response to this fic is amazing...to the point where I've even started dabbling on a sequel. Yes, you can all jump for joy.)
And finally, to all those that stop by this page or read my fics...Please Review!!!!!
I'm a review whore and I'm only partially saddened to say it. K? Thx.
