well, i could post an extremely long list of all of the anime/manga i like but that would take up way too much space and time for me to recall since i lost my running list. (and who really likes going thru those lists anyway?? Here's the thing: I absolutely *HATE* that goody-two-shoes image that DBZ and DBGT have been trying to shove down our throats. I think Gohan is a lot more tortured than he lets on and I think Trunks is a little bit more rebellious than that rag GT paints him out to be.
In GT, Trunks *turns into* this gay millionaire. (And yes, they do make him out to be a fag - no offense to actual gay people who may be reading this.) And if you look at him at the end of DBZ, you should be saying with me: 'What the hell?!'
At the end of DBZ and in the alternate timeline, he had so much potential to be a real rebel and not be as much of the pansy - yes, i said pansy - that he is portrayed as in GT. In DBZ when he's a kid, he has a reputation for getting into trouble and he does the exact opposite of what he's told and he really doesn't care what anyone thinks; Trunks is gonna do what Trunks is gonna do.
What i don't understand is why they never translated that same character and spirit into GT. I guess, it wouldn't have made him very kid-friendly as a troubled youth. Cause let's face it, he could be a little troubled - especially if he went to school like the rest of us. |
