Biography:I stand silently on the tall cliff edge that juts out over the ocean; the waves crash against the rock, which is flat under my feet, warmed by the day's sun. I listen to the silence, then to the soft sounds of the ocean and wind as they dance, entertwined around me, catching on the thin leather of my loose, sea green skirt and midriff top. The spray of the ocean welcomes me, settling on my heated skin; I open my eyes and look directly in front of me, accross my ocean, at the golden pools of light that flicker on it's curvy, glassy surface. The sun is setting, signaling the end of another day, and without glancing behind me, I know that the full moon is rising.
The fishermen and soldiers here have a nickname for me... "The sea nymph with the sound of the surf in her eyes." Perhaps it is true; I'm not like them, or the other village girls. Unlike them, I know not my own story, or who I really am.Perhaps I'll find out someday. Perhaps not. I do not know. All I can do is listen to the sounds of my sea at twilight...
But wait. Something is calling me; something soft and sweet and heartbreaking. Maybe this is my answer; maybe this is my truth. The ocean... why did I not think to do this before? It's all so simple... the waves, the sky, the wind, the air; they beckon me closer, and I find myself stepping towards the edge of this cliff. My toes curl around the edge and I take a deep breath, then lean forward and dive; the air rushes around me, filling me with it's joy; a light surrounds me, engulfs me, and suddenly everything is bright... so bright...

~*~

A young fisherman stood, slamming his mug of ale down hard on the sturdy wooden table as he watched in disbelief ad the girl hurled herself off the cliff. No, not hurled; she seemed to have floated, or stepped off. His eyes widened in shock as he saw the wind and water that she had always spoken of rush up around her; though she was only midway down the cliff, they emcompassed her, wrapping her in their embrace; and suddenly, there was a blinding flare of light. When he again was able to see, she was gone; not a trace of her. The wind and water were calm, in a way that had not been for as long as anyone could remember. As the young fishermen silently watched a small group of people run quickly to the base of the cliff, looking for signs of her alive or otherwise, he knew they would find not a trace.
They didn't.
