You definitely have a solid grip on the style - this is very recognizably Hiei. The technique for muscle definition that you used with the gesture lines is well suited to this type of line art, but is better suited to a more anime-style of coloring; as songie suggested, you may want to try out a bolder media. If you have the opportunity to use a computer painting program (even a free one, like those that come packaged with digital cameras and such), this is a great image to work with - the clear, solid line art and opportunities for bold coloring make it a great first image to use. Also, I agree with Fan on the cropping - if your image runs right to the edges of the picture, then it tends to look more complete, as it seems that the image runs off the edge. Keep up the good work! It's great to see you progressing. :)

I think if you use a different mediums from the one that you are currently using (colored pencils right?) you will be able to convey the color tones in more brilliant shades. Copic markers, Prismacolor Markers, or using blending pencils will make the colors really stand out and make them picture look so much beautiful then it already is. Nice pose and very interesting. I think an addition of a brighter color to the background would make the image look more finished. I would also suggest croping the image on the very bottom so the image looks like it continues after the paper ends. Oveerall it looks great and is very well drawn.~Fanilia

The intense look in Hiei's face is great. The coloring and shading look okay, but maybe you could add different shades of the skin - making contrast between the shadowed and highlighted areas. His head kind of looks small compared to his body. Other than those minor things, the drawing looks nice.

Those are definately some very bulging and built muscles there. What I can say is that your colouring, shading and overall grip of the body is ok. There could be a bit of blending in the colour, and his right shoulder is the same size as his head. Otherwise it's quite a nice picture. The way you've defined your muscles reminds me of Dragon Ball/Z/GT... but that's not nessisarily a bad thing. Good work, keep it up. ~Sisi, ^^
