Title: Indian Vector [ Miscellaneous :: Computer / Concept Art ] By: Yuugi-chan
Uploaded On: Aug 7 13:44:50 2006
Charcters: Renderings
Description: This was my first-ever vector drawing, and I have to say, I think it came out rather well for a beginning Adobe Illustrator user. This was made in my summer graphic arts class, and done entirely on Illustrator with resizing done on Photoshop CS2. Construct read more

This is a fantastic job for a first attempt at vector drawing. I'm not much of a vector artist myself, but having attempted it in the past, I know how difficult it is to work with. You've done a great job of capturing the original image here. I love the fantastic colors and the expressiveness you gave the piece. It seems a tad bigger than would be ideal for web viewing, but since you mentioned this was for a class, bigger is probably better. Even the thumbnail looks great on this one, which is a testatment to how well-executed the piece is. Great work!

I must say this drawing is one of the reasons I looked into vector graphics programs. You did a great job with this image. I hope you continue using it as a style of art.~Fanilia

Wow, great work Yuugi. I know nothing about vector drawing so I can't comment on the technique, but the final result is amazing. I only noticed a few things that strike me as odd in this image. The bottom lip looks weird. I know it'd be lighter than the top but the way the lighter portions are put together on it looks strange. As for the eyes, I don't see why the one brown strip is put just above the iris on both... and why the pupil is so small. o_O Even if it's really bright where the person is, they still seem kinda small, in my opinion. Overall though, the image still looks stunning, especially the shading on the cloth. Thanks for submitting to FARG! =D

I know so little about computer drawing in general and even less about vector artwork. I can't give a proper critique but I can say that I love this. The way that the shading along the mouth is. Many people have a hard enough time drawing an older person at all. With or without pencils and you've done it in something that's acknowledgedly hard to do anyway. good work. Keep it up.

'Rather well'? More like 'really great.' I remember having a hard time making decent vector artworks with Illustrator in my 2D design class. And for a first-time vector drawing, it turned out really good. As such, I can only give one or two in-depth critiques. If you look closely, you can see gaps of the base color between the darker shades and the cloth over her head. You might want to extend the darker shades a bit further. This is a great vector drawing. Awesome job on it.
