I really REALLY like this. THe blue colors all flow so nicely together, and I love the windswept look. The little fireflies buzzing about are a cute touch. My only recommendation is to study the drawing of trees a bit and make them seem as real and flowing as the rest of the picture.

Most of my non computer medium is pencil. At a glance the scene is very peaceful. The motion of the hair and the dress suggest a storm is coming. There is too much movement for it to be a nice breeze but the cross movement of the grass and the trees is the kind of movement you could get right before a storm hits. I would like to have seen a little more definition in the far bank of the stream. Overall the combination of blues is quite enjoyable.

This is a nice piece. I wish that there'd have been a little more information in the description of the piece - size, intent, description of the scene, etc. I'm going to base my review on this being a 9x12 that was drawn in the Prismacolors with the wide areas of color being done in the chalk pastel and the scene being of a girl standing before a river; that's what the image suggests to me. There are three things that stand out the most to me, almost equally: direction of motion, lighting and blending. The lighting and blending comes largely from trying to combine the Prismacolors with the chalk; the two media blend differently, and thus they will have a hard time working together effectively. There is also a conflict in direction of motion in this piece; the line direction in the trees suggest the breeze is moving in the opposite direction the girl's hair and dress is moving. The reeds on either bank of the river also show a conflict in which direction the breeze and/or the water is moving and brings the motion of the water to a near standstill. While it's tempting to use a more firm media like the pencils for line art, try using just the chalks; layer the chalks so that the large areas of color are put down first and work up through the levels of detail. You can actually get very detailed with pastels, but it requires a bit more patience and practice. However, it will make it easier to keep things like lighting (including the fireflies) and direction consistent.
