Awww... he's so cute... This is an illustration for my story, Chibi Vegeta. He's supposed to be about 1-2 years old. I think I captured the perfect expression on his face, with surprise, puzzlement, annoyance, and denial all playing parts. He looks like he's about to suck on his tail (or was just caught doing so ^_^) which is something of a running gag in the story. I loved drawing the teddy bear and the blanket with those little carrots. *grins* They add just the right touch.
This is my very first attempt at drawing a baby. I'd been wanting to draw this for a while, but had put it off due to a lack of instruction material and the right kind models. After a while, due to lack of money to buy art books and impatience on my part, I decided to just try it anyway and see where I got. Had to look through a LOT of images on the web to find suitable models, and was frustrated by a lack of decent baby Vegeta pictures. A lot of how I drew him was guesswork and experiments, but I think they turned out well for the most part. I was also trying to capture an angle I'd never tried before: looking down on him while he's laying down. Was harder than I thought it'd be. There are a few mistakes in there which I'm going to refrain from pointing out, since most people won't notice them. As for his hair being chopped off like that... NOT my fault! The computer my scanner is hooked up to is broken, so I had to rely on a friend to scan my pictures for me. She didn't scan either the black and white or the color version very well. *sighs* But I've already made two trips to her house (half hour drive away!) for this and I want to put these up on the web. Maybe when my own scanner is hooked up to a working computer again I'll rescan them, but for now, this is what I'm putting up.
