I love this picture! ^_^ Vegeta's mixed emotions displayed in his expression fit perfectly with what I had intended, and everything about it turned out really kawaii. The carrots, the teddy bear, the tail whic he was either sucking right before the picture was taken or was intending to suck on... it's all great. He's such a cute li'l chubby baby!
As I said before in the artist notes of the black and white, it is NOT my fault that his hair got chopped off at the top. My scanner is hooked up to a broken computer right now, so I had to rely on a friend to scan my pictures for me, and she goofed. -_-; I may eventually rescan them, but I really don't like driving half an hour on busy highways to her house just to scan pictures.
Anyway, this was my first baby picture, so a lot of it was guesswork. Since I lacked any guides or instruction on how to draw babies and had few good model pictures, I relied mostly on intuition and experimentation to get what you see before you. Usually I stick with solid black hair for the DBZ characters, since that's how they're portrayed in the anime, but this time I decided to try shading Vegeta's hair. I liked how it came out, so I kept it. Everything else, though, is done with a gradual shading that I think contrasts well with the hair. ^_^ There are some mistakes in there that I'm not going to point out, since most of them won't be noticed unless I mention them, but on the whole I think this picture turned out really well.
Illustration for my story, Chibi Vegeta.
Media used: This is a photocopy of the original black and white (I don't like ruining the originals in case I want to color them later in a different way). Used Prisma Color Pencils for the color, and a black ball point pen to go over the lines of his body after the coloring was done. |
