Sailor Goddess
A Ranma One Half Fan Fiction
By Michael A. Ivins

Ranma, and all of his/her friends and family are the creation of Rumiko Takahashi. I do not own any of them, nor do I own any of the characters from Ah! My Goddess or Sailor Moon. I'm writing this for fun, not profit. I'm so poor that suing me wouldn't do you much good.

WARNING: This is a sequel to a previous fic I wrote called, “Nodoka's Lessons.” That was a Lemon fic. While there won't be as much emphasis on sex (it will be more implied than described) in this sequel, it will deal with subjects like incest. If these subjects offend you, stop reading.

Chapter 2
Ranma - Goddess of Yin and Yang

Seeing Ranma staring at the phone handset with a puzzled expression, Akane asked, “Is something wrong?”

Shaking her head, Ranma replied, “I must have dialed it wrong.” She shrugged and dialed it again.

This time the voice that answered was a young man who said, “This is La Roma Italian. How can I help you?”

Ranma said, “I'd like to order the lasagna family meal for delivery. I'd like for the lasagna to have beef and marinara.”

The voice on the phone replied, “That's the lasagna family meal with beef and marinara. Did you want that family meal for four or for six?”

Ranma thought about that for a moment. “Well, there are only three of us here. Hmm. You know pregnant women often say they're eating for two?”

“Uh, yeah.”

Ranma told the man, “Well, there're three pregnant women here.”

There was a pause as the man at the restaurant considered this. Finally he said, “Congratulations ma'am. However, you and the other ladies would be better able to judge how hungry you are than I would. Did you want the lasagna family meal for four or for six? There is a complementary beverage included in the family meal for six.”

“Hold on a minute.” Ranma held the phone away from her face and turned to ask, “Hey Mom, Akane, should we get the family meal for four or six. I missed lunch so I'm pretty hungry.”

Nodoka and Akane exchanged a look. Both nodded. Nodoka said, “Get it for six. I don't think any of us had lunch today.”

Ranma nodded and took care of the final details of the order. When she hung up the phone a mere few seconds later the doorbell rang. Ranma frowned and looked at the phone. “That can't be our food so fast.”

Akane was closest to the door so she went to answer the bell. When she opened the door she found a pretty teenaged girl standing there. The visitor had black hair and she had a long handled mallet sheathed on her back and some odd marks that appeared to be tattooed on her forehead and cheeks.

“Can I help you?” Akane asked.

The girl said, “I'm here to see Saotome Ranma.”

A little angrily Akane said, “If you were promised an engagement to Ranma, he's already married. (Stupid Genma.) Besides that you're a little young to be a fiancé.”

The girl looked confused. “I'm not engaged to Ms. Saotome. I'm Skuld, Norn Goddess of the Future. I'm here for Ranma's Wish.”

The kid thought she was a goddess? Okay, so she wasn't a fiance, then. This had to be another one of the crazy people that popped up in Ranma's life from time to time. Akane turned and called out, “Oh, Ranma? Could you come here? There's a (snicker) goddess here to see you.”

“A goddess?” Ranma walked up to the genkan to look at the visitor. She looked over the pretty teenaged looking girl with the strange markings on her face. Come to think about it, she decided that she wouldn't put it past Genma to get her male side engaged to a goddess, though she couldn't imagine how such a feat could have been accomplished. She finally said, “I'm Saotome Ranma. Look Miss, if you're another fiancé, you're too late. I'm already married.”

“I'm sorry, but I just told…” She paused to consult a piece of paper in her hand, “… your wife that I'm not engaged to you.” She looked at the paper then back up at Ranma as if trying to fathom how a woman could have a wife. She shrugged.

Ranma looked the girl up and down, trying to assess her. While she looked like she might just be another one of the crazies that popped up, there was the feeling of enormous power radiating from her. The very strength of that ki supported the girl's claim that she was a goddess in truth.

While the girl didn't seem to be hostile, it still might be wise to tread carefully. She asked, “Uh, other than constantly messing up my life, why would a goddess want to talk to me?”

Now feeling herself on firmer ground, the young goddess recited the memorized speech, “Saotome Ranma you have been deemed worthy to receive a Wish. You have been selected by Kami-Sama Himself.”

Ranma was about to snap off an angry retort about what she thought of Kami-Sama but stopped and remembered her manners. “Please come in and sit down. I think we need to talk about this.”

As the girl seated herself, Nodoka asked, “Would you care for tea, Miss Skuld. It is not often that one entertains divinity.” The young goddess nodded.

Whispering in Ranma's ear, Akane demanded, “Why are we treating her like she's the real thing?”

Ranma whispered back, “With the power I read in her ki signature, if she's not a goddess she's pretty close. She's got to be at least as strong as Saffron. I think we should treat her like she is what she says, at least for now.” Akane nodded and went to sit down.

An awkward silence settled over the group in the living room while Nodoka was in the kitchen preparing the tea things. When the young goddess had a cup of tea in her hands Ranma asked, “What was this about a wish?”

The young girl perked up. “That's right. You've been selected by Kami-Sama to receive this wish.”

Ranma nodded. Still being careful of her phrasing she said, “Yes, you already said that. I'm sorry, but the way my life has gone I've learned to mistrust magic stuff. I've especially learned to mistrust magical stuff that promises to be for my benefit. I've heard stories of people who have been granted wishes that turn out to not be what they wanted at all because they didn't phrase the wish right.”

Skuld had been warned that this might be the reaction. She said, “I'm sure most of what you have heard was in fairy tales and legends. Please be assured it is not my intention to trick you. One of the main reasons you have been given the Wish was because of the prayer you made to Kami-Sami. He heard you and feels you have suffered and are deserving of this Wish to compensate for the trials you have done through.”

Ranma considered that. Deciding to remain cautious she asked, “Do I have to just make the wish or could I ask you about possible wishes first?”

The young goddess tried to reassure Ranma, “We want you to feel comfortable about your Wish. Feel free to ask any questions you want. It is much better to make your Wish when you know more about the process.”

The redhead nodded and seemed to be weighing that. “I made my prayer that my babies would be born healthy and normal and that they could grow up without all the weirdness that has plagued my life. Can I make that my wish?”

Evidently the goddess had been expecting the question because there was no hesitation in her answer. “Your babies will be born healthy without a Wish. You don't need to use up your wish on that.”

Ranma felt a flash of irritation and frowned, then pointed out, “My babies being born healthy was just part of my question. Are you saying they won't be normal?”

“Uh… I've been told that your babies will be very special. Destiny holds many great things for them.” She wasn't expecting for the pregnant woman to try and trip her up verbally. The young redhead seemed to be treating this conversation like a challenge or a kind of battle of wits.

Ranma was indeed treating the conversation like a challenge and was considering her words carefully. “What do you know of the life I've led?”

The goddess replied, “I've been briefed on it.”

The red haired mother-to-be sighed. “Every mother wants her children to be special. After my crazy life I'd be happier if my children were only special to my spouse and me. Could I wish that they be released from this `destiny' and allowed to grow up as normal kids?”

Skuld had been warned that this might come up. “Your children will play a vital role in the future. They may be responsible for saving the world.”

Ranma cocked her head at an angle as she considered those words. The answer seemed to follow closely on the concept she had that the gods were playing with her. She said, “So I guess that's a `no' to my question.” She turned a glare on the teen goddess that would have made mortal run for cover. Goddesses are made of sterner stuff, so Skuld just shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

Feeling disappointed and angry, Ranma still tried to hide the full extent of her feelings. Even if she couldn't protect her babies maybe there was a way to salvage something out of this. “Ok, let's try this: I've decided that I actually like my curse. I like being able to change from male to female and back. Other people I know who have the curse don't like it so much. Could I wish that everyone I know who has a Jusenkyo curse be cured? I mean the ones that want to. You can't cure my father right now because he's stuck as a woman at the moment and pregnant. You'd have to wait until after she gave birth to cure her.”

Skuld looked uncertain. “You don't want to be cured?”

Hadn't Ranma just said that? Was the goddess deliberately being difficult? With a tone of strained patience, Ranma said, “That is what I just said.”

From the information she had received in her briefing the young goddess explained, “Those curses don't just happen by accident even if it may have seemed that way to you when you got yours. They can be divine punishment, the result of destiny or even a divine blessing as a reward for deeds done in the current life or a previous one. Mostly one of the curses can't be cured until the one bearing the curse has learned the lesson it was imposed to teach.”

Curious in spite of herself, Ranma asked, “Really? Which one of those was mine?”

The goddess consulted her sheet of notepaper. “Uh, destiny mostly.”

Ranma seized on that. “'Mostly?' So was I being punished for something too?”

Skuld wasn't sure why this woman was being so challenging. She looked at the piece of paper on which she had jotted the notes from her briefing. “Well you were being punished for the attitudes you had against women. I know it wasn't your fault because of the way your father raised you, but you still had the attitude. In spite of that there was really more blessing than punishment.”

Ranma bent her head with tightly closed eyes and rubbed her fingers over her forehead. What patience she had was eroding further. When she finally raised her head she said, “It must have been something I did in a past life. I sure can't think of anything I did in this life that the girl curse would be a reward for.”

After some more thought she asked, “How about this? Could I wish that you get the hell out of here and all the Kamis stop messing with my life? Could I just get through my pregnancy, give birth and along with my spouse and mom spend the rest of my life raising our kids without any more `divine interference?' How about that?” While her tone was getting harsh, she kept the volume of her voice level. She wasn't going to shout! Akane and Nodoka could tell the degree of effort Ranma was expending to at least appear relatively calm. The air in the room was chilled from Ranma's use of the Soul of Ice.

Skuld was sincerely regretting being the one to get this assignment. By her expression it was clear that she wanted to be anywhere but in the Saotome home at that moment. Finally she said, “I can't grant that. There is destiny involved and Heaven can't promise never to get involved in your life or the lives of your children.”

The temperature in the room dropped another degree as Ranma struggled to maintain control. “Look, Skuld-Sama you seem like a nice… goddess but I'm afraid you're going to have to back to that office of yours having failed in this assignment. Since you can't seem to grant a wish for anything I want, I guess I won't be making a wish. I think you should just take your wish and just…” She stopped before she said something offensive.

Still wanting to avoid shouting, she kept the volume of her voice level but couldn't keep a certain amount of venom out of her tone. “…Leave! Just get out of here. The only other wish I could think of is one I'm sure you'll say no to as well. That would be if I was one of the kamis myself and doing the interfering instead of being interfered with. I know you're not going to do that.”

The black haired goddess had looked on the verge of tears but now her head snapped up and her eyes went wide. “You would wish… to be a goddess?”

Momentarily confused at the question, Ranma's control slipped almost completely. Still avoiding shouting, she responded, “What? Oh yeah, sure. Why not? Let's make that my official Wish. I wish you to make me a goddess. Or… no, wait, wait, wait! So I can still change back and forth from male to female, make me both a god and a goddess. Yeah, that sounds good. Now why don't you just tell me `no' like you did to all that other stuff and get the hell out of here. I'm getting tired…”

She trailed off as she saw the marks on the goddess's face light up and her eyes go blank. Suddenly a shaft of light appeared that seemed to shine through the ceiling. Within that shaft of light the young goddess floated up off the floor to hang suspended halfway between the floor and the ceiling. Her body was arched and her arms were extended out to her sides. In a voice that sounded amplified and seemed to come from everywhere at once she said, “Wish granted!”

“What the hell…?” Ranma's question was cut off as another shaft of divine light speared through the ceiling and enveloped her completely. “Urk,” was all she got out as she felt her feet leave the floor and a sensation of softly soothing warmth flooded her body. There was also a sensation of power coursing through her unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

Watching this, Akane and Nodoka felt totally confused. As they watched Ranma floated up into the air like the goddess. Her scarlet locks, which had been down to her shoulder blades, now grew to reach just past her butt. She appeared to grow even taller than she had been, now reaching a height of more than six feet. Her clothing morphed into a kind of elegant gown that left one shoulder bare and showed a fair amount of cleavage. On her forehead there appeared a pale blue teardrop mark and one of dark blue and smaller ones on each cheek. As they watched each of the light blue teardrops seemed to flip over so it was point downward. The shapes moved together with the point of one curling around the large end of the other. Then a thin black line formed around the whole, making it into in Yin/yang symbol.

When her feet touched down on the floor again Ranma felt the sense of power. She could also see she had a glowing aura unlike what she had before. She looked at her glowing hands and demanded of the black haired goddess, “What just happened?”

Wordlessly Nodoka took a compact from her purse and handed it to Ranma. The redhead snapped open the case and looked at her reflection in the mirror. With her other hand she rubbed at the marks on her face. She turned to the black haired goddess and demanded, “What did you do to me?”

The young goddess was puzzled by Ranma's tone. “I… I granted your wish. You are a goddess now.”

Ranma turned and banged her head against the wall. After doing that a few times she pulled away from the dent she had made and said, “You really need to learn the difference between sarcasm and a real wish.”

The teen goddess looked like she was about to cry. “You mean you didn't want to become a goddess?”

The new goddess rubbed her fingers over her forehead and tried to explain. “You turned me down for everything I wanted to wish for. I was so frustrated, I said the most absurd thing I could think of at the moment, which was to make me a kami. When you asked if that meant did I want to be a goddess, I just took it up a notch and said I wish you to make me both a god and a goddess so I could still change sex. I expected you to say no, just like you did to everything else.”

Skuld walked over and put her hand on the taller goddess' shoulder. “I really hated it that I couldn't grant those other wishes. They were all so unselfish. Nothing you wished for was for yourself. They were all for your babies or other people. You have a really good heart. You may not have meant for it to happen, but I think you deserve to be a goddess.”

Letting out a big sigh and running her fingers through her hair, Ranma said, “While that's flattering, I need to know how this is going to affect my babies.”

Hoping to help the new goddess to accept her new status, Skuld assured her, “Your babies are safe. They're better off now than they could ever be in the womb of a mortal woman.”

Ranma let out a sigh. “That's a relief to hear. Now could you change me back?”

Shocked at the request, the young goddess said, “Change you back? I don't have the authority to bust a goddess down to mortal.” That last was in a frightened sounding squeak.

“Huh?” Ranma was confused. “You can `promote' a mortal to a goddess but you can't demote that same person? That doesn't make any sense.”

Skuld tried to explain, “I'm not the one who promoted you. I was just the channel for the wish. It was a much higher authority that really granted the wish. Paperwork will have to be filled out to request that this be reversed. That could take a while. You will likely have to stay a goddess for at least a few days or even a week or more. Maybe while you are waiting for that you could think of something else to wish for.”

With an angry scowl Ranma told the younger goddess, “After the wonderful way this has turned out so far, my wish would be to refuse to make a wish.”

Her expression one of hurt, Skuld hesitantly said, “I… guess you could do that. Why would you want to?”

Not wanting to hurt the young Norn's feeling further, Ranma diplomatically told her, “I don't want to take the chance that I could wish for the wrong thing and mess my life up even worse.”

“I… guess I can understand that.”

There was an awkward silence. Ranma broke it by asking, “You said I'm a goddess now and for a least for a few days. Could I ask - goddess of what?” If she was going to be stuck this way for a while, it might be a good idea to find out more about it.

“I'm not sure,” confessed the young Norn. “I've never seen a goddess with marks like yours. I need to check into it.” She pulled a cell phone from somewhere in her clothing and hit a number for speed dial. She waited for a moment and said, “I'm here on that wish for Saotome Ranma.” There was another pause, “Yes, the new god/dess. She needs orientation. She doesn't know her title, duties or anything. I don't recognize her marks. Oh? Ok, I'll watch for her.”

She hit the button to hang up. “My big sister will be coming over to explain what you are now. She's Urd, the Norn goddess of the past and sometimes calls herself a goddess of love. They're giving her a briefing as well as a printout that gives the details of your past and the current situation. She travels by TV so it might be a good idea to turn yours on.”

Ranma picked up the remote and turned on the TV, but hit the `mute' button. Right about then the doorbell rang with the delivery of the food. Ranma went to the door and accepted the delivery. As she was counting out the money she noticed the young man staring at her face. It took a moment before she realized what he must have been looking at. She told him, “Even if I am wearing tattoos, it's rude to stare.”

The delivery boy looked flustered and said, “Right… tattoos. Sorry for staring, but you're very pretty.” Akane heard and thought, “Nice save, kid.”

Ranma thanked the delivery boy and accepted the food. Because of the compliment she included a generous tip in what she paid.

As Ranma brought in the food she said, “Maybe I should put makeup over the marks or something. That guy was looking at me really weird.”

Skuld heard that and told her, “If you want to look mortal you can will the marks away for a while. They will come back when you will it or return on their own later.”

Nodoka took the food from Ranma and started to dish it up from the containers. She called out, “Skuld-Sama, you're welcome to join us for dinner if you'd like.”

The teen goddess said, “Actually goddesses don't really need to eat much. Thanks for the offer. Uh… would you have any ice cream here?”

Nodoka blinked at that. “I think we have some in the freezer. Would chocolate be all right?”

Sounding excited, Skuld replied, “That would be great!”

“Say Skuld?”

The goddess replied, “Yes, Ranma?”

The newest goddess asked, “When you say that goddesses don't eat much, does that mean I don't eat while I'm a goddess?”

The younger goddess explained, “You still can eat, you just don't need to. You will find there will be one food or drink that you will need to use to recharge your energies. With my big sister it's sake; for me it's ice cream.”

As they started to eat Akane asked, “Why do you carry a mallet on your back?”

Skuld considered the question. Finally she replied, “Well, since Ranma's a goddess now I guess it's Ok to tell you. When I'm not granting wishes I'm a system tech and debugger for Ygdrassl, the computer that we use to run Heaven. I use the mallet to bash bugs.”

Ranma looked confused. “Most of what I know about computers comes from playing games but I have talked to some hacker types. I got the idea that computer bugs were errors in the programming. I didn't think they were creatures that could move around to be bashed.”

Skuld laughed. “That may be true in mortal computers that run on electronics. Divine computer systems run on magic and the bugs really are creatures that move around and can be bashed with a mallet.”

Akane laughed and said, “I used to use a mallet, but it was for bashing perverts, not bugs.”

Skuld wondered why Ranma winced at that.

Akane summoned Mallet Sama and Skuld looked at it with a critical eye. “Looks like it would be too heavy for what I need. I'd think it would be hard to control.” She seemed to consider it for a time. “Did you really meet enough perverts to make carrying a mallet necessary?”

Somewhat evasively, Akane just answered, “I've met enough.”

Skuld paused and looked at Mallet-Sama again. “I'd think if you hit any mortals with a mallet that big you could seriously hurt them.”

Akane looked embarrassed and couldn't think how to answer. Ranma came to her rescue. “Mortals with martial arts training tend to be tougher than the average.”

Skuld just shrugged, said, “Oh,” and went back to her dish of ice cream.

After they finished up with the food they went back to the living room and found a stranger there, looking like she was just climbing out of the TV screen. This was a tall woman (but not as tall as Ranma was now) in tight fitting clothing that nicely showed off her figure. She had bronzed tan skin and platinum blonde hair. The look was quite striking. Since she had marks on her face it was clear that she was another goddess. In one hand the tall woman carried a file folder. She spotted Skuld and nodded. “Hey, squirt. I'm here to meet this new goddess.” She looked over at Ranma and nodded.

“You're Saotome Ranma?” she asked

The redheaded goddess bowed to the new guest. “That's me. I guess you're the sister Skuld was talking about?”

“Right! I'm Urd, Norn goddess of the past. Goddess second class, category one, unlimited license. You are a goddess third class, category one, apprentice license. You're also a god with all the same stats.”

“Right, I got that part from what Skuld told me,” Ranma replied. “What am I the god/goddess of?”

Urd tried to clarify, “You are the god and goddess of Yin and Yang.”

“Huh?” Ranma briefly touched her hand to her forehead where the Yin/Yang symbol was.

Urd noted the confused expression on the redhead's face and took pity on her. “I had to have it explained to me too. You are the god and goddess of the duality of human sexuality. You're going to be helping people who are confused about their sexuality like you were after you first got your gender changing curse.”

Ranma tried to work that one out. “So, are you saying I'm some kind of sex goddess?”

The tanned goddess agreed, “Basically, but one with a special interest.”

Thinking that even as a goddess nothing could ever be simple for her, Ranma commented, “Oh, that's going to be fun when I'm introducing myself. I'll have to have some kind of booklets printed up just to explain it. A business card would be too small.”

The white haired goddess shrugged. “You could get magic business cards. They fit in a pocket like the regular ones but can expand to a booklet big enough to fit the explanation in.”

Ranma nodded. “That might work.”

Urd was looking her up and down and asked, “Did you look like this before you became a goddess?”

“Huh? Well… yeah, pretty much,” Ranma said. “Some months ago my cousin Toshi used magic to make my female form taller and more buff looking. About the only change turning into a goddess did for me was making my hair longer and adding the marks to my face. It changed my clothes too.”

Akane chimed in, “You grew taller too.”

“I did? I didn't notice.”

“Yeah, come stand next to me,” Akane directed.

Ranma did and found herself looking down on top of her wife's head. Before she had been only slightly taller than Akane, but now she was a lot taller.

Nodoka grabbed an envelope of photos from a drawer and handed them to the goddess. Urd looked at a picture of Ranma's original female form and said, “Wow, if I ever saw a mortal who looked like a sex goddess, you're it. You're still beautiful now but you look more like a valkyrie than most of the sex goddess I know.”

She put that picture on the back of the stack and looked at one of male Ranma with Akane. She asked, “Is this your male form?”

Ranma nodded. Grinning, Urd said, “Not bad at all. I don't think your sex god form will have much enhancement over your mortal body.” The silver haired goddess looked at Akane and asked, “Are you the wife?”

Akane was trying to be respectful in the presence of goddesses. She said, “Yes ma'am.”

Urd smiled broadly. “Lucky girl. Too bad you won't have access to that studly body of his while both of you are pregnant.”

Ranma laughed and said, “We'll be able to do other things.”

The Goddess of the Past chuckled, while pointing a finger at Ranma. “That is a good attitude for a sex goddess to have.”

Ranma decided to bring things back to a practical level. She asked, “Skuld said something about a special food or drink to recharge my energies. Do you know what that will be for me?”

Urd reached into her file folder and pulled out a sheet. She looked over it and said, “You will have two main ways to recharge. As a sex goddess you can recharge by being in intimate contact with other people. That can mean anything from just hugging and kissing up to full out sexual intercourse. You get your energy from the act itself, not by draining it from the body of your sex partner.”

The Norn continued, “Your other means of recharging would be by eating chocolate. You should probably keep a supply of chocolate bars on hand at your home and store some in your stuff space. From what I'm reading here it is the chocolate itself and not from the other stuff like nuts, nougat, cream fillings and the like. If you eat any of those kinds of candies, it would be because you like them not for the energy benefit. A side benefit of being a goddess is that you could eat all the chocolate in a candy store and never get sick or get fat and it won't rot your teeth.”

The platinum blonde goddess continued, “You can still eat normal food but your body doesn't really need it. The only reason you would want to eat normal food now is because you like it for the taste.”

Nodoka couldn't resist putting in her own dig, “That means eating slowly enough to actually taste the food, not inhaling it.”

“Yes, Mom. I'll remember that.”

Urd went on, “Now for transportation, you have a few choices. You can manifest wings and fly. That's lots of fun. You can fly without the wings by levitation, but that uses more energy. You can teleport virtually anywhere, but that takes a lot of energy. You can also use your transport medium. That doesn't take nearly as much energy, so we usually try to travel that way most of the time. As you've already seen, mine is through televisions. For little Sis there, she transports through water. Yours is… dirt?”

She checked the sheet and confirmed. “I guess this means you can transport any place where there is an open patch of dirt.”

With a frown, Ranma asked, “Would that still work if there is grass growing on top of the dirt?”

The platinum blonde goddess read on her sheet of paper. “That's what it says here.”

Skuld took this moment to interrupt. “Uh… Sis? Ranma said she wasn't really making a wish when she asked to be made into a god/goddess. She was just being sarcastic.”

Urd sighed and frowned. “I was warned that this might come up. I read the transcript. Little Sis, you didn't screw up this time. You did it exactly right.”

“What!” Ranma demanded. “How can you say that?”

Urd explained, “You made a remark about being a kami and one of the ones doing the interfering instead of being the one interfered with. Skuld then asked if that meant you wished to be a goddess. You may have said it in a sarcastic tone and didn't mean it seriously, but it was stated as a wish and in the correct words. If we allowed people to claim `I didn't mean it' we'd never hear the end of it. There are no `do overs' on divine Wishes.”

Ranma looked at the white haired goddess with mouth agape. “You mean I'm stuck like this?”

Not truly understanding the reason for Ranma's displeasure, Urd said, “You say that like it's a bad thing. You're immortal now.”

Angrily Ranma said, “So the people I love will grow old and die while they watch me stay the same. Do I understand that right?”

Why was the new goddess angry? Urd said, “Uh… Yeah. You do seem to have a pretty good grasp of the situation.”

Ranma patted her abdomen and asked, “Will that hold true for the babies in here? Even if a goddess gives birth to them, it was mortal womb they were conceived in and the `parents' (both of me) were mortal at the time. I'm guessing that means the babies are mortal.”

“Oh, good question.” Urd thought for a moment. “They probably got changed the same time you did. I'd guess they're demigods but I could be wrong about that. They didn't include that in the briefing I got. You may have to ask Kami-sama when you go talk to Him tomorrow.”

“Demigods? I guess that would be Ok…Wait a minute! Did you just say…?”

“That you have an appointment to talk to Kami-Sama tomorrow? Yes, I did say that.” Urd had a huge grin on her face. She loved doing this to people because it messed with their heads.

The silver haired goddess was not expecting the reaction she got. Ranma seemed to sag and a look of acute depression settled on her face. “This day isn't as bad as the one where I had to fight Saffron, but I'd say it's got to be right up there as one of the weirdest and worst of my life.”

“Uh… Ranma? This is supposed to be a good thing.”

Ranma turned to Urd with a sour expression. “You're a goddess, I wouldn't expect you to understand.” She stood up from her seat and said, “I'm going to take a bath and get ready for bed. Mom, Akane, would you like to join me?”

The other two women nodded and stood.

Ranma told Urd, “I suggest you read the rest of that stuff they gave you that tells about my life. It will be easier than if I try to tell you about it. We can talk more about it when I'm done with my bath.” She left the room, headed to the furo.

Looking totally confused, the goddess looked at the papers in her hand and started reading as suggested. Before she had only skimmed over the current events and the details of the new goddess. She had mostly skipped over the history of the mortal who had become a goddess. It was interesting reading.

As she went on with the reading she felt like dealing out a little divine punishment to a certain former panda. She tempered that somewhat when she read that the martial artist in question was now an expectant mother. Hmm… maybe she could do something humiliating instead of fatal or painful. It was something to think about later.

When Ranma came back into the room she was wearing pajamas (because of the guest) but they were really tight because of her new growth. She asked, “Now do you understand why I don't think this whole goddess business is a good thing?”

Urd was still puzzled. “I understand that you've had a rough life. You're father is a beast who should never have been in charge of raising a child. I fear for the child she's now carrying. But your situation has improved. Like you said, you are now one of the ones who will be interfering in other people's lives.”

Ranma wanted to shout but didn't think that would be a good idea. She said, “You don't get it. I'm tired. I've had more weird stuff happen to me than what any three normal people have in their entire lives and I'm still only a teenager. Since I've got a magic curse that lets me change sex at will, I know my life will never be really normal, but I'd like to get as close to it as I can get. Normal people don't get changed into divinities. Normal people don't go for an interview with Kami-Sama.”

This attitude was not one the goddess had seen before. “Well, first off, you don't have a gender changing curse now. That was cured when you became a goddess. The only reason you can still change sex is because you specified that in the Wish. If you had phrased it differently, you might have been female forever. As it is now, changing your sex is now one of your divine powers instead of a curse. Besides that what's the big attraction with normal? Normal is dull, it's boring.”

Ranma shook her head. “You're probably right, but I'd dearly love to take a break from the `interesting' life for a while. Maybe a year or even two to just get through my pregnancy and spend a little time being a mommy (and a daddy.) I really wouldn't mind a little boredom and dullness.”

The platinum blonde goddess sighed. “I'm sorry but normal is not something you're going to get. You might get light duty while you're pregnant but there will still be things you have to learn about being a goddess. Stuff you have to know and you will have to learn about your duties. You may get a chance to help out some gender confused mortals during your pregnancy and you may get to work on the Goddess Relief Hot-Line to grant a wish or two.”

Urd flipped some pages and looked at something in her briefing packet. After checking she said, “You mentioned something about Saffron. Would you like to tell me more about him?”

Ranma thought she could see a chance here. “Not much to tell. He's the God of the phoenix people in China. There was a fight and Akane was changed into a doll. She was going to die and I had to kill Saffron to save her. If you're gonna kill me for doing that, could you please wait until after my babies are born? I mean they are innocent and all.”

The silver haired goddess could easily see where Ranma was going with this. She hid her amusement as she said, “You aren't going to be killed for that. He did get reborn after all.”

That wasn't the response Ranma had been hoping for. She tried again. “Hmm, shouldn't I still be punished for killing a god, even temporarily? … I know. You could take away my divinity; make me mortal. That would be a good punishment.”

The silver haired goddess chuckled now. “Nice try, Ranma, but you made your wish and you're stuck with it now. Besides, Saffron was a rebel and criminal in Heaven. He was hiding out among the phoenix people. In killing him (forcing him prematurely into his rebirth cycle) you did Heaven a service. He will be retrieved to finish growing up in Heaven this time.”

She looked at Ranma for a time and said, “I'm not sure if I should tell you this with the mood you're in.”

The redheaded goddess rolled her eyes and said, “Tell me what?”

She knew Ranma wouldn't like it but decided it wasn't good to conceal things from her. “When you were still mortal you only got the feeling of accomplishment as your reward. Now that you are a goddess you may get an actual reward for what you did.”

Ranma just looked at the other goddess. She thought, “I ended the life of a living being (never mind that it started back up again) and they want to reward me for it? These people are sick.”

Ranma looked around and noticed that Skuld seemed to be missing. “Where'd your sister go?”

Urd explained, “There was a system problem and she got called to go squash some bugs. Besides, she did her job and granted your wish. It's not her fault you're not happy with the result. Now I get the job of coordinating your training. If you're going to be this grumpy all the time, I can see that's going to be a tough job.”

None of this was improving Ranma's mood. She told the visiting goddess, “Humph. I'm going to bed… Oh, I bet you're going to tell me that goddesses don't need to sleep.”

The Norn shrugged. “Well, they don't. You'd recharge your energies better just snuggling with your wife. You still can sleep, you just don't need to.”

Ranma nodded. She picked up the remote and turned on the TV. “I'm sort of in the habit of sleeping so I'm still going to go to bed. Maybe I can get used to the idea of not sleeping in time. Since I'm sure you don't want to just wait around here while I sleep, why don't we agree to meet back here in the morning.”

The silver haired goddess was not happy with the dismissal but agreed and dived back into the TV and disappeared. As she turned off the TV Ranma said to no one in particular, “The really weird thing about that is that it doesn't feel all that weird to see her do that.” She signed and headed off to the bedroom. It felt like it had been a really long and eventful day.

Author's Note: Yes, the title is “Sailor Goddess” but I'm going to work into the Senshi connection gradually.
