Matthew whimpered at the wound in his leg. Glaring at her, he shook his head. "You're a crazy bitch! I was going to let you go, but I'm going to have you locked up after this!"

She smacked him hard across the face then cried out and cradled her hand. "I'm not crazy!" She walked over to the table again and grabbed the glass. She started pacing. "It's not fair! It's not fair! I do everything right! I do what I'm told! I stopped cutting myself and I stopped throwing things at you! What do you want from me! I gave you everything! You ungrateful bastard!"

"I want you to put down the damn piece of glass and get me out of the jacket!" His cheek was already starting to swell and he could taste blood in his mouth. She wasn't crazy. She was full blown homicidal psycho.

She glared at him with dark eyes.
"You are not the boss of me," she said dark and harshly.

"Yes I am! I'm your doctor, Alice! I know what's best for you."

"You don't know anything and right now I'm the fucking doctor!" She moved over to him and pressed hard on his wound. "So shut up or I'll put the gag on you again, got it!?”

He screamed as she pressed on his wound. "Alice...stop this," he begged.

She moved back from him and started to cry.
"No one understands. Do you know what it's like to be in here all the time!?"

Matthew shook his head, there was so much blood.... "I understand, Alice. Just undo the straps on this jacket and I'll help you."

"No you won't! You'll tell people and I'll be stuck here forever!" she snapped. "And I want out!" She tightened her grip on the broken glass, blood poured from her hand. She looked at him. "I think...I think I have to kill you so you don't tell."

"You're not going to kill me, Alice," he said, his eyes suddenly getting wide. "Y-you love me. Remember?"

Her eyes washed over him. "What?" she shook her head. "I don't-" Suddenly she stopped. "Oh no..." she whispered. The glass dropped from her hand. "I do...well...this isn't good. No, not good at all. What would the Red Queen do?"

The Red Queen. Off with their heads.... "No! Alice, not what the Red Queen would do," he said quickly.

"Shhh!" she ordered. "I can't think with you yelling at me!" She began to pace again. “What was it that she always says when she doesn't know what to do?"

"Bad, Alice! Very bad! Just take this jacket off of me and we can have tea. You like tea, right?"

She smiled. "Tea! Oh my Gosh! I'm late for tea!"

"Yes! Get me out of the jacket and we can have tea."

"I'm not letting you out of the jacket," she said sharply. She reached down and picked up the glass again. "Off with your head."

"No! No! Alice, you can't do this. I'm your doctor! Listen to me!"

"Shut up! I don't need a doctor!" She walked over to him and sat in his lap. Tears washed down her cut face, stinging her. "But I love you so much...I'm so sorry...but I have to do this...I just want to be free."

"You can be free without killing me! If you kill me you'll never be free!"

"Yes I will," she whispered. Her hand stroked his cheek. "One day, you will understand. It was wrong for me to love you...I'm mad...and I belong to the Mad Hatter." She leaned forward and kissed him.

He didn't kiss her back, instead he pulled away.
"Just let me go, Alice. I promise that you can come with me. Just let me go."

She shook her head sadly. "It's too late. I've gone too far." She pressed the glass to his throat. "I'm so sorry, Matthew...."

"Nighty night, Alice," Mr. Cat whispered as the needle stuck into her neck. He watched as she felt limply against his chest.

Matthew looked up at him, rage flooding his eyes.
"Get her in a fucking straight jacket and lock her up!"

"She was just-"

"I don't give a fuck! Lock her up and throw away the key!"

Alice woke in utter pain. She cried out and sat up. Her eyes were fuzzy and she couldn't move her arms. After a few moments, her eyes cleared and she could see. She started to cry when she realized she was in a straight jacket and in a padded room. Move to a corned she cried loudly. She had no idea why she was there but her hand hurt and her body ached. She couldn't remember anything. Last thing she remembered was her undoing Matthew's straps on his jacket.

It was hours later when Mr. Cat finally came in with her food. He looked surprised to see her awake.
"Alice, how are you feeling?"

She looked over at him. "Why am I in here? Please, I have to see Mr. Hatter. There has to be a mistake!" she cried. She had been crying so much her voice was sore and her throat raw.

"I'm afraid you were rather bad, Alice," he told her. He sat down in front of her, setting her tray in between them. "Matthew...doesn't want to see you right now."

She shook her head. "I don't understand. What did I do?" She moved closer to him. "Everything hurts..."

"You cut yourself up," he told her. "You did bad things."

"That's....that's not possible....I don't remember doing that...." She started crying again. "Why doesn't he want to see me?"

Mr. Cat sighed as he pulled her against his chest. "Because you tried to kill him sweetie."

She froze. Her heart felt like it was just stabbed. "What?"

He nodded slowly. "You tried to take his head off with a piece of broken glass."

Alice screamed. She screamed as loud as she could into Mr. Cat's chest. She swore the walls shook with it. How could she have done something like that? And to Matthew? She loved him. How could she not remember it? This was all some kind of nightmare.

"It's okay sweetie," he promised as he stroked her hair. "I'm certain that he'll forgive you...eventually."

She pulled back from him. "You must to something for me...you must give me the drug the director gave me to put me to sleep. I'm begging you. He won't care anyways...just put me to sleep so I can get to Wonderland. I...I....just don't want to be here...please," she pleaded.

He frowned at her request.
"Let me help you eat. Maybe once you get some food in you, you'll feel better."'

"No!" she yelled. "If you can't get me the drug then you aren't helping me!"

"Eat, Alice, and then I will get the drug for you."

"I said no!" she screamed.

"Okay, Alice. I'll bring the medicine in here." He stood and left her alone with her food. Shutting the door behind him, he shook his head, his heart breaking at her sorrow.

Alice didn't even have her rabbit. Why was she so alone? Why did she attack Matthew? And why couldn't she remember. She leaned against the wall as she cried. All she wanted to do now was go to Wonderland and be with the Mad Hatter. He would fix it.

Mr. Cat returned several minutes later with a syringe. There was only a small amount of the fluid in it. He didn't want to put her out but for an hour or so.
"Okay, Alice. I hope that this will help you sleep."

She moved to him. "When you speak to him...tell him I'm sorry...and if he doesn't forgive me...keep giving me the medication. I don't want to wake up."

"I'll tell him. I'm certain he will forgive you, Alice. Just give him time." He placed the syringe in her leg and slowly pushed the chemicals into her.

Alice's body stiffened. Everything went numb and she watched as the world around her faded into Wonderland. She blinked and suddenly she was laying on a field of grass like most of the time. Her outfit wasn't white this time, but red. She sat up.
"Mad Hatter..." she whispered as tears streaked from her face.

"I'm right here, Alice," he whispered. His hat hung low over his head, blocking his face from view. His outfit was blood red this time, much like hers. He walked toward her, a limp in his right leg.

Alice stood. She rushed to him then got to her knees and looked at his leg.
"What happened?"

"I was hurt," he told her softly.

She looked up at him.
"Please...tell me what happened. How can I fix it?"

He caressed her face. Slowly he looked up at her. His beautiful face was now marred with cuts, as was his neck. "You can fix Wonderland."

Alice gasped, her hands going over her mouth. She stood and pulled him close. "What has happened? What went wrong!?" she screamed. Her heart was breaking. Her chest hurt and so did her hand. She looked at her hand on noticed the stitching in it. It was once cut up and not had tones of stitches in it. Her face suddenly stung but she didn't care. She held her Hatter closer. "Oh God...what has become of Wonderland?"

"It has become fractured and broken," he told her. His hands wrapped around her as he held her. "It hurts...."

"I will never leave again," she promised. "I'm going to stay here with you forever, Mr. Hatter." She cried into his chest. "This is all my fault. If I had never left...none of this would have happened. Nothing is going right...everything is wrong..." She suddenly looked up at him, fear washing over her. "Please, the White Rabbit...is he safe?"

He didn't say a word. He simply pointed over to a freshly dug grave. A pocket watch laying in front of it.

Alice walked over to it numbly. She fell to her knees. Without warning, she started screaming. The skies broke open and rain poured over Wonderland. Thunder and Lightning crashed like a battle, striking the ground as she dug her hands into the soil. She was a failure. She left Wonderland and gave her heart to another and now the White Rabbit was dead. This was a sign...she was a failure.

"I couldn't protect him," the Hatter said as he walked up behind her, the rain pelting his flesh like acid. "A giant birthday cake fell from the sky. It went splat...crushing him." His voice sounded slightly loopy as he said that.

"It's...my birthday...today...." Alice said with a sore voice. "What a very horrible day it is..." She laid on the grave. "I don't deserve to live." She closed her eyes and curled up into a ball. "I want to die," she whispered and lightening crashed at her feet.

"Very well." The Hatter held her knife in his hands and raised it to his throat. "Off with your head," he said as he slid the blade across his throat.

Alice screamed. She shot up from the grave and placed her hand over her throat.
"Why! Why would you leave me alone! Of all people! I need you! I need you!" she screamed as she watched the life drain from him while she tried to stop the blood from pouring from his throat.

"You need me," he said in gasps, his eyes fading. "But you want me to die?"

"I never said I wanted you to die!" she yelled. Hail began to fall from the sky.

"You said that you wished to die...did you not?"

"I am not you and you are not me! Please, no riddles, not now....not when I'm losing you."

His body slowly shifted until he looked like her double. "The Hatter belongs to Alice, because the Hatter is Alice."

Her eyes widened. "W-what...." She shook her head. "No...that's not...that's not true...I love you!"

He smiled, blood now dripping from his lips. "I love you too, my Alice." His eyes stayed open, even as the life faded from them. His now long golden locks danced across the ground.

Alice hugged him to her as she screamed. She was truly all alone now. The hail piled on the ground hitting her hard and she hugged his body and she fell to her knees.
"Mr. Hatter! Please! Please don't leave me alone!"

"My, my, this is quite the predicament," the Cat sighed as he sat on the White Rabbit's grave. "The Rabbit is dead. You have killed the Hatter. Now all that is left is me."

"Shut up!" she said coldly. "And get off his grave you traitor!"

"I'm the traitor? You're the one who killed the Hatter and left Wonderland like this!"

"I...I didn't mean to!" she cried and hugged the Hatter tighter. "I'm sorry!"

"You told him to die, Alice. You might as well have slit his throat yourself!"

"I didn't say that! I never told him to do that!"

"You told him that you wanted to die. The Hatter belongs with Alice. If Alice is dead, what point is there to the Hatter?"

"Shut up you stupid cat! You haven't been any help! You are never there when I need you! Do what you do best and disappear!"

"Can't do that, Alice. Not this time. Not when we both know that there's a way to bring the Hatter back."

She looked over at him. Her hand pulled the slipping Hatter to her again. "Tell me....how.”

"You know how, Alice," he told her. "The Hatter is yours. You should know how to bring him back."

"I don't know!" she yelled. "I don't know anything...anymore..."

"Well, if you don't know, then perhaps you should wake up."

"Wake up?" Alice asked. She looked at the cat again.

"Yes. It's time to wake up." Wonderland began to waver around her.

Alice clung to the Hatter.
"No! No!" she screamed. She shot a look at the cat. "Stay safe! Please! And guard his body!" she begged. She didn't get a reply from him before she pressed her lips to the Hatters then was thrusted into the real world.

"Alice, are you okay? You were screaming in your sleep." Mr. Cat looked at her with worried eyes.

Alice didn't answer. Even though the straight jacket was on her, she still curled into a ball. She didn't know what to do anymore.

"Alice? Sweetie?" He became worried when she wouldn't talk to him. He stroked her head and looked at her. "Talk to me."

"They...are dead...I killed them...just leave me alone..."

"You killed who?"

"The Hatter and the rabbit! Now leave me alone!" she screamed as she cried.

"Oh no," he whispered. "Please, Alice. Tell me what happened to them."

"I killed them! The White Rabbit died because I took too long to return and the Hatter..." She screamed again and started to rock herself. "He slit his throat because of me!"
