"Shh, it's okay, Alice." Mr. Cat tried to calm her down, but nothing he was doing was working. "I'll be back," he promised as he stood and left her there.

Alice wiggled in the strait jacket. Out of all her time in it, she still couldn't figure out a way to get out of it herself. She felt helpless, broken, and dead inside.

Mr. Cat pushed Matthew through the door. The later limped uneasily inside. One side of his face was swollen, the other had a bandage on it. There was also a bandage on his throat
. "Alice," he said softly, trying to keep his voice composed. "You need to calm down."

Alice didn't look at him, but she did get quiet. She closed her eyes and tried to picture the Hatter and White Rabbit in her memory.

He stood there in the doorway, Mr. Cat trying to get him to go to her.
"What happened, Alice?"

"Please...I just want to be alone...." she whispered. "I'm sorry...about what I did to you...whatever it was...but I just want to be alone..."

"You'll have plenty of time for that, Alice," he assured her. "I need to make certain that you're alright. Now tell me what happened."

"I'm fine! Get out!" she screamed. "God! Everyone leaves me alone for hours when I don't want to be alone but when I want peace I have to scream!"

"The only reason you were alone was because you couldn't be trusted around others," he said. "Now I see that they were right."

She stiffened. Now she really did want to die.

"Now tell me what happened so that I may check on my patients."

"I want a new doctor," she said. "Get me a new doctor."

"You've already been assigned one," he told. "However, she is much too busy to deal with you right now."

"Then get out."

"No."

She twisted her arm in the strait jacket and started wiggling again. She would get out of the damn jacket if it killed her.

"Stop it, Alice. You'll only hurt yourself further. No one was able to check your wounds, so stop struggling."

"I don't want you here and I won't talk to you. Get me my doctor if you want answers, until then, get out." She twisted again and her arm popped. She cried out but didn't stop.

"Fuck," he muttered. Limping toward her, he grabbed her and forced her to be still. "Damn it! Why the hell couldn't you have just listened to me?"

She kicked him watching him fly across the room. "You are not my doctor! Get out!"

He landed hard, his glasses breaking as he looked up at her. A growl escaped his throat. Going over to her, he slapped her. "Listen!" he yelled. "You tried to fucking kill me! I'm trying to be nice! Now shut up and sit still!"

Alice cried out. "I don't want you here...just leave."

"No," he told her. "Not till you tell me why the hell you wanted to behead me."

"I thought it was obvious you idiot! I'm crazy! Get the fuck out or I'll make you regret it!"

"You can't do anything in that jacket. I know that for a fact."

She kicked him again. "I'll break every bone in my body!" she threatened and started twisting in it once more. The arms started to loosen and it fueled her.

He hissed, falling to the ground as she kicked his wound. Blood began to seep through his pants leg.
"Damn it," he growled.

She kept twisting and finally her arms were free. She bent her body, popping her shoulder out of place just to get it off. Finally she threw it to the ground. She looked at her hand. It wasn't stitched, it had been bleeding out this whole time. She moved her back to the wall and pushed at her shoulder until it popped back into place and she screamed. Her body was covered in old blood and cuts.

He looked up at her as she got out of her jacket. A slur of curse words flew from his lips as he started to push himself away. His leg was throbbing from where she kicked making it hard to move.
"Alice, just calm down and relax," he told her.

"Fuck you," she spat. Going to the door, she opened it since it was kept cracked. "Get out. This is my room and you are not my doctor."

"You can't tell me what to do," he said as he used the walls to stand.

"If you don't get out, I'll treat you like I've treated every doctor in the past. You already hate me, don't make me hurt you worse, just get out and we can forget we ever met." She opened the door wider. "Leave or I will and I'll lock you in here."

"You won't," he told her once he was standing up. "You love me, remember?"

"I killed the man I love," she said as tears poured down her cheeks again. "Suit yourself.” She walked out and pulled the door with her.

"Alice, stop!" he yelled as he ran to the door.

She held the door. Opening it, she pointed for him to leave.
"Get out."

He limped toward her, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her. "Let me treat your wounds."

She pushed him out. "No. You're not my doctor anymore." She slammed the door.

He rolled his eyes, his key sliding into the lock.
"Alice," he called out from the to her side of the door. "Let me in. Let me treat your wounds...and I'll give you the drug to go back to Wonderland."

She leaned her back against the door and looked at her wounds on her hand. It was still bleeding and it hurt so bad. "I don't want to go back yet...not until I figure things out..."

"Then let me treat your wounds; and when you want to go back I'll let you."

"You are not my doctor! Quit harassing me or I'll tell everyone you raped me!"

He froze. "I didn't rape you, Alice."

She shook her head. Of course he didn't. And yes, she loved him. But at the moment...he was better off without her and she was too broken. Her heart died in Wonderland with the Hatter and the White Rabbit. "Just leave, Matthew. You can't help me...no one can."

"Alice, all I'm offering to do is doctor your wounds. You nearly killed me. You owe me that much."

"I owe you enough to tell you that this door isn't enough to keep me from trying again. I'm giving you the chance to get out. Just take it."

"You're in control now. I'm not in a straight jacket. I think I'll be fine." Though he didn't sound too certain of that.

She turned to the window.
"I don't think you have a choice. I'm serious, if you come near me again, I'll tell my doctor you raped me."

"No, you won't, Alice. Because if you say that I will be stripped of my medical license. My entire life will be ruined." He turned the key in the lock and opened up the door.

She pushed both hands against the door and cried at the feeling
. "I would rather you be ruined then dead. I mean it."

"You won't kill me, Alice. You have nothing to kill me with."

"That key in your hand is enough. I can use the belts on the jacket. I can use the pens in your doctor coat."

"You're not that skilled," he told her. "You're just a girl. Not a murderer."

"I killed my parents...my first love...my best friend...not to mention the twins and the Caterpillar. Why do you care? You're not my doctor. I snapped on you. You should be running like the rest of them. If I let you bandage me, will you promise never to see me again?"

"No," he told her bluntly.

"Then I won't let you in. You'll have to wait until my doctor gives you clearance just like any other doctor would have waited for yours when you were my doctor."

"Doesn't work that way anymore," he told her as he pushed on the door. "I'm coming in."

She pushed the door against him. "Sucks when you have a bad leg, doesn't it?"

He winced, glaring at her as she was able to push the door back. "It is only bad because you carved out a nerve," he told her.

"I'm pretty smart then I suppose."

"I always knew that you were. Did you know that I'll never be able to run now?"

"Sucks to be you," she shrugged. "I want to see my doctor."

"I am your doctor," he replied coldly.

"No you're not."

"Yes, I am. Until the point when she is able to take you fully into her custody, you are still my patient. Therefore you have to do what I say."

"I never did like being told what to do. You're lucky I don't have any shoes anymore."

"No. All you have now is the torn up dress and undergarments that went with it," he told her. Sighing, he looked at her. "Alice, just let me patch up your wounds before you hurt yourself further."

"I don't want you here. Why are you being difficult? You don't want me and I don't want you. Send Mr. Cat to do it."

"He won't. He wants me to do it."

"He never did like you much..."

"He likes me just fine," he told her.

"Sure he does."

He rolled his eyes and after taking a deep breath, shoved the door open. Moving as quickly as he could, he went inside and shut the door behind him.

Alice backed to the wall.
"If you touch me, you will regret it. You do remember the first year you were my doctor right? It will be like that all over again."

"Alice, I am neither in the moor or the health to fight you," he told her. He moved and sat down. He held up the gauze and bandages. "I simply want to patch you up."

"Yeah we all want something."

"If you want to be able to go to Wonderland to bring back the Hatter, you should let me fix you up."

"If you don't want to go to hell you should shut up," she spat and sat in the corner of the room. She pulled the strait jacket to her and covered her lap.

"Very well then. The doors locked. I can't get out. So, we will just sit here until someone comes to open it."

"Fine with me," she said. She started ripping the jacket and wrapping her hand. Her fingers went to her face and she winced. She must be cut on her face like her body.

He rolled his eyes as he started toward her.
"That jacket costs more than your entire yearly wardrobe." He held out the bandages. "Let me help you."

"Do not touch me and I'm sure it does. I only wear panties and a hospital gown."

He reached out and took her leg and started bandaging it, ignoring her words. "Yes, well, I'm thinking of allocating the budget to allow you a bra."

She kicked him and winced as she watched him roll on the ground. "I warned you. And you aren't my doctor. You don't get a say in what I wear. And you still haven't answered my question of why you are here."

He held his leg as he rolled on the ground. "Fuck! I'm here so that I can doctor your wounds!" Pulling backhand, he noticed there was blood. Cursing, he took the bandages and slowly started to undo his pants. He winced as he slid them down, revealing his bleeding wound. He quickly began taking off the bloody bandages and redoing them.

"Yeah, I'm not buying that when I have a nurse and a doctor for that. Try again," she said. Her eyes washed over his wound. She couldn't believe she did something that bad when she didn't remember doing it.

"That's my reason," he told her. "I wanted to do it. That's why no one else is doing it."

"Why?"

"Because I wanted to make certain you were okay."

"I almost kill you and you want to see if I'm ok. Well I'm not, now you have done what you want. Do your doctor page thing and call my doctor."

"As I have repeatedly told you, I am your doctor until further notice."

"Why is it that you have trouble saying how you really feel? It's annoying." She looked down at her hand. Suddenly she thought of the Hatter. Her heart ached. God she missed him.

"And how do you know how I feel?"

"I don't, because you don't ever tell me," she said. "Can we...just not talk anymore?"

"Will you let me take care of your wounds?"

"No," she said and laid down. "But if you keep talking, I'm not going to respond."
