Mr. Cat chuckled as he took out a needle and thread to stitch her. He took her hand and began working on it. "Yes, well, while I enjoyed my night off I was worried about you. I had a date with a rather handsome looking stud."
She winced and hissed. "What was it like? Did you kiss him? What did you do? Where did you go?"
His eyes watched her face, she was so excited about his day. "We went for dinner and a stroll at the park," he told her. "It was wonderful; and yes...we kissed."
She smiled but winced again. "Sounds nice. Next time you should take pictures."
"Would you like to see pictures of my evening?"
She smiled again. "Very much so!"
"Well then, later tonight when I sneak your dinner to you I'll bring my camera. I always take pictures." He smiled at how easy it was to make her happy.
"Thank you..." she said. She leaned her forehead on his shoulder while he stitched her. "Do you think...Mr. Hatter...cares about me? I mean...like I do him?"
"I can't speak for him," he sighed. "But he does care about you. I just don't know how much." He finished with her hand and kissed it to make it feel better. "Why do you ask?"
She shook her head. "No reason." Her arms wrapped around him. She just wanted something familiar. Something that made her feel like everything was ok. Her grip tightened on him. "If...if I tried to run again...would you open the door again?"
"Of course I would," he told her. "I'd even draw you a map to my house."
She smiled. "Then bring it tonight..." she whispered.
His eyes widened as he heard this. "Are you really thinking of trying to escape?"
"Yes," she whispered into him. "Don't tell anyone."
"I won't," he promised. Stroking her hair, he bit his lip. "Do you remember what my car looks like?"
"Yes....bright red...you showed me a picture," she said.
"Okay. Good." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a key chain. After a few moments, he took a key off and handed it to her. "Hide this. If you get out, find my car and open up the back door. There's a lever on the back seat. Let it down and climb into the trunk."
"Ok," she said. She grabbed her rabbit and slipped it inside one of the tears on it. "Thank you...thank you so much."
"Don't thank me just yet," he smiled as he kissed her forehead. "I'd better go before someone realizes I'm missing."
"I'm going to do it tonight..." she said.
"Okay. Just remember what I said." He stood and left. Closing the door, he leaned against it, his heart beating quickly. This wasn't going to end well.
Alice laid back in her bed. There was a very small chance she would be able to make it out as easily as she did the last time, but she had to try. She couldn't be here anymore. She couldn't waste away here any longer.
It was late at night before Matthew finally got the call from the board. His heart fell when they told him that he wouldn't be reassigned to Alice. "Yes...I understand," he said softly as he hung up the phone. Dr. Till would be her doctor, which meant that she was officially his new boss.
Mr. Cat walked by Alice's room. He unlocked her door with his key and kept walking, doing his rounds.
Alice moved to the door, her rabbit tightly in her hand. Slowly, she pulled it open. Her head peeked into the hallway and noticed that it was dead. She heard a familiar voice and ducked her head back in.
"I'm clocking out for the night. I have to get my kid from his dumb ass babysitter," Dr. Till said. "Tell Alice I'll have our session tomorrow. I don't have time for her bitchiness," she said to Mr. Cat. She didn't wait for her reply. She was buzzed out and Alice didn't hear her anymore.
Alice decided to wait at least ten extra minutes, giving the doctor time to get to her car and leave before she decided it was time to try and escape.
"Dr. Till!" Matthew called after her as he hurried after her.
Dr. Till didn't look back as she put her key in her car. "What is it Matthew? I really have to go."
"I realize that. It's just that since you're clocking out early this evening, I wanted to conduct Alice's mental evaluation this evening; and I need your approval...."
"Sure, whatever," she said waving it off and got into her car.
Alice poked her head out the door again. The coast was clear. Quickly, she made her way to the front door, her eyes scanning everything.
"Have a goodnight," Matthew said, rolling his eyes as he tucked his hands into his jacket and started back to the building.
Mr. Cat stood in the front office, flirting with the night guard. He watched the security cameras as Alice made her way to the door. He hopped onto the counter, sitting on the button while his foot moved up to tease the guard.
When it buzzed, Alice pushed it open and dashed out. She glanced around and started for the parking lot seeing a car driving off as she did.
Matthew looked up as the door buzzed. Huffing, he started for the door. He heard someone walking to their car, another lucky bastard that got off early. Going inside, he stopped as he heard something. Looking at the front office, he groaned as he saw the nurse and the guard. He didn't even know that the guard was gay...wasn't he married?
Alice ran to Mr. Cat's car. She easily picked it out of the bunch. Reaching in her rabbit, she pulled out the key and put it in. She took a moment to look at the stars and enjoy the breeze before getting in, closing the door and pulling the lever for her to crawl in the back. She smiled when she noticed a blanket and pillow waiting for her.
It was only minutes later before the alarm went up. Matthew searched through the halls, trying to find where Alice was. Mr. Cat hated lying to him, but it was for his own good for now. The guards went out to search for her, but none of them even thought to look in the employee parking lot.
Matthew came back, cursing, his hands shaking. "It's all her fault," he hissed. "If she hadn't tried to change everything..." Shaking his head he grabbed the phone to let Dr. Till know that her precious patient was gone.
Mr. Cat hugged Matthew from behind. "I'm going home," he told him. "Call me if you find her."
He nodded as Mr. Cat left and got in his car. "You awake, Alice?"
"Yes," Alice said. Her voice was muffled from the trunk. "I heard the alarm...I'm scared..."
"Don't worry sweetie. Just sleep. You'll be safe once we get home." He pulled out, passing by the guard station with a flash of his I.D.. Nearly twenty minutes later they were pulling up to his house. "Okay, Alice. Let's get you out and to bed."
Alice came out of the trunk and looked at the sky again. The cold air froze her body but she didn't mind. She was finally out of that place. She was finally free. She grabbed her rabbit and held it close.
"Come on, sweetie," he said, pulling her along as he opened up the door to his house. He turned on the lights and shivered as he turned on the heat. "Are you hungry?"
She nodded and looked around his place. It was nice. Windows were everywhere and his living room back wall was nothing but glass so she got the perfect view of the moon. There was art everywhere and tones of things she hadn't seen before, like gadgets. Her hands ran over the pictures of him and people she didn't know then over his leather couch.
"So this is what a home is like..." she whispered to herself.
He smiled as he turned on the kitchen lights and took out a to go box from last night's dinner. Putting it into the microwave, he turned and grabbed his camera. Turning it on, he held it out for her. "There are the pictures of my date," he said. "If you see any R rated ones...just skip past them."
She took the camera and smiled. "He's so handsome," she said with a light blush. She pushed the button, looking at all the pictures one by one then blushed brighter. "Oh...you did much more than kiss..."
He blushed and looked away. "I might have engaged in some friendly groping and other stuff. He was rather handsome...all over."
She kept clicking. "So I see..." Her eyes widened. "Oh my! I didn't know two men could do that!"
His eyes widened. He peeked at the picture. "Oh! Why yes.... I could barely sit down today," he laughed.
Alice twisted the camera, trying to figure out the picture. She clicked to the next picture, it only got more detailed. Alice put the camera down, blushing madly. "I didn't know you liked it....like that...."
"Oh, I like it many ways," he grinned. "Oh, the things I would do to Matthew! Now he wouldn't be able to sit down for weeks."
"I don't think...I mean...he's mine, ok?"
He smirked at her. "He's yours is he?"
"You know what I mean!" she said and turned her head then yawned.
"Why don't you tell me," he teased. The microwave beeped and he pulled out the box. Grabbing two forks he handed one to her and opened up the box. "Eat, then I'll show you to your room."
She ignored the fact that he wanted her to talk about Matthew. Instead, she started eating. She moaned at the food. She didn't get food like that in the asylum. After she finished she put her fork down. "How long can I stay here?" she asked on a serious note.
He shrugged. "Until I die or move," he told her.
She smiled. "Thank you..." She pushed her hair behind her ear. "Ummm...what is your real name?"
He gave her an impish grin. "It depends. I go by two names. My real name is Samuel Jacobs. You can call me Sammy."
"Then I will call you Sammy," she said with a nod.
"Yay! You used my name!" He smiled happily at that. Tossing the box in the trash, he took her hand and pulled her upstairs. "Get undressed and I'll grab you something cute to sleep in."
As she walked, she pulled her gown off and her panties. "Aren't you a little scared to have me in your home?"
"Not really," he shrugged. "I'm use to you, Alice, and this house gets lonely. We can be like sisters!" He smiled, taking her clothes from her as he went down the hall to his room. He came back with a silk nightgown and matching thong. "These are much nicer than your old night clothes."
"A thong? But I don't have anyone to impress," she said but started dressing anyways.
"Yes, well, I'll get you some normal panties," he told her. "All I have are thongs." Shrugging, he looked at her once she was dressed. "Beautiful!"
"The silk feels nice," she said smiling.
"I knew you'd like it." Taking her hand, he led her to the room adjoining to his. Turning on the lights, he motioned to it. "This will be your new room. I'll get you some items to make it feel more like...well, we'll do something to it so it'll be special for you."
She smiled. It was huge! There were tones of pillows on the canopy bed and the soft pink walls went perfectly with the pink dresser. She walked over to the windows and opened the curtains, letting the moon light in. "It's perfect. I couldn't be more grateful."
He leaned against the door and watched her. "I'm glad you like it." He yawned and stretched, checking his watch. "I'll call in sick tomorrow so we can spend the day getting you adjusted. I still have no idea what you're going to do while I'm at work."
"I'll manage," she said. She jumped on the bed and laughed. "It's so fluffy!" She rolled on it then crawled under the covers, her rabbit close to her. "Can you keep the door open?"
He nodded, pushing the door all the way open as he started to leave. "I'm right next door if you need anything," he told her. Blowing her a goodnight kiss, he went to his room, getting undressed and falling into the bed.
Alice smiled and looked at the window. She felt so safe, so happy. Even though so much bad had happened, all she really wanted was to enjoy the moment she had. She closed her eyes, hugging her rabbit. She wondered if Matthew was thinking of her.
He wiped the sweat from his brow and sat back and admired his work. He wasn't certain if it was beautiful or grotesque. Possibly it was a combination of both. Staring up at the dim light above him, he wondered how this had happened. They'd never lost a patient before, and now she was in the wind. Shaking his head, Matthew wiped his hands off and started undressing. He needed a shower and something to eat.
He shut the door behind him, grabbing a fresh set of clothes he took a shower. Tomorrow he and Dr. Till were going to have a chat.
Alice woke with the sun greeting her face. She let her eyes flutter open then sat up. Slowly, she crawled out of bed and went to the large window. Smiling she pressed her hand to it. Even though everything was dead with the winter chill, she thought it was beautiful.
She ran across the room and to Sammy's room. Flinging open the door she laughed. "Good morning!"
Sammy yawned curling up in his bed, pulling his pillow to his face. "It's too early," he moaned pitifully.
She walked over to him and crawled in his bed. "But it's such a beautiful day," she said as she laid her head on his pillow and stared at his face.
"There are plenty of beautiful days," he told her. "But very few which I get to sleep in." He smiled, scooting away. "I don't really sleep in much..."
She poked his nose. "And you are not sleeping in today either."
"But I wanna sleep," he whined, burying his face in his pillows.
Alice pulled at the pillows. "It's my first day of freedom..." she whined.
He sighed and looked up at her. "Okay. Okay. Let me put on my face and get dressed and we'll have some fun."
She smiled. Leaning over she kissed his forehead. "I knew you would come around."
He groaned and nodded. Yawning, he moved beneath the covers, not wanting to lose their warmth. Getting up, he stretched, revealing that he wasn't wearing much aside from a thong. Going to a dresser, he pulled out drawers and opened his closet. "Take your pick of anything you like," he said with a smile while grabbing some clothes for himself as he went to the bathroom to get ready.
Alice walked over to the closet and looked in. She smirked at the large selection. Pulling out a few things, she decided on a skirt, a sweater, calf high socks, and calf high fuzzy boots. She looked at herself in the body mirror, but didn't go near the mirror itself. She twirled around in the skirt decided that even though it was short for winter, she was happy with it.
After his shower, he got dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a tight sweater. Walking to her, he smiled and hugged her from behind. "You look so cute! Today we're doing something that all girls do. We're going shopping!"
Alice smiled at him. "I've always wanted to do that!" she said excitedly. "Do you think anyone will know...that I escaped for an asylum?
She winced and hissed. "What was it like? Did you kiss him? What did you do? Where did you go?"
