Matthew shrugged. "That's okay. I told you, I liked it when you did that. It turns me on. So when I'm sane, I'll just think last night was a really big turn on." He nuzzled her neck, shuddering in her arms. "I'm an addiction.... I like that."

Alice leaned more against him. "It's like there are two of you..."

"No more than there are two of you," he said while cradling her body to his. "Sane Alice and Dr. Psycho Alice."

She sighed. "Yes but...I guess it seems different since I know I can be...insane but I don't remember any of it." She suddenly froze and pulled back. "That night...in the woods...I remember that smile on your face when I thought you...." She stepped back from him. "It was real...you did kill the director..."

"Oh, him? Yes. He was quite annoying. It was rather fun carving him into pieces."

She paled. How many people did he kill? How many had he blocked for him sane mind? "It was all real...I knew it..." she muttered. Once again she took a step back from him. He could have killed her then too. Why didn't he?

He nodded, obviously oblivious to her sudden state of fear. "Yes, it was. Luckily you blacked out before anything truly bad happened."

"Truly bad?" Did he mean he intended to kill her and she got lucky enough to shut up before he did? She moved her hand to the door and twisted. She was moving so slow. Honestly, she didn't know what he was capable of. He could kill her for just be afraid. But how could she not?

"Yes. I didn't want to traumatize you with you seeing what happened to the Director," he explained.

"Traumatized?" Really? Was he stupid and insane? He killed a man right in front of her and she wasn't suppose to be scarred from it?

"Yep! Unfortunately he pressed my hand when he tried to drug you. I couldn't let him do that. So drastic measures had to be taken. You were still conscious at the time. I should have made certain that you were asleep, but alas, I didn't. Oh well. No harm no foul."

"But you killed him!" she yelled. "Why would you just kill someone?" She needed to get out of there and she needed to warn Sammy. But Sammy told her he saw the Director when she was told he packed his things and left. Did that mean Sammy knew Matthew killed the director?

"He was hurting you. He deserved to die."

"That's a stupid reason..." she mumbled.

"I do believe that you thanked me for protecting you," he said with a smirk. "Would you have preferred that I let him live. That you still be in a daze thanks to his drugs?"

"You took someone's life. Even if that person is bad, it's not you that should judge whether he lives or not." She opened the door.

"Oh, I didn't judge," he smirked. "I was only doing what you told me to do."

"I never said kill him!" she screamed. She walked out of the room and rushed down stairs. Quickly she went over to Sammy. "We have to get out of here," she whispered to him.

Sammy looked down at her curiously. "Why?"

Her eyes pleaded with him. "He...killed the director...it's not safe..."

Sammy looked at Brian who stared at them curiously. A sight escaped his lips as he nodded. "Brian, get me a glass of wine."

Brian reached for a bottle, but Sammy stopped him. "No, use the good stuff. I'm going to need it." Taking Alice's hand, he pulled her along to the living room. "Let's talk, Alice."

"Talk?" she shook her head. "This isn't the time to talk!"

"Yes, it is, Alice." He made her sit down, trying to keep her calm. "So, what exactly did Matthew tell you?"

Her eyes narrowed. "He killed the director and for all I know he could have killed more people. We can't stay in the same place as him."

Sammy sighed and nodded. "Alice, in all the years you've known him has Matthew ever hurt you?"

She shook her head. "But what is to say he wouldn't?"

"Because if he was going to he would have already," he explained. "Do you know what the average life of one of his patients is?"

She couldn't relax as she sat next to him. "Why is that relevant?"

"Because an average patient lives about 3 months under his care," he told him. "Yet you have lasted several years. He will not hurt you, Alice."

She pushed her hair behind her ear. "He...killed his patients?"

"In a manner of speaking. Most died during his experiments. He refrained from doing anything serious to you. I don't think that he could bring himself to hurt someone as innocent as you."

She looked at the stairs as if waiting to see Matthew. Though she wanted to fear for her life, she just couldn't really ever see him hurting her. He loved her...and she loved him...even if he frightened her. "I see..."

"When Matthew goes all crazy, I treat him no differently than you. A little nudge, a shot, and maybe a straight jacket. I feel as comfortable around him as I do around you. Do you really think I would want to have sex with some psycho murderer?"

Alice blushed. "I suppose not..."

"See? I would ravage Matthew's cheeks so hard he couldn't sit down. So he's not that bad, Alice. He's just a more...mature version of you in some senses."

She looked at the stairs again. "I do love him...I suppose that if I want to be with him...I have to love all of him...."

He smiled and rubbed her cheek. "He loves all of you. It's only fair."

Matthew walked down the stairs, slowly fiddling with his shirt as he did so. He stopped, looking down at Alice and Sammy. Pushing his glasses up on his nose, he started buttoning up his shirt, at least halfway. "Sammy, where's your antiseptic?"

"I think it's in the kitchen." Sammy looked at Alice. "Would you show him where it is?"

Alice stood and walked to the kitchen. Going to the cabinet, she pulled out the first aid kit. "Sit down...I'll fix you up." She didn't know the first thing about first aid, but she could try.

Matthew looked at her curiously. "Are you certain?" He had no objections, but she didn't want to have anything to do with him if he remembered correctly.

She nodded. "Yes."

"Okay..." His voice was soft and calculated. His hands slid over the buttons, until his shirt was open for her. He kept his eyes trained on her, confused as to why she was suddenly acting so differently around him.

The way he acted...she knew he was back to his normal self. She moved her hands over his chest, copying what Brian had did to bandage her. "I'm sorry about earlier..." she said. "I was just in shell shock I suppose." Her eyes met his. "I really do love you." He couldn't remember what had happened so she needed to fill the pieces in a new way. "I hope you can forgive me for yelling and saying I didn't want to see you anymore...and I'm sorry about..." she looked away, "raping you..."

He nodded slowly to what she said. "I told you before that it...really didn't bother me this time. Not like it was suppose to, I guess. I forgave you, Alice and I'm fairly certain I enjoyed it...so there's nothing wrong. I didn't blame you."

She cupped his face and kissed him strongly, her lips pressing hard to his while slow tears slipped down her cheeks. When she finally broke the kiss she pressed her forehead to his and didn't open her eyes. "I love you so much, Matthew. And you accept me for who I am. I will stand beside you always," she whispered.

He was clearly surprised by her sudden actions and her words. Reaching up, he stroked her face, his thumb wiping her tear stained cheek. He didn't understand what she meant, but he didn't put much thought into it. "I love you too," he whispered.

She smiled and pulled back slowly. Once again she started wrapping his body. She could see her teeth marks in him and a part of her felt like they were love bites...like she was marking him. "At least everyone will know you are taken at school..." she said as she looked at the bite marks on his neck. He couldn't cover those.

His hand slid up to his neck, there were two marks which were too high up to really hide. "Yes, either that or I was attacked by a vampire. They'll probably end up scarring," he sighed. "I guess I'll have to borrow some of Sammy's turtlenecks so people won't see them."

She moved her fingers over them. "I think you should show them off. It means someone loves you," she smiled. "And that if someone ever tried to hit on you...I would kill them."

He smirked at that, his hand covering hers on his neck. "Love marks or sign of ownership?"

Alice shrugged. "I like both." Leaning in, she lightly kisses his marks.

He shuddered as she did that. The bite marks were sensitive and it sent waves rolling through his flesh. "Me too..."

She smiled, her lips not leaving his skin. Her arms wrapped around him. "I'm sure you do."

He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into him while he breathed in her scent.

Brian looked at the couple, his lips twisting into a grin as he grabbed two glasses of wine and went to check on his own lover.

Alice kissed his marks again, moved her hand to pushing his hair back. She sighed. "I hope it's always like this."

He shuddered against her as she kissed the marks. "Like what?"

"Like this very moment. When we are calm and relaxed...and in love," she said against him.

"Ah, I see," he whispered. "Yes, I believe that I would like that very much."

Alice moved her hands over him, pulling herself closer. It really was like there were two of him, like she just had a conversation with one side and has a conversation with the other. Which would she be more likely to open up to more? Which side would she love more? What if she couldn't love one side at all? There was so much to think about, and yet, in the end...she thought of the Hatter.

He nuzzled her neck. Looking down at the beginning of a bite mark, he opened his mouth and let his teeth rest over the marks. Perfect match. His tongue flicked over her as he sighed against her. "Are you hungry? Those eggs smell good."

She pulled back slowly. "Yes," she said. She walked over and grabbed the eggs, then sat next to him. First, she fed him a bite then she feed one to her.

He took the bite, his eyes meeting her's as he slowly nibbled on it. "If I continue my work on the college, do you think you'll be able to refrain from attacking my female students?"

She shrugged. "I think it really depends on the girls..." she said honestly and gave him another bite. "It would be easier if I just didn't come visit you there."

"Well, that's just it. I was wondering if you wanted to take some classes there," he said in between bites.

Alice chewed silently for a long moment. "If you want me to...then you need to make something that will suppress my...well...darker side."

He thought about that for a few moments. "It will take some time. I'll have to test the effects on you till I find the right combination." He took another bite. "That also means I'll have to draw out your dark side to see if it works."

Alice stiffened. "Put me in a strait jacket when you do that," she said. "I don't want anything bad to happen when it can be prevented."

He shook his head. "I'd have to go back to the asylum to get one. I'll see what I can do. Hopefully nothing bad will happen."

She nodded as they continued to eat. "If you can't get the strait jacket, give me a shot with something that will knock me out."

He shook his head. "I'll keep one beside me, but I won't just straight up give you a shot or I wouldn't be able to fully test you." Smirking, he reached up and kissed her, letting his tongue dip inside her throat before pulling back and standing. "I have classes today, so I need to grab a shower and get dressed. I'll try to get the supplies I need today so we can start tonight."

Alice put the plate up. "Alright...I suppose I'll be here when you come home." It was strange saying that. Like they were married or something.

"Well, I would certainly hope so," he smirked. Taking off his shirt, he tossed it over his shoulder, shaking his head as he started up stairs to her room so he could take his shower.

Alice walked upstairs behind him. When she heard the shower start, she went down the hall to a different room. She called it the sun room but it was really just Sammy's work out room. Like the living room, the whole back wall was glass which let the sun beam in. She spent a lot of her time sitting in the sun light since it was too cold to go out. When she walked in, she said on the floor and smiled. It was snowing outside.

"So while they're occupied," Brian whispered as he pushed Sammy back on the couch.

"You naughty boy!" Sammy laughed. "I like it!"

Matthew got out of the shower and got dressed. No matter how he tried to get his shirt, he couldn't cover the bite marks. His cheeks were a bright red color as he was getting dressed. There would be questions. Oh, there would be questions.

Alice rushed down stairs. "It's snowing!" she yelled. She quickly turned around when she saw both Brian and Sammy's shirt off and Sammy dropping his pants. "Sorry...." she said quickly with a blush and started rushing back upstairs.

"Sweetie!" Sammy cried, trying to pull up his pants, but Brian wouldn't let him.

Matthew was walking down the stairs as she was coming up. "I'll see you after class," he smiled.

She only nodded, her blush keeping her from thinking of much else. Moving past him, she finished running up the stairs and hurried to her room to find something to keep her mind off things.

Matthew frowned as she ran past him. When he reached the bottom step, he saw something which would forever be burned into his mind. "Ah! My eyes! They burn!"

Alice pulled out one of the many books Sammy gave her and started reading it.
