Chapter 3

 

Rei was going through hell. He had never been more upset in his life. He had been avoiding everyone, even Johnny. Johnny was both upset and angry about Rei's state. Kai had been the one who had caused all of this. The only thing he wanted to do was punch that annoying Russian in the face for getting Rei so distressed. Rei had strictly forbidden Johnny to do anything like that, and Johnny did what Rei asked grudgingly. He didn't want Rei to get any more upset then he already was.

 

The neko-jin had taken to staying outside for long hours, training in solitude, or just sitting somewhere where no one could find him. He hadn't attended any of the matches between the Bladebreakers and the Majestics. Rei realized that hiding from Johnny and Kai wasn't going to solve his problems, but he couldn't bring himself to confront either of them. He had talked to Johnny little since the incident, and he had talked to Kai even less. He couldn't even bear to drag himself to his room at night, knowing that Kai was in the room next to his. He just wanted to scream out his frustration. He had to choose.

 

Johnny.

 

Or Kai.

 

Or Billy. (Sorry I had to put that there. To tempting.)

 

He leapt from the tree had been sitting in, growling slightly. He couldn't get any peace with this on his mind. His long hair twitching like a tail behind him, the neko stalked angrily back to Oliver's house.

 

Barging through the door of a certain green haired French man's study, Rei threw himself into a chair, hugging his arms around himself. Oliver looked up in surprise as the ever absent Rei suddenly appeared before him.

 

“What is it Rei?” He inquired softly, noting Rei's obvious distress.

 

“Kai. Johnny. Jealous. Damn it Oliver!” Rei yelled, his emotions unraveling as he spoke. “I liked Kai so much, and I wanted him to notice me! So I asked Johnny out to try and get him jealous. I'm so stupid. I started to like Johnny, and before I knew it, I loved him, and then Kai got jealous. Oliver! I need help!” Rei had started to cry.

 

Oliver walked around the desk and pulled Rei into a comforting hug.

 

“It's ok Rei…You just need to tell both of them your feelings, you cant leave them both in the dark. Let them help you. You can't hide this from them forever.” Oliver lectured tenderly. “Go and talk to both of them. I think they need to talk to you to.”

 

Rei blinked his eyes rapidly, holding back tears. “Thank you Oliver…I'm sorry to have caused all this trouble.” He brushed his hand lightly over his golden eyes. Standing back he straightened himself, getting his mind set.

 

“Don't forget about our match tomorrow. I trust you'll be ready by then.” Oliver said, holding out his hand.

 

Rei clasped Oliver's hand in his own. “I wouldn't miss it for the world.” With that, Rei left the study, and went in search of Johnny and Kai.

Kai was training alone, getting all of his frustration out by beating the living daylights out of a punching bag in the training room. He had never been quite so angry in all of his life. He loved Rei so much. Ever since he had first met the Chinese blader he had been attacked to his cat like beauty. Something about the boy just made him want to pounce on him. Maybe it was the graceful way he walked, his feminine figure, or maybe it was just the fact that he was the only tolerable one of the Bladebreaker's team. All he could ever picture at night was the neko-jin's beautiful golden eyes looking lovingly into his as they made love over and over…

 

Kai stopped his assault on the punching bag as he heard the door to the training room open. Standing in the door way was the very same beautiful neko-jin he had just been thinking about. Rei shifted slightly, really not wanting to go through with this, but then he entered the room and walked up to Kai.

 

Kai simply starred at Rei, afraid that he might just be dreaming. Only when Rei began speaking did Kai actually believe he was there.

 

“Kai, I have to talk to you about something. I have to talk to you and Johnny both. But you have to promise me that you wont hurt Johnny in anyway. I want to solve this problem.” Rei said firmly, his golden eyes dead set.

 

Kai nodded slightly his gaze never leaving Rei's ensnaring golden eyes. Rei smiled at him, then walked towards the door again. “Come, we will talk.”

 

Johnny sat in agonizing silence, wait for Rei to return with Kai. When Rei had come to him, asking to talk, the Scottsman had been overjoyed. He had hugged Rei happily and agreed to talk to both him and Kai. He to had promised not to use any violence. Now he waited impatiently for his love to come back.

 

The door to Rei's room opened and Johnny's head shot up. He was in the doorway, being closely followed by Kai. The neko-jin walked calmly into the room, closing the door after Kai. Kai stood with his arms crossed, glaring at Johnny, who glared back with equal hatred.

 

Rei sighed at the two of them, then pull a chair into the middle of the room and sat down.

 

Taking a deep breath, he began. “Kai…I have liked you since I first laid eyes on you. And I have grown to love and respect you over the time we have been together as a team. I desperately wanted to have a relationship that was more than friendship with you, but you always seemed too cold…to isolated.” He paused, then looked at Johnny, who looked like his heart might break at any moment.

 

“Johnny…I ask you out only because I wanted to get Kai jealous.” A pained look crossed Johnny's face. “But during the time I was your boy friend…I got to know you, and I started to like you, even though I stilled like Kai. I found myself torn, unable to choose between you and Kai. I love both of you. And now I'm just so lost…I don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt either of you…but…I just…I just…” Rei was stopped by his overwhelming emotions. He started crying, covering his face in an attempt to keep it all in. He shuddered, sobbing as he lost all control. Both Kai and Johnny went to him. Johnny Held him in his arms, and Kai wrapped his arms around the sobbing boy also.

 

It took a long time for Rei to stop crying. Johnny and Kai held him for what felt like eternity. Finally the neko-jin stopped and he pushed them both away. Wiping a hand over his eyes, he looked up at both of them.

 

“I need to decide. But I want both of you to know that I love you. No matter who I choose.” He stood and went to the door. “I need to think, so if you would leave…”

 

Kai and Johnny looked at each other and then walked to the door. Johnny's boot clunk against the floor as he turned to bid Rei farewell. Taking a long look at the beautiful Chinese man, Johnny took his slender hand in his own and kissed it lightly, bowing over it. Rei gave him a water smile, brushing his long black bangs out of his eyes. Johnny left, leaving only Kai and Rei in the room. Rei looked sadly at Kai. His blue triangles where still there, as always, his black muscle shirt showed Rei his muscular frame. Rei looked away. He couldn't think like that. Kai walked up to him and took him into his arms.

 

“I'm sorry…This is all my fault. If I hadn't been so cold…” Rei shook his head and hugged Kai tightly.

 

“No Kai, Its not your fault…” Rei looked up into his red eyes. “I should have just told you, rather than trying to get you jealous…I'm sorry.” Kai kissed his forehead lightly, then left the room after Johnny.

 

“What am I going to do…” Rei questioned the silence softly.
