Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Out of the Shadows ❯ The fifth -Bladebreaker ( Chapter 4 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
It was 9:00am in the morning. The Bladebreakers had gathered in the glenn they used as training spot. All of them were there, exept one.
“Where is Ray” Tyson asked Max and the others. They all shook their heads. Yesterday he'd told them he would show up and now he wasn't there. It was odd, because Ray was usually the reliable one. It was always Tyson who was late, or Kai who sometimes didn't think it was necessary to show up at all. He'd always preferd to train on his own. But Ray skipping practise? That was something that had never happened before. They all looked a bit confunded.
“How come you don't know where he is Tyson? He is staying at your place after all” Max said.
“He'd already left when I got up, that's why I thought he'd be here with you guys” Tyson replied, thinking about what he'd do to Ray when they found him. After all, this was an important practise. They were preparing for the upcoming World Tournament. It was their first championships since they temporarily split up last year. Tyson hoped that they wouldn't have to face many more bladers like Brooklyn. He'd almost been defeated by Brooklyn during the World championships last year. That was during the Bladebreakers split -up. After that, they had reunited and was now training as a team again. Speaking about challenges, where had that girl gone the other day? It was impossible to disappear that fast. They had looked all over for her, but it was as if she'd disappeared from the face of the earth. It was very strange. She'd defeated him so easily, she fought not to let her bit beast out, and still defeated him. Would he ever see her again? Without knowing why, he hoped he would. He'd felt so wierd when he stood in front of her breathtaking beauty... Who was she?
Kai decided that they wouldn't wait for Ray any longer. It was up to him to show up or not. They started practising such as simple things as flexibility and movement. It didn't go well at all. Tyson and Max didn't seem to focus at all. Kai was going insane on them
“Tyson... TYSON. Focus or don't play at all” He roared for at least the tenth -time. It didn't seem to have any affection at all. Tyson's respons was just as crappy as earlier, and Max was not better at all. His blade was totally out of balance and he didn't seen to be able to do anything about it.
“Max get a grip, Tyson you're going the wrong way. All right Stop!” Kai spent the next five minutes telling them how lousy they had done and then they decided to get something to eat. Or to be exact, Tyson decided that it was time to eat.

They were all surprised to find Ray at Tyson's place. He was sitting in the garden by the pond, reading a buch of local magazines.
“Where have you been?” Tyosn asked with an angry voice. With an expression of surprise on his face Ray answered
“Hey guys, are you back already? I didn't expect you to be finished for another hour” He didn't seem to worry abot him missing an important practise at all.
“Do you realise that that was an important practise?” Kai asked him angirly. The only emotion Kai ever seemed to express was anger, of coarse there was more emotions to him, but he hid and supressed them for some reason.
“Sorry guys” Ray seemed a bit guilty “I just had to search through something. It's driving me nuts” He did a gesture towards the magazines on his lap. Tyson felt partially angry for the fact that Ray had dumped them for some research. But at the same time he felt a bit curious about what was so important that he skipped practise just to find it out.
“So, what is it you're doing?” he asked. The curiousity took the upper hand. He tried to see what was in the magazines that Ray was looking trough. It seemed to be ordinary magazines. Ray looked very serious when he answered.
“You know that girl from the other day? I could swear that I've seen her before. At first, I didn't know wherefrom, but I think I saw her in a magazine at the library” Tyson nodded understanding, but then he wrinkled his forehead
“But that would be in a relatively new magazine right? So why are you looking through those old ones?” Ray hesitated a bit before answering, after all, he'd first thought that he was crazy when he remebered where he'd seen the picture. If he doubted himself, why wouldn't they as well? Finally he sighed and answered
“Because I know that that picture was in an at least fifty -years old magazine. At first I thought that I was crazy, but after searching trough all the new magazines I started looking in the old ones as well. I could swear that the magazine I saw her in was fifty -three years old” All four of them just stood there, staring at him. Max was even thinking that he must have hit his head or something.
“Mm okay, whatever you say Ray, but you know that it sounds pretty crazy right? And besides, how do you know it was really her and not some relative or something?” Max asked while he picked up one of the magazines and started looking through it. Tyson and Kenny followed his example and took a bunch and began to search for the missing picture.
“It is possible that it was a relative, but you should've seen it. They could have been twins in that case, every feature was just the same.” Ray answered while turning page after page, looking at every picture he overcame. “Would you like to help us Kai?” he asked, thinking that he already knew the answer. Kai would of course just snort at him and wander off. But to everyones big surprise, he grabbed some magazines and sat down with the rest of them. What was wrong with him? This was the type of thing Kai never did. He was always the loner that never agreed to do something like this unless it was absolute necessary. The four of them stared at their quiet teammate but he ignored them, as usual.
Kai hadn't forgotten about the girl from his disturbing dreams. He hadn't slept calmly for a week, the dream was always there to disturb him. He was getting rather tired of it. He would rather die than admit it, but he was getting a bit curious about her. Who was she? He said to himself that he was only doing this so he would get rid of the stupid dream. But was that the whole truth?
The five of them sat there until only one magazin was left. They hadn't found anything and Ray started to think that he had mistaken when he picked up the last paper. He turned the first page and then he froze. He recognized this page, this was it. But the picture was gone. Someone had cut it out and left a hole where it had been. Tyson and Max looked above his shoulders.
“This was it. The picture was here, I am absolutely sure about that. Someone has cut it out to make sure we wouldn't find it” Ray said after a moment of silence. He looked up at his friends “Someone doesn't want us to find out the truth”
“But why would anyone do that? It doesn't make sense, there is no logic to it” Kenny pointed out. Ray looked a bit desperate when he answered. It was almost frightening, they had never seen Ray look like that
“But I'm sure that the picture was here, and that it was the Anya -girl on it. I know it's not possible, but haven't we seen strange things before? Maybe it is some sort of mistake someone did?” he asked. There was a quiet moment and then Kai got up and walked away. He froze for a moment sayin'
“Get a grip Ray. She was a girl and nothing more. She beat Tyson easily so I suggest that you take practise a bit more serious in case we ever come across her again” and then he was gone. As usual, he didn't bother to tell them where he was going. Ray gathered the magazines, looking thoughtful. He got up and was about to go and return the papers when he turned to his friends and said
“I saw what I saw. Belive it or not but I'm sure”

All of the Bladebreakers showed up for practise the following morning. But Ray was loom and quiet. He'd been that way all afternoon yesterday, and all morning. Tyson and Max were much more focused this time and everything was going as planned. Kenny planned and the others were following his instructions. They were preparing for the next exercise when a branch or something cracked nearby. They all froze. A moment later, a boy emerged from one of the bushes. He was tall. He was dressed in jeans and a black leatherjacket. His hair was dark -red and he had eyes that were so dark they looked black. When he grinned he showed them he had razor -sharp corner theeth.
“Who are you and what do you want?” Kai asked coldly. The boy didn't answer, he just stood there, smirking at them. Then he said
“I'm Xinou and you'll soon wish that you had never met me” Without any warning, a beyblade flew out the bushes. It was shooting towards Tyson in a terrible speed. He didn't have a chance to duck or get out of the way. It was just centimeters away from hitting him when another beyblade emerged from another bush. It hit the other beyblade with a sharp noise, causing it to change direction, missing Tyson by inches. The hostile beyblade shot back into Xinou's outstreched hand and he spun aroud and disappeared into the green forest. The other beyblade landed on the ground with a soft thud. It spun there for a second before it shot back the same way it had come.
“Who's there” Without waiting for an answer, Tyson threw himself into the bushes and ran off after it. The others gazed at eachother and without sayin' a word, they decided to stay and wait for him, rather than run into the forest and lose eachother. It took a while before Tyson got back. He looked very confunded
“I couldn't find anybody. I searched everywhere but I couldn't find a trace.” He seemed to hesitate for a moment before he continued “That beyblade who saved my ass, didn't it kinda look like the one the girl had?” They all seemed to think about it. The girl's blade had been black, hadn't it? And the blade who knocked off Xinous blade was black too. Could it be the same? Was it Anya who had been hiding and then rushing off in the bushes? After all she seemed to be an expert in disappearing fast and Tyson said he couldn't find anyone. But what had she been doing here? Spying on them? In a thoughtful silence, they left the glenn and went home.
.......~*~~*~~*~.......
That night, in a glenn not far from the Bladebreaker's, Anya sat by a fire. She was wrapped inside her cloak Adina sat but her side, purring when her mistress patted her on the head. Anya was thinking about her match against the world champion a few days ago. He hadn't been like she thoght he would be. She'd been expecting someone taller, older and more muscular. Instead, a average long, rather thin teen had stood in front of her. He hadn't the bodystrength of a champion, but still he was. Then he must posess an inner strength. If there was something she admired more than bodystrength, it would be inner strength. He hadn't been so strongly affected by her Nazgul's power as she had expeted, not at all. He was an remarkable boy indeed. And the other boy, the one with the purple eyes, Kai. Why had he been staring at her that way? She was used to people staring, but not in that way. For some reason, she'd felt a bit sad when she met his eyes. He seemed so cold and bitter, even though he was so young. It seemed almost like he recognized her. But it couldn't be, she had never seen him before. And the raven -haired boy, Ray, he had definately recognized her from that stupid magazine. The first thing she did after the match was to get to the library and get rid of the picture. No one could know, not yet.
Then she moved on to todays event. Tyson were lucky that she'd been around to see what was happening. To be hit by a beyblade in that speed can cause tremendously much damage. After all, they had been using beyblades in war a long time ago... She would have to get into town tomorrow to get something to eat. She was getting rather hungry.
.......~*~~*~~*~.......
It was 8:15am. This time Ray answered the phone when it rang. Tyson was still asleep. To his great surprise, it was Mr. Dickinson.
“Good morning Ray. I guess that Tyson is still asleep? You better go and awake him. I would like you two to come to the BBA headquarter immediatly. It's rather important that everyone is there.” Ray was a bit confused, but agreed to to as he'd been told. He hung up and whent into the room where they slept. Tyson was laying on his mattress with his quilt above his head. He walked to him and jerked the quilt off of him. It worked.
~***~
Half an hour later the two of them entered the BBA. The took the elevator up to Mr. Dickinson's office and stepped inside. Kai, Max and Kenny was already there. They were sitting on the couch, exept for Kai. He was sitting by himself as usual. Max and Kenny turned towards them when they entered. Kai just sat there, his eyes closed and his arms crossed. Mr. Dickinson spoke.
“Good morning boys, take a seat. Now, as you've known for some time now we are changing the rules of the sport, so that every team must have at least five players. It has taken me a long time to find you a new teammate, but I think that you will find that she is well qualifyed for the spot. If you just wait here for a moment I'll go and get her.” He left the room. The five friends waited. They all wondered who it was. He had said it was a she, a girl. And what did he mean with “I think you'll find that she is well qualified”?
The old man came back. Behind him came a figure hidden under a midnight -blue cloak. He went to his desk and sat down. Without waiting for the figure to reveal itself he said.
“I was rather lucky to run into her on the street this morning. It took me some persuation before she agreed to come here. Right Anya?” Every head turned to the cloaked figure. She rose two slender hands and folded back the hood. And there she was again. The girl that had awoken so many questions. She looked at them with her glistering green eyes. She looked so calm and graceful. The old man spoke again
“I thing you all agree with me when I say that she's qualifyed right?” He looked at them. They all nodded “Okay good, then the question is, Anya would you like to be the fifth part of the Bladebreakers?” He asked the girl. She rose her gaze to the window and seemed to study the sky a few moments before answering
“Yes, may it be so”
