And the battle was on...
Ray and Mariam's blades gained ground contact at the same time, accomplishing a loud thud. Both of the combatants fought like lions, neither was giving the other one the upper hand. The two blades clashed together and sparks flew in the dish. The heat in the arena was rising, both blades radiated unimaginable power. But Ray was faster and soon got some distance between himself and Mariam's Sharkrash. He began to use his head in order to beat the girl.
“Sharkrash, attack!” she shouted and her blade dashed towards Driger. To everyone's astonishment, Ray ordered Driger to hold his ground. With a high cracking noise and a light flash, the two blades met. Ray held his defensive style and when Mariam backed off to regain her composure, he ordered Driger to attack.
“Driger, use your Gatlin Claw attack now while she's weak!” The mighty white tiger rose from his blade. With a roar it darted towards Mariams blade, the huge claws flashing in the spotlight. With a giant blast of light, the two bit beasts dashed together. A cloud of dust rose in the pitch, causing everyone to cover their eyes. As the dust settled, you could see that only one blade was spinning, Ray's Driger was still standing. Mariams blade lied motionless in the bottom of the dish. The crowd cheered and Ray raised his one hand victoriously. With Driger in his hand, he turned and walked over to his teammates at the bench.
“Yeah, good match Ray. You kicked ass!” Tyson cheered and rose his hand to a high -five. With a broad smile, Ray high -fived him and sat down on the bench. Max and Anya gave him the thumb -up and Kenny smiled widely. Even Kai had the hint of a smile on his face. This was the best beginning they could have asked for.
Tyson stepped up to the bey -dish with the feeling that he had to prove something. Ray had defeated Mariam and given them a head start. Now he had to continue on that road. He just had to defeat that Indra -girl. Now that she stood in front of her, he could see that se was pretty tall. She was wearing the same sort of clothes as the others in Saint Shields. She looked strong and determined. Her black hair was pulled back from her face and her fiery brown eyes glowed in the bright spotlight. She even looked more like an Amazon when she stood up. She looked challenging at him
“Come on then and let's get over with it. Or are you afraid of me?” she asked Tyson. The statement had the exactly the effect you could have expected from Tyson. His temper rose like a tsunami wave.
“Who do you call a coward? We'll see who laughing when I knock you out of the dish” Within a second, he was ready with his launcher. His eyes were burning as Jazzman counted them in. And then the match began. Everything seemed to go on track and Tyson soon had the upper hand, totally dominating the game. He was getting more and more cocky and had just blurted out another `smart ass' comment about Indras blading when the girl seemed to snap. With a high shriek, the girl send out a wave of power. It totally took Tyson with surprise and he was almost knocked off his feat when the pressure wave hit him.
“Atida, come forth!” she shrieked. In a raging wave of light, a unicorn rose from the girl's blade. It was glistering white and had a lions tail. The mane, the hoof -beard and the tip of its tail was pure fire. The eyes were big and dark and its long horn seemed to glow with a ghostly light.
“Atida, Magic Shield. Pierce him with your horn!” Indra commanded. The unicorn seemed to be enclosed in a light -pink bubble made of pure energy. The beast darted toward Tyson's blade and as the two blades clashed together, an explosion of enlightened energy emerged from the blades. An echoing gasp sounded trough the stadium as everyone once again covered their eyes from the beaming light. When the light faded it was clear. The match was over, Indra had won. Tyson seemed to be in the deepest state of shock. Dragoon had flown so far off the dish that it had landed just before the other Bladebreakers feet. Kenny reached down and gripped it in his outstretched hand. He also looked to shocked to realize what had just happened. Again, a rookie had defeated one of the world's strongest bladers. Anya smiled secretly and thought “Strange things are at motion. Old spirits are awakening, soon it will begin...” Then she jerked. She could have sworn that she could feel someone stare at her, or searching inside her to be more exact. With an effort, she closed her mind and pushed the presence out of her conscious.
Up at the dish, Tyson turned around and staggered back to his teammates. With an empty gaze, he reached out his hand and retrieved Dragoon from Kenny. Then he sat down with them. Kenny seemed to have recovered from the shock of seeing Tyson defeated and he turned to Kai.
“It's up to you now Kai. You're our only hope” He didn't answer as usual, he just got up and stepped over to the dish. Well up there he turned around and his gaze searched its way to Anya. She nodded encouraging. `I believe in you Kai. Strength comes from the heart. Play with your heart and you'll be invincible'
Kai and Ozuma's match was something of a show. Since both of their bit beasts were based on fire, there wasn't just sparks flying in this battle. Fire blasts of pure energy rattled the floor in the arena and the temperature rose for every second of battle. In the end, Kai's power and experience won him the battle and a storm of cheering broke out on the Bladebreakers bench.

During the time of the battle, something else took place in the Godsends dressing room....
Five high shapes, wrapped in dark -gray cloaks stood in a circle. With dark voices, they chanted. The language they spoke seemed to distort their voices to grim, growls. The words sounded with an dark undertone, an echo of evil. They spoke the language of darkness, chanting an old prayer. The five shapes went silent. One rose its head and spoke.
“How shall we proceed master Galdor?” His eyes were black holes and seemed to glow with pure power. The voice were grim and his mouth were twisted in a death -grin. Another shape rose its head and answered him in the cursed language.
“The girl is the key. We failed once but it cannot happened again. As soon as she has defeated the seven, her soul shall be free once more. She will still be powerful, but she will be mortal. Then we'll defeat her and take control over the seven. With them and the power of our five gods we shall rule the earth. The girl must die, the hour of revenge is drawing near.” The air in the room seemed to glow with excitement. Another shape rose its head and nodded.
“Yes” he whispered. And then they laughed. Their grim roaring voices sounded like a wolfs howl.

And in a third room another discussion took place. The Unholy Alliance had gathered in their room and were speaking with whispering voices.
“Are you sure?” the black -and white haired girl asked her teammate. The pink haired girl named Trisa nodded.
“I'm sure Jesica. She's one of the cursed ones, I could see it in her eyes. She seemed to be glowing with energy. But what is she doing with those humans? She should be with us right Kelinka?” she asked the girl with the white long hair. Kelinka sat on a bench and stared at the floor. Her eyes seemed to be covered with a white coat. Suddenly she straightened up and turned to her teammates.
“I think she consider them her friends. I didn't get to search for much more, I think she noticed my presence” Kelinka said and twisted a curl of her white hair around her finger. The green haired girl, Mila snorted.
“That's ridiculous, you can't be friends with an inferior being. Humans are more pets than friends” At her words, something flashed by in Kelinkas gaze.
“Well she obviously disagrees with you Mila” she hissed. The girl with the black -and white hair, Jesica threw them an icy gaze.
“Stop fighting you two. She's partially right Mila, you are being a bit arrogant. You can always judge a leader by how she treats her inferiors” Jesica cut the two off. Then the fifth girl joined in the conversation. Her blue hair with the red strikes in it shimmered in the light from the roof. Her face was mild and expressed kindness.
“I think it's up to her to decide who's her friend and who's her enemy. I don't think that we are in a position to judge those humans she is in company with.” she said. Jesica turned her head to her and said
“Good said Hera, you are absolutely right. We shouldn't judge her friends, if she follows them they must be worthy of her trust.”
Mila still didn't seem fully convinced, but she kept quiet. They didn't want any fighting amongst them. They were supposed to be united in this darkened hour. The had a mission to conclude and they had their souls at stake. So even if she didn't always got along with Kelinka and Hera, they were her only friends and family. She'd always known that humans were an inferior race, even when she was still alive. They were weak, self-destructive, cold and frightened. She despised them. She despised her father more than anyone else. Her father had been a very frightened man, he'd left her and her mother to live in misery while he fled the field. She hated her father for being so weak and afraid. She had never had any friends in school. She had despised them too, `cause she could see right through them. See right through all their masks and layers of make up, see their real faces. How frightened and desperate they were. One day she had decided that she didn't want to belong to this frightened and weak race anymore...
But that had been a long time ago now. Many years had gone and she was happy now, or at least she would be as soon as she'd gotten her soul to the right place. In heaven...
