It was the morning of the fist day of the tournament. The Bladebreakers were sitting on the bus that would take them to the Trotskij -arena, named after Leo Trotskij who had been war-minister during the Russian revolution. Tyson had just woken up and was whining about the early departure from the hotel.

“I don't understand why we have to be here so early. The match isn't going to take place for about three hours, I could still have been sleeping now. I didn't get time to eat breakfast and I'm really hungry. Where are we going really?” Kenny was sitting on his seat with Dizzy on his lap. He was studying the data from their earlier matches against Saint Shields. Ray was staring out the side window of the bus. He had a dreamish -expression on his face and didn't seem to have completely woken up yet. Anya and Kai sat on opposite sides in the back of the bus. She was listening to music on her Mp3 and Kai sat with his eyes closed, pretending to be asleep, so he wouldn't have to talk to anyone. Poor Max was left to listen to Tyson and his eternal whining.

“Calm down Tyson. We'll get you something to eat as we arrive to the stadium. We are here to look at the first match remember? You thought that it was a good idea yesterday” Tyson became long faced. He didn't seem to believe that he'd been so enthusiastic about the idea the previous day.

“Hey, how come I don't remember me saying that?” Max smile cheery, by the time Kenny had suggested this last night, Tyson had been to occupied with stuffing food into his face to hear anything they said.

“Kenny asked us if we thought it was a good idea during dinner, you were very fast on agreeing with him...” he smiled at his rather tired looking friend. Tyson seemed bummed.

“I did? Aaww, damn it...”

After arriving and getting some breakfast for Tyson, the Bladebreakers found their way to the arena and took some seats. The first game would be All Starz vs. Shenanigans. Michael, Eddy and Brad would compete for All Starz and Xinou, Hentai and Toshio would compete for the Shenanigans. Kenny sat ready with Dizzy on his lap, he would analyze all of their performances and save it in the database. Michael was first up for All Starz, since he was known for making a striking appearance, he hadn't showed up yet. Kai had as usually taken his own seat a bit away from the others, he didn't need a computer to analyze a new player. He was sitting and staring into thin air when he heard someone sit down next to him.

“Why are you always sitting by yourself? They aren't carrying dangerous diseases you know.” Anya said to him. He didn't pay her any attention, but she didn't really care. She knew that he was listening.

“That Michael -guy seems to be a bit of a show -off” She said, expressing his very thought.

“He is. But he's a strong blader and his totem is magnificent” She frowned and didn't answer him at first. When he turned his head to her he saw that she was studying him with a thoughtful look in her eyes.

“Is strength the only thing you admire? I thought that cunning, tactics and heart was also important” she pointed out. Kai seemed to think about it for a while before answering.

“May be so, but you don't get anywhere if you're not strong” she didn't say anything. He was partially right, but she thought that they had very split opinions on what strength was.

Only minutes before his game would begin, Michael came strolling into the arena. By the look on his face you could tell that he knew that he had everyone's undivided attention. Without a word, he stepped up to the bey -dish and brought his launcher. At the opposite side, Xinou had also stepped up to the dish. The light in the arena reflected in his dark red hair and his funny dark eyes were glistering. He was still wearing that leather jacket with the red lining. The rest in his team also wore similar jackets. All black and made of leather. Xinou rose his launcher and prepared for the battle. On the opposite side, Michael did the same thing. Jazzman counted them in.

“3, 2, 1... Let it rip!” and to the roar and cheering of hundreds of Beyblade -fans, the two competitors launched their blades.
Something was very odd about this match. Michael seemed to dominate it totally. It seemed like Xinou had no chance at all, his beyblade were over and over again knocked out off Michael's way. Michael seemed to consider the battle won and was only playing with his opponent. Finally he turned his gaze to his opponent and said.

“You know what, I'm tired of playing with you now. Time to finish this, Trygle!” he called for his totem to finish the job. When the giant bird rose from Michel's blade, Xinou began to laugh with his eyes closed. The arena became deadly quiet. When the red haired boy opened his eyes again, he had a nasty glimpse in them. And then he called out

“Tapper, finish him!” From his blade rose a huge dinosaur. It had a slender body and was walking on its two muscular legs. Each foot had one huge claw on it. It had a mid -length neck and jaws full of razor-sharp teeth. Its grin looked a lot like the one Xinou had on his face

“How do you like my Veloci Raptor, Michael? Makes your bird look pretty harmless, doesn't it?” he sneered. Michael looked as though lightning had struck him.

“Tapper, Claw -Rip now!” Xinou yelled and the huge dinosaur took a flexible jump at the bird. Its huge claws flashed and Michaels Trygle gave a high -pitch shout. A flash of light blinded everyone in the arena. When the light had faded everyone could see Trygle tumble to the side. The Raptor gathered itself and took another jump at the bird laying on its side. Another flash of light and Michaels blade bounced out of the dish. Slowly Michael turned around and stared at his blade laying on the floor behind him. He'd lost. A roar rose inside the arena, no one had expected this and the crowd was wild. Slowly with the look of deepest shock on his face, Michel walked over and picked his blade up and went over to his team. They looked just as surprised as he did.

Next up was Eddy for All Starz versus Hentai for Shenanigans. He still had that red neckerchief tied around his forehead and the piercing in his eyebrow gleamed under the spotlight. His eyes and hair were gray as steel and he still had that bored look on his face. They launched their blades and the battle was on. Sadly enough for All Starz, Hentai seemed to be more than Eddy could handle, and when he called for his bit beast Alydar, the match was over. The huge, powerful blue genie swiped Eddy's blade off the dish before he had a chance to retaliate. Eddy left the dish with his head and shoulders hanging. Hentai looked just as bored as ever when he returned to his teammates.

At last Brad, all Starz new player was up against Toshio, the happy looking blond guy from the Shenanigans.
The match was fierce and neither of the combatants seemed willing to give up. Brad called for his bit beast Jaws, an enormous white shark with huge jaws and five rows of glistering teeth. Then, for the first time, Toshio stopped smiling and called for his bit beast Venom. A big lizard -looking monster with poisonous fangs. They seemed to be equally strong until Brad called out

“Jaws, let's finish this. Bulldozer -punch!” and knocked Toshio's blade off the ground and out of the match. The All Starz had lost but they had done it with dignity. The crowd was absolutely wild, no one could have believed this.

Down at the bottom of the arena, the Shenanigans got ready to leave when the All Starz came over. It seemed like they wanted to thank them for a good game. Xinou just sneered at them and left but his teammates stayed behind and shook hands with the All Starz -team. They all seemed to be a lot nicer than their redheaded companion.

There would be a brake for an hour before the Bladebreakers game against Saint Shields, and everyone took the chance to get some breakfast. Kenny, Max, Tyson and Ray looked around and tried to find their remaining two teammates, but they seemed to have left the arena already. They decided to get to their private changing room and wait for them there.

“Hey guys, don't you think it's strange that Kai let Anya with him? When I try to do anything like that he tells me to get lost or something” Tyson wondered. The others seemed to think it over and it became Ray who answered him.

“Well, I think that Anya can understand him better than we can. She must have been through a lot so maybe she knows how to take Kai better than we do.”

In fact, Kai and Anya was still in the building, they were searching for Tala and the Blitzkrieg Boys. When they sat in the arena, Kai had thought that he could see his former teammates red hair on the opposite side. He'd decided to go and look for him and Anya had went with him. To his great astonishment, he didn't have anything against it. She didn't bother him as much as the others did, it seemed like she knew when not to speak. They would find Tala and talk to him and get something to eat. After that, they had to get back to the dressing room. They walked past a cafeteria, the line was pretty long. After that, they entered a long corridor. It seemed like every team that had entered for the contest had gotten a private dressing room. The walked past F Dynasty's and Unholy Alliance's before coming to a halt in front of the Blitzkrieg Boy's room. Kai rose a hand and knocked on the door. They, or at least she, could hear footsteps behind the closed door. The door swung open and there stood Tala. His face lightened up a bit when he saw whom it was.

“Hi Kai, come in and bring your friend with you” he said plainly and let them in. They stepped inside the room and she closed the door behind them. Bryan, Spencer and Derek whom sat together and seemed to be discussing something broke off and looked up on them. They nodded a `Hello' and Kai nodded back.

“So Kai, who's your friend?” Tala asked and went over to her.

“I'm Anya” she said plainly and stretched out he hand

“And I'm Tala. Kai and I grew up together” he said and shook it. She tilted her head to the side and gazed thoughtfully at him.

“So you used to live in the Abbey too...” he jerked and looked very surprised. As far as he knew, Kai never spoke about the abbey and especially not with strangers. He threw Kai a questioning gaze. His silent friend just shrugged his shoulders and said

“I don't know how she knows that” Anya turned her head to him and gave him a mystical smile.

“I know a lot of things Kai Hiwatari.” She blinked with one eye and smiled secretly before continuing “I'll go and get us something to eat and let you catch up with your friend.” And she left the room, closing the door behind her.

Kai and Tala sat down and he was introduced to the two new teammates, Lloyd and Derek. Both of them had lived in the abbey for several years. Derek seemed to cope with it, but Lloyd just sat there. His blue eyes were like oceans and he had a permanent strike of sadness in his face. His black hair fell down over his face and he stared on the floor with an empty gaze. Whispering, Tala told Kai that Lloyd hadn't managed to take the pressure. He was a bit like an empty shell. The mind was there but yet not. The soul was gone, lost inside the darkness that dwelled in his heart. The only time he woke up to life was on the bey -dish, when he battled. Tala had a tone of the deepest hatret in his voice. He remembered which hell it had been living in the abbey, the only thing that kept him going was the fact that he had Kai as a friend. In the beginning, when they first met, Kai had told them that they would never break him and that he would find a way out of there. But as time went on, that flare he'd had when he arrived seemed to burn lower and lower. Tala had even begun to worry that he would do something to harm himself just to get out of there. But one morning he was gone, he escaped the clutches of Boris. Hopefully with his soul left intact, unfortunately Lloyd hadn't been as lucky. His soul was too lost to be found, he would probably be this way for the rest of his life. Kai seemed to be in a good mood today and spoke a lot. That was just like him, he was either less loomy and talked more, or he was moody and didn't speak to anyone.

“So, how's your little girlfriend?” he asked Kai with a irritating voice. Kai jerked as though someone had stung him.

“She's not my girlfriend” he said coldly.

“But you obviously like her...”

“No I don't, she just doesn't bother me as much as the others do” he replied. Tala smiled at him with a sly face.

“We'll see...” he smirked. Kai ignored him, he'd stepped on a soar spot. He didn't like anyone right? People was just annoying, sneaky and not worthy of trusting. He didn't like her, she just didn't bother him, that's all.

At that moment, Anya got back. She was carrying two big baguettes and two sodas. She was smiling and seemed rather cheery

“Oh, don't look like the world's about to end Kai. Smile and be happy, for there will be a sunrise tomorrow and the day after that. Here, I got you a baguette.” She handed one of them over to him. “We better get back to the others soon, Kenny will want to check your Dranzer before the game” He didn't answer her but she still didn't seem to care. Usually people got uneasy when he treated them like that. He threw a gaze at Tala who was thoughtfully studying the girl. In his mind, Tala thought that this girl could impossibly be an ordinary girl. She moved with the graze and elegance that only a queen could provide. Her whole being seemed unnaturally perfect, spotless and glowing with a mysterious shine. Perfect, radiating such power and such flame. A strange girl indeed. He couldn't blame Kai for liking her, even if he refused to admit it, even to himself.

Just as the other started to feel worried, Kai and Anya showed up. Kai handed over Dranzer to Kenny and let him examine him. He sat down and finished his baguette and Anya followed his example.

“Where have you guys been?” Max asked. Kai ignored him so Anya took pity on him.

“We went to see Tala and the other Blitzkrieg Boys.” Max got an `Oohh, right I knew that' look on his face and asked no more. After a fem minutes, Kenny handed over Dranzer to Kai again and declared him in perfect condition. Then they went out to the arena again and prepared for the upcoming match. Since Max and Anya wouldn't play today, they entertained themselves with playing `Guess the Word'. You were suppose to think of a thing or a word and give clues to the other one who would try and guess what it was. That was one of them many things that Kai and his father had never got the chance to when he was a kid. He hated the game. With a small growl, he turned away from them.

Ray stepped up to the dish and Mariam did the same thing. There was a moment of complete silence when Jazzman counted them in

“3, 2, 1... Let it rip!”

And the match was on...

How easy it is to forget a friend
You find a new and laugh once again.
I give you all I have to offer
But wonder what you're feeling inside

So be at peace
I wish to rest and remember
Let it live for a while
Because I want to believe
That there will be something tomorrow
Something that lives beyond today

Inside your heart the shadow still dwell
They tempt you to dance
for the time that has gone
but you are too afraid to face the truth
and doubt if you want to turn around

So be at peace
I wish to rest and remember
Let it live for a while
Because I want to believe
That there will be something tomorrow
Something that lives beyond today

Inside you heart the hope burns again
Out in the cold was there a friend
That found its way home
through fear and through stride
I wonder what you're feeling inside

So be at peace
I wish to rest and remember
Let it live for a while
Because I want to believe
That there will be something tomorrow
Something that lives beyond today

Hello again, here it is. The eleventh-chapter. PLEASE review and tell me if it sucks because I write a lot better if I'm under pressure. Btw, review anyway. What's good, and what needs some improvement? I'm thinking about writing another fic. It would be about Kai's time in the Biovolt Corporation. What do YOU think about that?// Author
