Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Out of the Shadows ❯ Relevations ( Chapter 10 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

The five Bladebreakers sat down with Anya as she had requested. The air around them was tense. Finally they would know who she was. She began.

“It is very complicated to explain my life. It began with someone who did a prediction. The prophecy was something like this:

Born out of fire
Born out of flame
The one who desire
From darkness she came

Banned from life, Anyanka the bright
Wanders the shadows, away from light
But time shall change and tide shall turn
If she fail, she'll watch the whole world burn

Wandering this world like a lonely ghost
She'll always be there for those who need her most

When I turned six, I lost my whole family. They were murdered by demons in man shapes. Someone wanted to prevent the prophecy from coming true. But I escaped. I aged like a normal person until I was sixteen, then time stopped to have any affection on me. I guess you would say that I became immortal. Many times I have tried to live as a normal human being... I have failed every time. People fear the things that they don't understand, and I fear that no one will ever understand me. I don't even understand who or what I am. My mission is to defeat the seven. Nazguls are the most awful things this world has ever seen. Forget the thing you saw just a few minutes ago. That was just a gargoyle, there are much worse things that dwell in the world of the damned. There are many different types of demons, this far I have seen Gargoyles, which are the weakest, the inferiors of the demon world. Then there are the drone demons and the soldier demons. I was attacked by a soldier demon the other night. Then comes the Legion, their powers are almost too much for me at the time. I haven't returned to my full strength yet, I will not do that until all the seven have awoken. And then comes the Nazguls. I doubt that there are any words to describe them.
I once saw a man who ended up face to face with a Nazgul. At the bare sight of it he fell trembling to the ground. When it moved closer and he began to scream. She screamed as if his blood was on fire, like he was tortured by the bare presence of this evil. Then it grabbed him. His scream rose higher and higher until it didn't sound like a mans scream at all. Then it dropped him and disappeared. But he kept on screaming, his whole body shaking... and then he clawed his eyes out with his bare hands. They took him to a Lunatic Asylum and put him there for the rest of his life. They couldn't save his eyes so he had empty holes were they had once been. And he never stopped to scream, never. He didn't ever recover from the horror he saw in the face of the Nazgul. Even though he is dead and has been so for many years now, I can still hear him scream inside my head. He never stops...
I must defeat these Nazguls and if I fail, the whole world will burn and the demons will reign. I have been given two tools to help me on my way. One is my sword and the other is my ring. I still have it thanks to you Kai” she turned to their captain. His eyes widened as he remembered the night before they flew to Moscow.

“It was you who put me on that place by the river” he said accusingly. She nodded.

“I'm sorry about that, but you had just seen to much. I realized that when you fell off that stub. I think you saw a reflection of the Nazgul I hold captive in my eyes. I had to erase your memory from that night. When you had that nightmare on the bus when we arrived in Moscow, I realized that I had partially failed. Somehow, a part of your subconscious still remembered what happened the night before” They all nodded as the parts of the puzzle fell to place. It was unbelievable, what she'd just told them. But they had seen the Gargoyle and it all fitted. Kai suddenly remembered something, not a real memory, more like a feeling and her voice saying (“Sleep calmly here Kai Hiwatari. You are safe here tonight but I'm afraid that will change soon”) He realized that it was Anya who had spoken those words, he didn't think that the others needed to know so he kept his silence. Instead he asked a question that he wanted an answer to.

“When I watched over you the other night you kept mumbling one word over and over again. `Ungul'. What does it mean? And in the glen that night I heard you speak some soft strange language too.” Kai asked her. Her gaze darkened as she answered him

“It's an ancient word from a forgotten language. Demons and other beasts speak it however. The word `Ungul' means just `Demon'. It's often called `the language of darkness'. The other language you heard me speak is called `the language of light' I have mastered both of them since birth” She said, her voice was loomy and she seemed troubled. Her five new friends sat there and let her words sunk in. It seemed unbelievable, but at the same time sense. Their bit beasts were not human right? They were old spirits that have been kept here on earth for hundreds, maybe thousands of years, so why would it be impossible that she was also something like that.

“So are you human, or are you a god or something?” Max asked. He was frowning and obviously had a hard time accepting what she said. She stared at her hands for a while. What would she answer? She didn't know what to think, they hadn't taken the truth as well as she had wanted them to. But it had always been hard for people to accept things that they didn't consider normal.

“That depends on your comprehension of a human. Depends on what a human being is to you” she answered. As Max observed her, he discovered a mixed expression in her giddying green eyes. A random mix of fear, anger, sadness, hurt, guilt and weariness. He saw a girl who had seen pain, suffering, hate and death, and still it wasn't any of that she feared. It was them, they had lived under the same roof for over a week and still, she feared them. He gazed into her eyes feeling almost hypnotized by the green gleam. (“People can be so cold”) He jerked, had she spoken to him? Instantly, he knew that she hadn't but he'd still heard her in his head. She rose up, suddenly radiating strength and power that laid as a magnetic field around her. It seemed like she was glowing and he could swear that if he reached out his hand, he would be able to touch it. Feel the power. She spoke with a voice that was soft but bitter at the same time.

“I am Anya. Nothing more, nothing less. What you make of me is your own decision. I have not asked to be born this way, it was not of my decision. I am different and for that I've been hunted, tortured and cast out. I have spent my life hiding from the people I'm meant to save because their mind couldn't accept me. So now you tell me what I am because I hold no answers” She turned her glistering gaze to them, her eyes carried the message of determination. They all felt spellbound. Her beauty was breathtaking, terrible and enchanting as the sea at storm. They felt awestruck, and then Ray spoke.

“What you have just told me sounds unbelievable, but I still believe you. Minutes ago you rescued me from a creature that could have been collected from one of my nightmares. You had a secret that we didn't know about, but who doesn't? If you think that any of those things would make me think less of you, you're wrong. I still consider you my friend and in my eyes, you are just as much human as I am. And I think I speak for all of us when I say this.” He looked around him. Max, Kenny and Tyson nodded agreeing. Kai kept quiet, that was his way of agreeing. He turned his gaze to Anya. She stood there, a look of shock reflecting on her face, and then she smiled. He whole being seemed to relax and she sunk back into the couch.

“Thank you” she whispered. They all smiled. They didn't know how much misery the future would bring upon them, and well was that. Darkness was approaching, the tide had turned and the seven was awakening. They were way too young and innocent to face the horrors the future would bring, she felt sad for them. But at the same time she was thankful that she wouldn't have to face the future alone. She decided to forget the future and live in the presence. With a grin she turned to Kenny.

“So who are we up against in the first match?” He opened the envelope and pulled out the match -schedule and unfolded it.

“Looks like our fist game is against Saint Shields tomorrow. According to this, Ray is up first against Mariam. Next is Tyson against the new girl Indra, and last is Kai against Ozuma. I think that Ray and Kai will be fine, but if I were you Tyson I wouldn't take Indra for granted.” But Tyson just waved at him and leaned back into the couch. He'd become a bit ignorant after winning the world championships three times in a row.

“Don't worry Chief, I'll be fine.” He replied. Kenny commented him in a icy tone.

“I would appreciate if you took this a bit more serious Tyson. We have never seen her play before and as far as we know she could be another Brooklyn or worse.” Kenny was almost yelling out the last words. Tyson held up his hands in a warding gesture

“Okay, okay don't go berserk now. I promise to take things more seriously. Hmm... by the way, isn't it time for dinner now?” Max, Ray and Anya laughed. The same old Tyson, would he ever change?

Kai looked as loomy as ever when he followed his friends' town to the restaurant. As always, he strolled a bit behind them. Suddenly Anya froze and waited for him. They walked together down the hallway. He turned his face and gazed at her. She rose one of her eyebrows as if to say “What?” He turned his gaze forward again and continued walking. She wondered if it were just her imagining it, or could she see the hint of a smile on Kai's otherwise so bitter face...

sitter du i mörkret
och sörjer det som var
så fastnar du i tiden, fast ingenting finns kvar
du slår dig själv i bojor

I nattens sista timma

Translation:

If you sit inside the darkness
And grieve for what once were
You'll linger inside your memories
Though there is nothing left there
You'll lock yourself in chains
That your bitterness has forged
And no one's allowed to enter
Your world of loneliness

Life can be your friend
But not until you live it
Fate can be reformed again
Chains can be broken yet
Death will come to you
Who is to be spared?
If you are happy or not
He'll come for you anyway...

In the last night of the hour
When your flare begin to fade
Death will come to visit
ask you what you want
he'll wait inside the darkness
that gather in you house
free you from your shadows
and blow out your flame

Life is just a loan
You are a flame
No matter from whence it came
It was lit just for you
Keep it as long as you can
Life is to dare
The one, small spark that burned,
was still enough light for me...

What is left of what you once used to have?
In the time that doesn't exist anymore
Is the life in the big blue awaiting,
When you dare to leave everything you remember?

Okay, this one wasn't that long. It was very hard to write because it's very hard to explain what Anya is. I don't even know it myself. For all of you who have read this far, I'm happy I have caught your interest with my story. PLEASE review if you have any opinions regarding a character or the story.
