Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Out of the Shadows ❯ I hold my Silence ( Chapter 9 )

.......~*~~*~~*~.......

Kai fell asleep and woke up several times during the night. It wasn't Anya who woke him up, even though she was still mumbling the same word. `Ungul' over, and over again. It was his dreams, or nightmares to be more specific.

He saw the whole world burn. Every forest, every bush, every flower was on fire. The heat from the burning ground was unbearable. He staggered around, feeling dizzy from the raging heat. And there they stood, a family. Mother, father, daughter and son. Pointing at him. Behind them, their house disappeared into the flames. The fire reflecting in their eyes. And then they came, crawling out of the huge crack in the earth. Awful things with huge wings and claws. Their eyes where darkened holes full of evil. They hunted the fleeing humans, hunted them down and killed them without any mercy. Ate them alive or dragged them down the burning hole they came from. Terrified screams echoed through the roaring fires. Next out of the hole marched creatures that looked like they were made of fire and ash. They were huge and ran on four legs. Their speed and strength was horrifying to witness as they darted over the burning ground, killing everything in its path. Everything they touched turned into dust. He thought about a row in a tale from the catholists Holy Bible. Jesus had just drawn a demon out of a man and he asked the demon “Who are you?” and the demon answered him “My name is Legion, for we are many”, and there they were. Legion, and they were many. The ground was covered with the disgusting beasts. Like an ant colony. And when the Legion had marched out, they came. Drifting without touching the ground, they came. Covered under black cloaks. In their footsteps followed the end. People screaming and fleeing. The brave men who had raised weapons to stand against the demons froze at the sight of `Them'. With the most awful screams the men dropped their weapons and fell to the ground. Shaking through their whole bodies the lied there, screaming. And so they did until the winged -creatures came and dragged them down the burning hole in the ground. The seven-cloaked figures turned their glowing eyes towards him. His last thought was “Alackaday! Who can stand against this evil? Why have you turned away from us God?”

And then he woke up. It came back over and over again, leaving him at no peace. During the time he was awake he studied the girls face. Even though the wounds and scratches it was beautiful. The expression on it betrayed of disturbing dreams. He couldn't help wondering if her dream was the same as his. He felt torn between his two selves. The part that didn't want anything to do with this girl, and the part that felt undisputedly drawn to her. This night she had looked both so strong and so hopelessly broken. He didn't understand how such duality was possible, but it was. Would he ever know what had happened to her? Why she was so secretive about everything that she was? He didn't know, but somehow he felt that something was different with her. She wasn't like other people, and he didn't mean in personality or something like that. No, it was something else that was different about her. She began moving, a look of agitation on her face. “No” she mumbled, “No, please. Not again, please no more...” He lifted his hand and placed it on her arm. She became calm again. And so he sat for the rest of the night, until dawn came. He rose up and walked to the door. While there, he turned around and looked at her. With a small jerk he thought that he saw that the wounds on her face and arms had began to heal. They looked smaller. Then he shook his head and left the room.

A while later, the five boys named Tyson, Max, Ray and Kenny entered the kitchen. They were surprised to find Kai there.

“I thought that you would watch over Anya?” Kenny asked their sullen friend. He turned his icy gaze to the boy with the thick glasses and answered him

“The girl is fine, I left only fifteen minutes ago and she was fine then.”

“The girl has a name though” Max replied sharply. He didn't usually spoke against the team captain, but he thought she deserved that much respect. Kai turned his icy gaze to him. Glaring. The others felt a bit nervous, Kai didn't seem to be in a very good mood today. They sat down by the table and waited for Anya to wake up. Kenny soon began discussing strategies with them.

When Anya woke up, her body felt soar. The soft sunlight warmed her skin, healed her battered soul. She felt calm and aroused at the same time. She thought about the following nights events.

It had gone pretty well at first. She had patrolled the streets, searching for anything that looked suspicious. At first the night had been calm, too calm she soon realized. She was in a narrow alley when she felt the smell of the creature. A wage stench of evil. And then it had attacked her, knocking her off her feet. She heard the rattling sound when her dagger hit the ground a bit away. That was not good. She wasn't as strong as she'd once been, and without the dagger she was practically defenseless. With an effort, she tossed the creature off her. Without looking at it she crawled towards the dagger and gripped it. Then she jumped to her feet and swung around. She saw that it was a `Scharlakan', a soldier demon. It had crooked, long legs and razor-sharp claws. The short crooked back line and a mid -long muscular neck made the demon look almost like a huge Alsatian dog or a jackal. The head looked almost like a human head with the skin pealed off. The lipless mouth looked like a death grin and the huge teeth shimmered in the wage light from the moon. It had a bats nose and the eyes lied deep in their holes, blacker than the night. They gleamed with an insane luster. A deep growl rose and sunk in its throat. And then it flew on her. They fought for a long time, she'd had as much as her body could take when the beast gathered for the last fatal jump. “I'm going to die” she thought, and then it jumped at her. The force when the creature hit her threw her to the ground. She could smell the stench of evil and death that came from it. She could feel its huge claws rip in her flesh. But then it froze, a shudder flew through the huge furless body and then its hot black blood flooded down over her. The force in the clash had sunk her dagger deep into its body. With a jerk she forced it further in and the beasts body began to twitch. She threw the dying creature off her and got up. Before her eyes the big body stopped to twitch and became still. And then with a howling noise the body turned into dust and the black blood that covered the ground slowly faded away and disappeared. She was weakened and she knew it, so she headed back to her new friends. But she hesitated a bit first. Could she trust them not to call the hospital? If they did she would be finished. It had happened before, in fact not long ago. She came in one night, almost dead from blood loss. But the next morning when the nurse came to care for her wounds, they were almost gone. It had rose a lot of unappreciated attention. In fact the magazine that Ray had seen with her on a picture in it had wrote a story about it. After that the human world was not safe for her, people have a talent for fearing the things they don't understand. And they would surely never understand her. The people these days didn't believe in miracles or tales of old days. Therefore she was banned from the light. But she finally decided to trust them.

She got up from the bed and looked around. She was wearing a big T-shirt and shorts (Tyson's she believed). She changed into a pear of jeans and a black vest. Her wounds had already began healing, thanks to the sunlight probably. She was a child of the sun and therefore it helped her body healing. She pattered to the door and opened it

They all turned their heads toward Anya when she entered the room. They gasped. Her wounds were practically gone, except for a bite wound on her left shoulder. The scratches on her face were entirely gone and she didn't seem to feel weak at all. With that much blood loss she shouldn't be able to stand up. Her eyes told them that she knew what they were thinking. That she'd seen it before. She spoke.

“Don't look so frightened, I'm not going to bite you. I know what you think. `It's not possible' right? That's what everyone thinks. It's in my blood or something. My body heals thrice as fast as it should. It's very rare.” They all looked a bit calmed, except Kai. He could see on her face that she was lying for some sort of reason. But he kept his silence.

“What was it that attacked you then? A bear?” Max asked

“No, not a bear. The thing that attacked me is something worse, much worse. I doubt that you've heard about it. It's called a `Scharlakan'.” They all seemed settled with her explanation, except for Ray. He looked wondering.

“Why didn't you want us to take you to the hospital?” he asked her. His yellow-ish eyes gazing into hers. Looking for some sort of reaction.

“Bad memories” she replied with a tone that told them that this conversation was over.

.......~*~~*~~*~.......

Later that night the Bladebreakers arrived to the conference that would announce the beginning of the Beyblade World Tournament. It would take place in a tall building at the center of Moscow. When the team entered the foyer, several camera flashes blinded them. The press was very eager to get to talk to the world-known team holding the four best bladers in the world. Anya soon rose many of the journalist's attention. She was wearing a blinding white, long sleeved dress. The hem went all the way down to the floor, covering the fact that she was barefoot. (she was always barefoot) They asked a lot of questions about her and her blade. She answered their questions very avoiding. Then they went into the conference-room. The tables in it were placed so that they formed a big quadrangle. Every table had five (and in the Bladebreakers case six) chairs and was marked with the team's name. They went to take their seats. They spend the next minute's eyening their competition. There were some old faces and some new.

Closest to them sat the Barthez Battalion, Miguel, Claude, Aaron, Mathilda and some new girl. The girl had fire-red hair and similar eye color. Her skin was bright and almost pale. She looked like she was pretty short. They all seemed happy to be there and were studying their competition with interested faces.

Beside them on their left sat the White Tigers. Lee, Mariah, Gary, Kevin and to every ones big surprise, Daichi. He grinned happily at them. Tyson hadn't met him in a while and he had no idea that he had joined the White Tigers. It felt kinda' odd to see him there.

Then came the All Starz team. Michael, Rick, Emily, Eddy and a new guy they had never seen before. He was standing up at the moment and they could see that he was tall and looked strong. Like a swimmer, and maybe he was. He had messy brown hair and piercing blue eyes, it looked a bit like the someone had caught the oceans glister in them. He was wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans. He didn't look unfriendly, but he didn't look very friendly either. Reserved in a sort of way.

Then were the Blitzkrieg Boys. As expected were Tala, Bryan and Spencer there, and with them were two newcomers. The first one was thin and had half -long black hair that fell over his eyes. He had sad dark -blue eyes that seemed to have lost all their shine. He was wearing a black cape over his clothes that were buttoned the whole way up. He sat deeply sunken into his chair and didn't look at anyone. The boy next to him had spiky begie hair. His eyes were yellow and snake -looking. He had a small smirk on his face as he eyed his opponents. He was wearing some funny sand -colored outfit, a bit like Indiana Jones. He sat comfortably leaned back in his chair, and the look on his face told them that he thought that he was better than all of them. Kai felt a bit struck by wonder of Talas choice of teammates, maybe there was more to them that the eyes could see, he figured.

On the opposite side sat Raul and Julia from F Dynasty. They had three new members. Two Mexican looking guys who seemed to be twins. They had dark hair and brown eyes. They were wearing Bermuda -shorts and begie shirts. The four of them sat and discussed something. The fifth blader didn't take part of the discussion, she sat and stared into mid -air with a dreamish -look on her face. She had long blonde hair and turquoise eyes. She had a pretty face and small lips. Her clothes were average looking, a pink blouse and a happy -colored, knee -length skirt. She didn't seem to notice anything of what was going on around her. She just sat there, staring.

Then came faces they all recognized. Brooklyn, Garland, Crusher, Mystel and Ming Ming. They all looked the same way they had done he last time they had met. They had named their team the Revolution Team.

Next to them sat someone they remembered. Xinou and his team called Shenanigans. By his side sat some guy with gray hair. He had a pierced eyebrow and a bored look on his face. His eyes were just as gray as his hair and they looked cold. He had a red neckerchief tied around his forehead. Next to him sat another boy, he had turquoise hair and a bit lighter eye color. He had an intelligent awake gaze and he was studying his surroundings with an interested look on his face. The girl beside him had mid-length brown hair. Her eyes were big and green, dark green. She was talking to the fifth boy and she had a light comfortable voice. The last boy was tall and had messy, blond hair. He had glistering purple eyes and he laughed a lot. He seemed friendly and threw happy looks at the other teams.

When Tyson turned his gaze to the next team he frowned.

“Godsends, what kind of name is that? Talk about arrogance, who do they think they are?” he whispered to his teammates. Ray made a hushing sound and pointed at Anya. She was staring at the team called Godsends. She frowned. The ones in the team wore dark -gray cloaks so it was impossible to tell whom was hidden underneath. They all sat quiet, staring down on their table. Anya slowly shook her head and mumbled.

“No, no way, that's just not possible” The others understood she hadn't noticed that she spoken out loud and decided not to comment it. They wondered what she meant tough.

Next to the Godsends sat Saint Shields. The original members Ozuma, Mariam, Josef and Dunga had added another player as the new rules said. It was a girl. She had black hair that was pulled back from her face and brown hard eyes. She looked a bit like you picture an Amazon to look. Strong. She was talking quietly to her teammates and made nodding gestures to the cloaked people next to her.

Next to them sat some more familiar faces. Kane, Salima, Jim and Goki. Their new member was also a girl. She had orange hair and eyes. She looked wild and was pretty in a sort of way. She and Salima were discussing something with their heads close together. Kane and Jim waved at Tyson and the guys and they happily waved back.

“Whoa, I didn't know they had formed a team again. I hope we get a chance to meat them in a match” Max told Tyson who nodded agreeing. Kane and the others had named their team Generation X.

The last team was a team of bladers that they had never met or heard of before. They reminded them a bit of the Dark Bladers they had met some years ago. But these called themselves The Unholy Alliance. The team consisted of five girls, they were all dressed on black cloaks. The first girls' hair was black on one side and white on the other. She had big dark -red eyes. Just like her teammates, she sat quiet. The girl next to her had entirely white and very long hair. She had the same eye color as her friend. With a small jerk Kenny realized that they all had the exact same eye color, all of them. Dark -red. The third girl had blue hair with red strikes in it. She had pale skin and was very cute. The next girl had dark green hair and smooth skin. Her lips were painted black. Her eyes had lost all their shine and they looked almost dead. they were a bit scary to look at. Somehow they looked unseeing. The fifth and final girl had bright -pink hair,. Her eyes were glistering and full of life. She had bright red lips. She almost seemed to be glowing with power.

The Bladebreakers turned to each other. So there they were, their competition.

“What do you think Chief?” Ray asked Kenny. He seemed to think it over carefully before he answered.

“Well, there are many players here that we have met before, and that good because then we have some idea of how they play their game. But there has been a while since we played against them so we should be careful. They can have evolved a lot. Concerning the new blades I have no idea what to think. They don't look very dangerous, but you never know. I think that Xinou guy and his team can cause us some trouble. He seemed very powerful when we met him at the glen. I don't know more about the rest of the newcomers that you do” They all nodded, pleased with the explanation. They sat and waited for about ten minutes before Mr. Dickinson entered the room and announced the start of the conference.

“Welcome to this years Beyblade World Tournament. I'm sure that we all will have a good time during the whole tour. It starts here in Moscow and ends in L.A in the U.S. The rules this year have been slightly changed from the earlier years. This year every team must have five players. In every match, three players will go one round each. The team with two victories wins. All teams will battle each other. The six teams with the most victories moves on to the semi -finals. If a match ends in a tie it will be restarted. If the player is able to continue, he will. If he's can't, someone else from his team who hasn't played yet will take his place. You will all receive an envelop with a letter inside here today. The letter will contain Travel dates, match dates and the team you'll compete against.” When he finished speaking the doors to the room slid open and a man with a bunch of envelopes stepped inside the room. He walked along the tables and gave one letter to each team. Everyone opened their letter and looked through it. Mr. Dickinson waited until he had everyone's attention again before continuing.

“So, now that you've seen the letters. Are there any questions?” No one seemed to have any questions. Then he carried on

“Since everyone haven't met each other before, I think we should have an introduction. We could start with the Bladebreakers” Tyson, Max Ray, Kenny and Kai introduced themselves. When it became Anyas turn the Godsends team rose their heads for the first time. When she had introduced herself they turned their gazes to the table again.

Next up was the Barthez Battalion. Miguel, Claude, Aaron and Mathilda. The fifth and new redheaded girl's name was Jade.

They already knew the names of the White Tigers. Lee, Mariah, Gary, Kevin and Daichi

The fifth member of All Starz (the guy who looked like a swimmer) introduced himself as Brad.

The Blitzkrieg Boys new members were named Lloyd and Derek. Lloyd was the sad looking guy with the black hair and Derek were the begie -haired boy with the snake eyes.

The two new guys in F Dynasty were named Antonio and Rickardo. They were twins. The pretty blond girls name was Kali.

Then came Brooklyn, Crusher, Mystel, Ming Ming and Garland of the Revolution Team.

After that Xinou and his team the Shenanigans introduced themselves. The guy with the gray hair and the pierced eyebrow's name was Hentai. The boy with the turquoise hair -and eyes was named Raioko. The brown -haired girl's name was Yoko and the blond guy introduced himself as Toshio.

Next up were the Godsends. Without removing the cloaks hood, the first one introduced himself as Alden. Then came Kargon, he didn't remove his hood either, no one of them did. The next ones name was Jargo. After that came Orgon and Galdor. They said nothing else than their names.

Saint Shields new member were named Indra. She seemed like a girl of strong will. After her, Ozuma, Mariam, Dunga and Josef said their names.

Next up were Kane and his Generation X -team. Jim, Salima, Goki and the orange haired girls name was Tracy.

Last was The Unholy Alliance. The girl with the black and White hair was named Jesica, the long, white haired, Kelinka. The pretty girl with the blue hair with the red strikes said her name was Hera. The green haired girls name was Mila and the pink haired was Trisa.

Then Mr. Dickinson told them to get back to their hotel rooms and get some sleep, because tomorrow was the first day of the tournament. Tyson and Max was about just to rise up when Kenny said.

“Wait, I think we should stay together, and I need to speak to Mr. Dickinson” So they stayed until everyone else had left and then they got up to speak to the old man. Kenny was eager to find out who the Godsends and the Unholy Alliance were. But the old man just shook his head and answered that he didn't know. They had qualified without anyone knowing that they even existed. Kenny was a bit downhearted when they left the big conference room. They were surprised to run into the five-cloaked Godsends outside. They stood there blocking the hallway. Suddenly, one of them looked up at Anya.

“Anyanka” he whispered. His voice sounded almost like a growl

“Her name is Anya, not Anyanka” Max defended her. They all started laughing

“They don't know anything yet? Not even you true name?” By his words, Anya forced her way pass them and ran and disappeared around the corner. Max, Ray Kenny and Tyson pushed their way pass the Godsends and ran after her. But Kai stayed behind.

“What did you mean with that?” he asked coldly. The five of them laughed again and then one of them said

“Ask her about the prophecy” And then they walked by him and disappeared the opposite way.

They found Anya back at the hotel. She was sitting at the couch in their room. She was twisting her hands in her lap with a nervous look on her face. They went and sat down with her and asked her what the guy had meant. She didn't answer, it seemed like she couldn't hear them at all. Then Kai came back

“Where have you been?” Tyson asked angrily. Kai didn't pay him any attention. He went to one of the armchairs and sat down

“What is the prophecy?” he asked. She jerked and her eyes flew to their sullen captain.

“What? How can you know...” she asked him sounding both frightened and confused

“They told me” he replied. She sighed and looked at them. Her eyes were filled with pain and fear. Then she drew a deep breath.

“I guess that you all deserve to know. I just didn't want you to find out this way...” There she was interrupted. With a huge crash, the door into their flat flew open and something came tumbling in. It seemed to be one big mess of wings and legs. An inhuman growling rose through the things throat. Anya flew up of her seat and yelled.

“Get out of the way!” She took a jump at the creature but was thrown back when it threw out one of its strong arms. She landed with a thud on the floor but was back on her feet only a second later. The thing got on its feet. It was a Gargoyle, she saw. It warbled with its big wings an roared. She rushed towards it with her dagger in her hand. The creature saw her coming and threw itself on her, hoping to knock her off her feet. She saw it coming dashing at her and she rose the dagger and thrust it into the gargoyles paunch. With a terrible scream that seemed to freeze the blood in their veins, the gargoyle imploded and turned to dust before their eyes.

“What the hell was that?” Tyson yelled. His eyes were round as plates and he looked frightened. Anya bent down and picked up her dagger, then she went over to the couch and sat down. Come and sit with me and I'll explain...

.......~*~~*~~*~.......

When you accept that I'm not like you,
that I don't like the same things as you,
that I don't like the same people as you,
or the same music as you.
When you understand that I will never be like you,
and that you'll have to like me for who I am.
Then,
I shall talk to you
But until then,
I hold my silence...

You stopped and left the car
The last thing I
can recall
A raging wave of light
Vaporized
All this life

You ran into the field
Incapable to breathe

Rest in peace it's all over now
It's the end of salvation
Memories in the photographs
Of the last generation
Of the last generation

I've seen this in my dream
A petrified
family
Pointing hands at me
Victims of
the tragedy

And dust replaced their souls
Hearts turned into stones
Minds turned into stones

Rest in peace it's all over now
It's the end of salvation
Memories in the photographs
Of the last generation

Okay, here it is. The ninth-chapter. Sorry about the cliffhanger, I just couldn't make it any longer. Now can you guess what she's about to tell them? What the prophecy is and what `Ungul' means? Hehe, I wouldn't guess so. PLEASE review and tell me why you have read this far. What is good and what is worse?
