Under the moon, you cannot hide...
It was past eleven in the morning and the six Bladebreakers were sitting on the plane that would take them to the next place of the tournament. The location was Stockholm in the (to them) unknown land called Sweden. Tyson was stuffing his face with airplane breakfast and seemed to have recovered from the early departure. They had awoken him by eight, which was early if you asked him. The others didn't quite agree but kept their mouths shut. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Except for Kai of course, his one and only mood seemed to be more or less loomy. But Tyson, Ray, Max and Kenny had all got used to it and didn't seem to be bothered by it. Max was thinking that they were a bit alike, Anya and Kai. No one of him and the others seemed to be able to figure out what was rushing trough their heads. They were a bit like blank pages, reflected nothing until you wrote something on it.
The evening after their first match, the Bladebreakers celebrated their victory. Tyson still had a hard time to accept his loss against the fiery Indra. And it was a bit odd though, that someone could just show up from nowhere and defeat the world champion. Even though he had an ego on the size of Brazil. But he got over it and they had a nice time. Anya forced Ray to dance with her, and they laughed their way half to death while doing it. Everyone except Kai seemed to have a great time. He on the other hand seemed to be grumpier than ever, and was sitting stiffly on his chair and glared at everyone who dared to look at him. He went to bed early with the simple explanation that he was tired. Somehow, Max had a hard time believing him. He had a feeling that there was something else bothering their captain, but he didn't dare to ask. The day after that, they had explored the city a bit closer and packed their bags. Kai had gone off to speak to his old teammate Tala. They had gone to bed early to be in good shape this morning when the plane would be leaving, and here they were now. Max had never heard of a land called Sweden before, but Kenny had told him that it was just as cold as Russia had been. It was in the late March, but the weather was a bit funny, and there was till snowing in the whole country. He'd felt a bit disappointed, he wasn't very found of coldness.

Kai had thanked his lucky star that he hadn't been forced to sit next to Tyson on the plane. They had known each other for very long now but he still found him bothering at times. Though they were his `friends'. It felt odd to even think the word. He hadn't got many friends, except for Tala, whom he had grown up together with at Biovolt. But they had known each other for three years now and that was a long time, so he guessed that they were his `friends'. Except for Anya who he had just met. He felt torn because of her, it seemed like she knew what was going on in his head all the time. Like she could hear what he was thinking, and he was sure that she hadn't been totally honest with the story of her life. She hadn't lied but she still kept things from them. He felt annoyed because he was thinking of he again but she left him at no peace. For that he found her annoying, and for her cheery attitude of course. But somehow he felt drawn to her. How could she know about the abbey? He certainly hadn't told her and it was impossible that she had ever lived there. He could tell that by the way she talked and walked. Even though she had obviously been through some bad things and rough times, she had never put her foot inside Boivolt, he could tell. Because though the hint of scars she showed, she was still whole. No one who had lived there could remain whole afterwards. They broke you down, no matter how strong you were, until the only piece that was left was the cold and hard piece that you loathed so much. He was cold but it was not of his choice. When he arrived there, he'd thought that they would never break him. He would fight them until he had found a way to get out of there. But as time went by they broke him and he had left all hopes of escaping behind him. The only reason that he got out of there at all was because he literally happened to blow a hole in the wall. How Tala. Bryan, Spencer and the two new guys, Lloyd and Derek had gotten out was to him a mystery. But back to the point, how could she ever possibly had found out about the abbey if she wasn't a mind reader? He felt a bit threatened around her, and every time he spoke to her she left him awestruck with more and more questions running trough his mind. And the night before when he had seen her dance with Ray, he'd been struck with aversion. Why? He didn't know but he just couldn't stand to look at them, so he told the others that he was tired and went to bed. Max looked as though he understood that that was just an excuse, but he was smart enough not to argue with him. What in the world was happening to him?

Ray was sitting in his place with the headphones on. They were connected to a hole on his armrest and played some odd music from an odd Swedish channel. He didn't understand a word of what the artist sung, but the melody was kinda' nice.
There would be three Bey-matches in every town and country they visited. The third match in Russia had been between White Tigers and the Barthez Battalion. (he didn't understand why they kept that name. Their former -coach was not with them anymore. Maybe they jus liked the name.) To everyone's surprise, the Bathez -team had won. All the players were equally strong and no one seemed to be able to get a hold of the other one. The first match ended with Miguel defeating Kevin. Then were Daichi and the new redheaded girl Jade up against each other. That match ended in a tie. The third match was supposed to be the tiebreaker bit it didn't turn out that way. Aaron lost to Lee and there had to be held a fourth match. Claude went up against the Jade -girl and the match was rough. Both bladers called for their bit beasts to help them and they left the bey-dish in ruins. Jades beast was called Trinity. At first, Ray couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the huge white wolf emerge from the girl's blade. Trinity was enormous, she had two tails and huge paws with sharp claws. The beasts' eyes seemed to be made of lightning and she had the carriage of a wolf queen. The beast was horrifying and stunningly beautiful to watch. But Jade seemed to have a bit of a problem handling the power of her beast, and lost the match. The Barthez Battalion 1, White Tigers 0. Shocking was the word of it. But they had improved much over the past year, especially Claude. But still... shocking.
The evening after their victory had been the funniest for a long time. Everyone had seemed to be exceptionally cheery and the food had been awesome. Anya had turned out to be a very good dancer, better than him in fact. It had felt good to dance again and she seemed to be glowing with life. She'd said something like this to them “when the minutes have froze in your darkened day, then sing and dance it all way” So they did and it was funny as hell. But Kai had looked as though someone had died, he'd mumbled something and gone to bed. Ray didn't know if it had just been his imagination, but he thought that Kai had given him an icy gaze before leaving. But maybe it wasn't so strange at all, he seemed to like her and she seemed to understand him in a way no one of the others (and him included) did. Maybe Kai was in love with her! Ray almost sneered at the thought of it. That old sourpuss being in love with the sweet and talkative Anya, his total opposite. Sure she was awesomely beautiful, but just the thought of them together was ridiculous. `Nah' he thought `I'm just being paranoid' and he went back to listening to the odd radio station.

Their rooms in the hotel in Stockholm were nice and cozy. Tyson and Max were `letting it loose' a bit and were jumping in Anyas double bed. Ray and Anya were chatting with each other. They seemed to have strikingly much in common. He had just told her about the elders and a funny little episode and she was giggling. Kai sat and stared sourly into thin air, he hadn't said a word since they arrived here. Kenny sat by the table and were fixing with Tyson's Dragoon, while printing on Dizzys keyboard at the same time.
Some minutes later, he called them to the table and brought the letter up. Their fist match was tomorrow already and it would take place in a arena called `The Globe'. It looked a bit like a giant golf-ball, they had seen it from a distance while riding their private bus to the hotel. It were supposed to have fifty thousand seats, and he'd read that the tickets were should -out. Carefully, he unfolded the letter and threw a glance at it.
“Looks like we are going to meet Kanes team, Generation X. Max, you are up against Salima in the first round, then Ray is facing the new girl Tracy...” Tyson looked puzzled.
“You know, the girl with the wild orange hair.” Max shot in. A second later, Tyson's gaze cleared as he remembered the pretty-ish, wild looking, orange-haired girl.
“Yeah, that's her” Kenny continued “And... oh no. Anya, you are up against Kane in the last match!” He blurted out while frowning. He'd hoped that she wouldn't have to face Kane who was a very strong blader. She on the other hand seemed perfectly fine with it and just shrugged her shoulders as if to say `Okay, so?'. They began explaining to her how they had met Kane, Salima, Jim and Goki in the first place. She looked a bit more concerned during their explanation but still seemed to be fine. So he decided that it was probably nothing to worry about.

Late that night, Anya half by half-staggered inside their hotel room door. She had been much more concerned earlier than she had dared to show them. It was to be a big problem. If this Kane-guy was as strong as they told her, she was afraid that she would have a hard time controlling her Nazgul. What if she lost control and something horrible happened to the boy? She had gone out on her nightly patrol to try and calm herself down. It hadn't worked as she had to fight two drone demons, one soldier demon and another demon she had thought didn't exist anymore. Above soldier demons in the dark realm, but thank God, underneath the Legion. They were called lord demons, or Scharaz in the cursed language. With its long flexible body in the size of a troll, poisonous fangs and stone club, it was a dangerous enemy. A human could never survive a meeting with a lord demon, luckily for her, she wasn't a human. Or at least almost not. It had just been one, if it had been more she probably would have been dead by now. But it had just been one and she had defeated it almost handily. Though one of the drone demons had bitten her pretty badly, also their fangs were poisonous so the big bite would take a while to heal and it would soon hurt like hell when the venom hit her blood system. The lord demon had gotten in a pretty good blow in her with the stone club and she thought that she'd broken some ribs. It didn't bother her though, they could break her body but her soul was safe with God. She believed that there was a God, and not just a god, the God above all others. A cruel but fair God that was watching over all of them. Watching without interfering, for evil isn't of Gods creation and therefore he does not reign of it. There will always be evil but when she looked into the faces of her teammates, she felt convinced that there would always be goodness too. For they were good.
She tumbled in trough the door, the venom started to kick in. And she was amazed to find Kai sit there in the darkness. It was well past two o'clock in the night and she'd expected everyone to be asleep.
~***~
He couldn't sleep so he went up and sat by the table, gazing at the stars, remembering what Anya had told him a week ago. “When people see the stars they see a universe of mysteries and magic.” And somehow, though his cold heart and numb body, he could suddenly feel it. The magic, it seemed to flow through him like fluid warmth. It healed his wounds as it went and awoke his sleeping soul. Sweet bliss filling every inch of his battered and damaged mind, allowing him to enter the divine light. The strongest feeling of peace entered him, and he felt settled, even happy. The stars had shined there for thousands of years and they would still shine many years after he was gone. There was no returning in time, no dwelling in the past. Just living in the present, with all its magic and mystery. The flawless beauty of the night, with its stars and the welcome silence. No disturbing people, no have-to, no distress. Just perfect and wild beauty. He couldn't recall being this happy for several years, but still, maybe not happy but at least at peace.
In that moment the door flew open. No crash as it smashed against the wall, just a fast, soundless swung. And there she stood, the girl he didn't understand. The girl he partially feared and partially felt irresistibly drawn to. Anya stumbled into their living room. She had a nasty bite on her shoulder and walked as though someone had hit her hard in the ribs. He recognised surprise in her gaze when she saw him sitting there. Without a word she staggered to one of the soft, cosy armchairs and sunk down on it. In silence, he went and got the first aid-kit and brought some bacterium -killing and some bandages. The shoulder of her long-sleeved dress was torn into shreds by the fangs of the beast she had met. He took a piece of cotton and carefully began washing it. The wound looked very nasty, like it was poisoned. The blood seemed to bubble a bit in it and he thought he saw a small string of smoke rise from it. When he gazed up into the girls eyes he suddenly jerked. Her eyes was clouded with pain, there obviously was something in that creatures fangs. Asking no questions, he continued as though nothing had happened. When he was about done with the bandage, she gripped his arm. Her grip was gentle but firm, he looked up and he saw the thankful expression in her eyes. He nodded, sometimes you didn't need any words to speak. As he retrieved the kit to the closet were it should be, Anya stumbled to the window and sat down on the naked floor in front of it. He froze, hesitating what to do.
“You should go to bed and get some sleep.” She said to him with a husky whisper. He was just about to do as she'd said when something happened. (“But stay if you like. The night is beautiful, but lonely”) He felt a chill down his back. Had he just hears that? Undoubtedly, but he was also pretty sure that she hadn't said it. He made a quick decision and went over to the window and sat down next to her. She turned to him and smiled a bit, her eyes dizzy with deep pain. He could definitely see the smoke rise from the bite now.
“Does it hurt?” he asked, a bit confused by the fact that he really wanted to know. A shiver went trough her body as she whispered
“Yes” she swung a bit were she sat and let out a smothered moan. Her head bent forward her body began to shiver and she whimpered. The sound was heart ripping, she sounded like a tormented animal or something. He found no way of shielding against the sound, it cut trough him. Made his mind squirm. Half against his will, he out his arm around her shoulders, felt her shiver under his touch. She gazed up at him again. The look in her eyes was something he'd never seen before. It was like every human emotion you could possibly feel had found its way into her eyes. Amazed, he found himself seeing the whole universe in her gaze. Planets and galaxies so far away suddenly seemed so near, almost near enough to touch. He felt the warming bliss transfer from her into his arm. Spreading into every inch of his body. And for a short, dizzy moment, the rest of the world stopped. Time froze and there were no pain and no fear. The scars he'd carried for so long seemed to disappear, all his guilt and pain departed. And for one endless, infinite moment he was in heaven.
“There is still hope...” she whispered to the spellbound boy.

On the same time, not to far away, another scene played. Five cloaked girls stood in a circle. They were chanting, waiting for something. Their eyes glowed with a ghostly light. The five of them emitted courtesy and power. Jesica, Kelinka, Hera, Mils snd Trisa. The Unholy Alliance. They waited for their freedom in the light of the moon. Their disguises would uncover and they would become who they were born to be. The moon was covered with a cloud that would soon sweep aside, its mighty light would reveal their real forms.
And then the cloud that covered the full moon swept aside. The moon was huge tonight and somehow seemed to be a lot closer than usual. Guarding over the lost spirits of the earth. And under the blue moonlight, the five girl shapes began to change. One whispered:
“There is no hiding from the moon...” and a silent cry in agony stirred the otherwise so calm night...

17 chapters so far and I've noticed that there are some who have read this far. It goes kinda' fast to write for me and I think some has a bit of a trouble to keep up. On the other hand, there aren't many active Bey-fics right now so I wonder if some just read this because there are no else. I really want to write this whole story, but on the other hand I find it hard. That's why I write this, PLEASE review you second opinion. I know it's not that fun but I kinda' need the constructive criticism. Thank You for taking part of my story this far// Author
