Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Out of the Shadows ❯ What is real and what is not? ( Chapter 22 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

It was dark again, this was her world. The world of fear and darkness she was caught in , her nightmare. She had been here so many times before, and she already knew what would come next. She saw the road ahead, it streched for miles and miles away until it was absorbed by the darkness. Though she didn't want to, she began walking down the darkened road ahead. She could hear them closing in on her, carried on swift wings. She began running as fast as she could. But she knew that it was futile, she couldn't escape them. They were her destiny, her greatest gift and at the same time, greatest curse. And then she fell hard to the ground, though it was a deram, she could feel the pain in her head clearly as a dagger through her heart. Her every being was whining, whimpering. And then they came again. The visions, playing like a movie in her head, over and over again.

A young blonde girl in a black robe at her graduation day. She was waving at her parents as the car she rode in began moving. There were four other students in the car with her, all of them were busy with waving att their friends and family. Too busy. Neither of them paid any attention to the intersection ahead. No one saw or heard the truck. Not until it was way too late. The students car was a white convertable, white as snow. There was no stains or bloodspatter on it, yet. The cae was gaining some speed now and still no one heard the truck. The car rolled out in theintersction without anyone looking around. And then came the truck. It smashed into them with a noise that reminded eveyone of bones beging crushed, and someone began screaming. The car was pinned to the front of the speeding truck, and it didn't fell of for a minute or so. And then, with a screeching sound, it losened and was thrown off the front of the bolting truck. The buckeled teenagers were still sitting in the car, alive somehow. The girls mother swore that she heard her daughter scream as their flying car crashed into the concrete wall. The five teens sat still and quiet now. Their white car was smeared with blood and black oil. The faces of the students were tainted with blood. Some of them weren't whole, an arm missing or a finger. The life in the pretty, blond girls eyes were gone. They were open and covered with a layer of white fog. She saw the crying mother run to her daughter, screaming her name over and over again. But it was too late, way too late…

All the horrors she had faced in her long life came to life befor her eyes. Lives destroyed, crushed against the ruthless ground. She didn't know these people, and still they haunted her, leaving her at no peace. They were always there, all the people she could have saved. But she hadn't. God had stopped her, her cruel but righteous father. God works in mysterious ways, she knew that, and you should not go against his will. No matter what the stakes were. She just hoped that he took good care of them, in heaven, or hell, or wherever you went to after death. The memories flashe by faster and faster, until they were only a quiver of light and dark. She cryed and screamed in agony, feeling the pain as the truck hit the students. She could feel it hit her body, crush her bones.

Suddenly she could feel someone grip for her shoulders, draggingher back into the darkness. She screamed and tried to shake its hands off, because though she hadn't seen its face, she knew what it was. The Nazguls had come to get her. They had come to take her to him. She nails scraped against the ground, finding nothing to hold on to. The skin on hr fingetips was torn off, bood flowing and the burning feeling when she got dirt and gravel into her wounds. She screamed:

”NOOO…!”

Kai was shaking the sleeping girl as hard as he dared to. He whole body was twitching and she was screaming. He could see her eyes move fast under her closed eyelids. She wouldn't wake up, why didn't she wake up?!

He had been sitting in the couch outside her bedroom door, unable to sleep for some reason. He was thinking about how strange their lives had been since they had met Anya. Slowly he felt his eyelids grow heavier, and he must have fallen asleep. Suddenly he was awkoen but a terrifyed scream. He sat up, feeling drowsy from his slumber. Then he realized that the screaming hadn't been a dream. The screams came from Anyas closed bedroom door. Suddenly wide awake, he jumped off the couch and ran into her room. There he'd found her, her whole body shaking unkontrollable. She was waving her arms and shouting over and over again in agony.

And here he was, shaking her shoulders, wondering why she didn't wake up. And then her eyes burst open. Her gaze was tainted with pain and the wildest fear. She didn't seem to recognize him at first, but then her gaze seemed to clear and her scream was cut off. She was breathing heavily and her eyes wandered around the room. As if she was looking for someone, or something. And then she looked down at her hands and with a tormented whimper, her body began to tremble again. Confused, he looked down, and jerked.

Her fingertips were bleeding, the skin had been wered off. The soars were full of dirt, as if she had been dragged on the ground. How was it possible? Sh had been here all night, he was sure of that, and besides the soars hadn't been there when he came inside the room. It was as if they had followed her out of her nightmare or something. Like it wasn't a dream at all, like it was real…

He leaned forward and embraced her tightly. She sobbed once, and then again. Soon she was crying uncontrollably, trembling in his arms. He wondered what it was that had upset her so much. She didn't seem to be someone who just broke down and cried often. He'd alays thought that she was strong. He felt a bit uncomfortable with the situation, but hadn't the heart to just leave her like this. So he just sat there, wondering how you should handle a situation like this. But he found no answer…

The following days were calm ones for the Bladebreakers. Two matches were held, the first one was between the Barthez Battalion and Godsends. Miguel and Claude and Mathilda didn't stand a chance against the Godsends players, Jargo, Alden and Kargon. The were crushed like breadcrums by the ruthless Godsend-players.

The other match was between Saint Shields and Shenanigans. Not surprisingly, the Shenanigans won.

The others in the team noticed that Kai and Anya seemed to have developed some sort of friendship. Tyson was really jellous because Kai let her train with him, something that he never used to do. But other from that, their friendship didn't separate the team, it somehow brought them closer together. She almost seemed to fight to keep them together for some reason…

The third match in France was between the Blitzkrieg Boys and F Dynasty. Kai and Anya met up with Tala before his match. He seemed to have recovered well after his meeting with that demon and he wanted an explanation. He seemed a bit confused by their avoiding answers, but seemed to accept them.

Anya hurried off to find a couple of seats for her and Kai. He however stayed behind for a second. Tala was peering at him with a sly look on his face.

”You can't actually mean that you still deny that you like her?” he smiled. Kai seemed to jerk a bit and a faint blush rode on his cheeks.

”I don't know actually. There is something very strange about her, I just can't put my finger on it.” He replied, silently cursing the blush on his cheeks. Tala semed to sink into thoughts.

”Yes, you're right. There is something very strange about her…” he said delaying and nodded to himself. But then he seemed to snap back into reality. ”I'll se you around Kai,” he said and went down the corridor twards the arena opening. Kai turned around and went the other way to finns Anya and their seats.

The match between Talas team and F Dynasty was interesting. The blond Kali was up and batteling again and this time it went better for her. She got it to a tie between her and Spencer, surprising everyone. But the Blitzkrieg Boys dominated the rest of the game and last up were Lloyd against Julia. And again, the sad boy seemed to be reborn. He was glowing with a strange light as long as the match lasted, but as soon as it was over he sunk back into lethargy. The rest of his team steped up to the dish to recive the crowds cheering when the spotlight began to flicker.

Anya instantly knew what was going on, and she jumped out of her seat and drew her sword. So here it came, her biggest challenge this far. The rushed down to the arena bottom and jumped over the rail. Security came running to stop her, but she was to fast for them. She ran to the middle of the arena where she froze and raised her head to the roof above.

Kai was suddenly struck with the greatest fear he'd ever felt when he saw her stand there. Without knowing why, he ran down towards her, but he didn't get very far until something happened.

With a horrible, screaching sound and a flash of light and black mist, a shape riding a huge black horse emerged from thin air. Warbling with its leathery wings, the horse darted towards Anyas motionless figure.

She watched the thing come closer and closer, and then she swung her sword. As the two swordblades clashed together, a bolt of lightning appeared. The two fought each other with raging heat. The Nazguls power was terrible to behold, and even worse to fight against. She had never before faced such might and strength, and she felt herself quiver under the Nazguls gaze.

Up at the stair, Kai stopped. There it was, the thing from his dream. How could it be? Was that her mystery Nazguls? And then the creature screamed, it was a horrible, terrifying, heart ripping sound. He began to shake and fell to his knees, he put his hands over hie´s ears in a foolish attempt to silence the shrieking sound. It didn't work, it seemed like the sound came from inside him, tearing him apart. All around him, people crumbeled in their seats, screaming and crying of terror and fear. The air semed to go cold and every light in the arena seemed to dampen. As if the Nazgul consumed it by its evil.

Down at the bottom, the two fighting carried on. The Nazgul raised his sword and striked on her, but she fended off the strike with her sword. The Nazgul suddenly stepped back, threw his head back and laughed. A horrible, mental laugh. It raised its hand and threw what seemed to be a bowl of light at her. The bowl smashed into her body with a terrible might, lifting her off the ground. She flew back, longer and longer until she smashed into the wall behind. Pressing her against the wall, harder and harder. She felt her ribs crack and she screamed from the bottom of her lungs, the pain was so intense. And then the bowl disappeared and she fell towards the ground. With a groan, she hit the concrete floor. Struggeling to get up, she heard the Nazgul walk toward her, ready to destroy her forever. But then she felt like touched by the hand of God. A mighty power filling every inch of her body, and she stood up again.

Still on his knees, Kai looked up. He saw the Nazgul walk towards the defeated Anya and with a chock, he realized that he felt like going under by the thought of losing her. Totally out of his mind, he got up to run down there and try to protect her. But he never got that far. Anya suddenly seemed to be glowing with light, so bright that it blinded him. He heart the Nazgul give a tormented scream and he heard an explotion. When he looked up he saw Anya, but not the Anya he knew. The Anya he knew seemed to be gone and left was a new Anya. Beautiful as the sun and furoius as the sea, she seemed to have changed shape. She was ever more fair that before, but now she was also terrible to behold. Her features seemed to have been streched out, she was much taller than before. She was dressed in a shiny silver armor and suddenly he could see them. Her wings. Huge and whiter than snow they were, the sword in her hand shone with the light of the Gods.

”Shudder creature of darkness, for you have entered my world. Thou have no power over me, give up or be defeated. Thy brothers shall know and fear my name, for I am your master. By the power of God I command you, surrender to me.” Her voice echoed in the arena, empowered by the might of God . The Nazgul screamed, smoke rising from it, as if her light burned him. She walked towards it in what almost seemed to be slow-motion. And with a mighty shout, she thrust the sword into the Nazguls heart. With a horrible sound that reminded of nails scraping against a blackboard, the Nazgul dissolved and seemed to turn into a bowl of pure energy. Anya threw her cloak aside and brought forth her Beyblade. And with a what seemed to be magically empowered voice, she whispered:

”Come to me…” The bowl sho towards her and into the blade and with a hiss, the Nazgul was gone. Anya however shone without fading. She walked over to the chocked Blitzkrieg Boys and froze in front of Lloyd. Leaning forward, as if she ment to kiss him, she whispered:

”He sees you, he hasn't forgotten.” And then she rose her hands to his chest and put them over his heart. The light in her seemed to transfer to him until he was glowing. And then she stepped away. Suddenly, Lloyd drew a deep breath and took a step back. And then, a miracle occured. The boy opened his mouth and asked:

”Where am I?” Talas eyes widened, Bryan swinged and was close to falling. Derek turned to his friend.

”Lloyd, is it you? I mean, is it really you?” he asked, not daring to belive his eyes. Lloyd turned to him and smiled, for the fist time in many years he smiled.

”Yes, it's really me. I have returned,” he turned to Anya ”It was you, you saved me. I don't know how you got me out, but you did… Thank you.”

The old Anya would have smiled and replied, but this new Anya didn't. In all her grace and power, she just stepped back and turned around. The Nazguls horse was still there behind her, and at her command, it followed her out of the arena entrance.

Kai suddenly found himself able to move again and ran after her. In the corner of his eye, he saw the rest of the team do the same. He ran into the darkened corridor with them behind him and found Anya standing there. But she was not alone, the Unholy Alliance stood there with her. Kelinka was smiling welcoming to her.

”Do you know who we are now?” Kelinka asked Anya. With no words, Anya nodded. Then the rest of the girls smiled too.

”What is going on here?” Tyson asked sounding angry. The girls didn't pay him any attention.

”Will you come with us now Anyanka? You know you belong with us…” Jesica said to Anya. She was quiet, hesitating.

Kai suddenly felt terrified. She was actually thinking about leaving them. He didn't understand why but the thought tormented him. Why did he feellike this? He realized that he was ready to fall to his knees and beg her to stay, but why? Why? But then she said:

”I can not. Forgive me, but my place is here. The time for us to unite has not come yet, but soon. I have sworn to protect my friends and I will do so.” Her answer seemed to devastate the girls. Down hearted, they turned to leave. But suddnely Hera turned to Anya again.

”We belive in you Anyanka, and we will fight for you until the end. For we are the same, do not forget that, ever…”

Late that night, a girl and a boy sat in front of each other in the moonlight.

”Why are you so afraid Kai.” She asked him. He found no answer to give her. He was cold, that was all.

”I cannot heal you Kai, only you can do that.” She whispered to him.

'Maybe Tala was right' he thought. 'But I'm cold. I would destroy her. Thank god I'll never tell'
