Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Silent Nights ❯ Ray Kon Vs. Renee ( Chapter 15 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

The two hours I had before our fight actually went fairly smoothly. Tala was being grouchy so I sent him away. Well, actually he left because he didn't want to blow up in my face. Anyway, it was a pleasant two hours of stretching my muscles and touching base with the new strength my body possessed. I could actually jump and touch the ceiling with the palm of my hand. When I was human maybe if I'd jumped off the bed I could brush the ceiling with the tips of my fingers. Now it felt like the room was shorter or I was much taller. I also had a surprising amount of control over my body. Normally in a fight I would swing my limbs around using the momentum of my body, but now I could generate just as much force with only my muscles doing the job. I didn't have anything to beat up so I couldn't test just how strong I was, but I'd have to say I was at least a good five times stronger then I was yesterday.

After a total of two hours of stretching I was ready for the fight. My body was probably just as limber as Ray Kon's would be, though he was just as flexible as a cat. Tala just had to come in at the most awkward of positions I could have been it. After all my stretching I was curious to see if I could pull my legs into a pretzel, which I did and got slightly stuck. When he opened the door I was trying to pull my leg up and over my head.

Once I freed my legs from behind my head we headed for the door. I refused Tala's arm when he offered and let him instead lead me towards the fighting ring. I was very glad my injuries had healed when my powers entered my body. Nothing would inhibit me besides this damn corset that I had been to stubborn to ask Tala to help me out of. It was cutting into my hip bones, but I could manage.

As we walked down the halls the people we passes looked at me with eyebrows raised and odd looks on the faces. Royal markings covered my body in elegant patterns telling everyone who saw me who I was. When I was younger the markings had only covered my arms and shoulders. Now that I was a complete woman the markings over took my whole body. When Tala's temper burned out I would ask him how to hide them. Until then everyone could get and eyeful of the real me.

Tala suddenly turned wordlessly into a doorless room with a large round platform jutting up from the middle.

“Wow, I feel like I'm at worlds again…” I couldn't help but to gawk at the sheer size of the room. It was like a basket ball stadium had been crammed into a classroom. The thing that caught my attention the most was the sunlight that poured in from the open roof. My feet dragged to a stop as I gazed up at the blue sky. I snagged Tala's sleeve and dragged him back to face me. “Is that… Real?”

My eyes must have been the size of golf balls as I stared up at the clouds. “Yes, it's the sky.” I slowly smiled.

“Ha!” I suddenly shouted. I pulled my head down and grinned at Tala. “If there are bets going around you better bet on me!” With that said I released his sleeve and bounded off towards the ring. It was empty, devoid of any rails or obstacles on the edge. I was happy. I had thought we were in an underground bunker, but as it turns out only the rooms were underground. The sun always welcomed me and I welcomed it with open arms.

“Well you are certainly in a better mood now, Princess Renee.” I turned and greeted my opponent with a large smile.

“It's a beautiful day. Who wouldn't be in a good mood, Ray Kon?” His golden eyes danced with amusement as he smiled down at me.

“True.” He laughed heartily and bowed to me. I returned his bow with a bow of my own. I couldn't remember how to curtsy so I didn't bother trying. “I'm sorry about the audience. My partner has a hard time keeping her mouth shut.”

I looked around at the seats and noticed for the first time that most of the seats were filled. I quirked an eyebrow and looked back to Ray Kon. “It's quite alright, though I can't imagine so many people having free time all at once.”

“They all gave up their chores to watch. It's not often that people of our stature fight for a reason other then to kill each other.”

“That would make sense, I guess. I'm just use to competitions and such. This large short notice crowd is just a bit of a surprise I guess.”

“Competition? Humans fight each other for prizes?” Ray Kon asked me in disbelief. I nodded.

“Yeah, all the time. It's their form of entertainment.” I shrugged. I participated in every tournament I could get my hands on. “Anyway, good luck Ray Kon.” I held out my hand to shake. He laughed and shook my hand.

“Do all women in the mortal realm act like you do?” I quirked an eyebrow at him and nodded. He laughed again. “Amazing.” He turned to towards the ring and hopped up onto the ledge without as much as a crouch. “Simply Amazing.”

I followed his path but at my own pace. I scrambled up the four foot ledge of the ring and climbed to my feet. The crowd suddenly grew quiet and all eyes turned to us. It was an awkward feeling being in a room full of maybe five hundred people with utter silence. I had grown accustomed to people shouting and cheering and making lots of noise. Instead this crowd was stiff and curious. It gave me the creeps.

“What were the conditions again?” Ray Kon asked. I looked up to see him standing about ten feet away with his sash in hand. He tossed it to the side where it landed just outside the ring.

“Hand to hand, no powers, no tricks. Just flesh and whatever doesn't willingly come off.” I turned my right shoulder to him and sank into my neutral stance. He nodded and took his own. His stance was rather odd to my experienced eyes. Maybe it was a mixture of Tae Kwon Do and regular old Karate, then again maybe it was just a new form a kick boxing. What ever it was I was ready for it. Tai Chi had always been my favorite. Though old people practiced it for exercise when the speed was picked up and you had someone who could contort their body without a care in the world it became lethal. It was just the technique I needed to handle someone bigger then me who was probably just a bit faster then myself.

This whole fight would be a new thing for me. I had never met anyone who could keep up with me in the human world. I was still a demon no matter how I looked at it back then. It gave me an edge on just about everything I did. Now we were on equal grounds, if not slightly tilted in his direction.

We stood in silence for a long moment. We were examining each other. If he shifted his foot a little I would tweak my body to stand a little higher. When I shifted my shoulders he would pull his arms just a tad closer together. We stood like this for what must have been ten minutes. Finally I grew tired of standing. I was going to trick him into coming to me. I waited for his next shift of stance which ended up being a slightly twist of his right foot. The counter move would to have been to bend my right knee just a slight bit more, but instead I leaned just a bit back.

He launched at me then, a sudden spring like action that sent him propelling through the air foot first. I ducked backwards avoiding his foot by inches. He landed just a few feet from my back. I used the momentum of my upward motion to swing around and plant the top of my foot against his shoulder, but he caught my ankle. My body jerked to a stop as my foot came stop. He jerked my foot around causing my body to spin. I could feel his claws digging into my flesh, but I ignored it. Using the motion he caused I kicked off my standing foot and spun with the motion and planted a solid heel into his cheek.

I tumbled to the floor as he released my ankle and stumbled to the side. As soon as I hit the ground I jumped to my feet. Ray Kon tenderly rubbed his cheek as I frantically pulled myself into a defensive stance.

“I'll be perfectly honest with you Princess. I didn't expect you to give up your only base.” I winked at him.

“Humans are unpredictable. I suppose I just picked up a few tips during my stay.” I shrugged, but ended up forcing my knees to give out so I could avoid an almost invisible sweeping kick. I shot back up and barely lifted my hand in time to lighten a second kick to my abdomen. I jumped back and took another stance.

The knuckles attaching my thumb and index finger were dislocated along with a few joints in my other fingers. I kept my face composed and grinning. His eyes narrowed suspiciously. I forced the muscles in my fingers to contract though the pain was almost unbearable to trick him into believing the kick had done no harm. If he knew I was injured he would pray upon my hand like a vulture to a corpse.

I took my turn and charged at him before he could set his next stance. My fist flew at his face, but he blocked and took his own swing at my cheek. I blocked his fist and we ensued into a flurry of fists. My hand hurt like the devil, but I pushed the pain to the back of my mind and used it to block one of his fists. We fought with our fists until he vanished. I blinked in surprise and looked around.

Suddenly my arms were lifted backwards and my head was thrust forward. I let a surprised yelp escape my lips as I was hauled back and against Ray Kon's chest. “Oh wow, an arm hold.” I chocked out as I tried to pull myself from his arms.

“It works. Resign and I won't pop your shoulders from their sockets.” I laughed at his threat.

“Like I'll ever give up,” I lifted my leg up into the air and made the motions to try and blow out his knee with my heel. He moved his legs just to the side like I had anticipated. As my foot passes his leg I turned my toes outwards and hooked the back of his knee. I yanked my foot forward forcing his knee to collapse and send us both tumbling sideways. I took the chance to wriggle free from his grasp and land on my knees a foot away. Turning quickly I placed my fist just above his throat.

“I win.” I grinned down at him. He looked up to me once his head cleared and examined my triumphant expression.

“That you have.” He finally admitted. I nodded and stood. I offered him my good hand and he took it. After hauling him up to his feet I turned to my dislocated fingers and held them tenderly against my rib cage. I cursed softly to myself when I noticed just how badly swollen my hand already was.

“So I did injure you.” I nodded and forced a pained smile. Now that the adrenaline of the fight had subsided the pain came at me in full blasts.

“Yeah, I was lucky to only get away with a busted hand. You are a very strong opponent. I'd probably loose if I fought you again.”

Clapping suddenly emerged from the audience. For the first time since our match started I searched the crowd for Tala's blazing red hair. Strong arms suddenly enveloped me from behind. I instantly assumed it was Tala. He was the only one daring enough to touch me so fondly. I leaned lightly back against his chest and closed my eyes.

“Good job sister.” A female voice came from Tala's mouth. I instantly jumped away from them and turned to stare open mouthed at the person. It was Alli. Damn, how did she trick me so easily? I could have sworn she was Tala!

I glared at her them. She was no longer the sweet little sister I loved, but I blood sucking devil. The clapping from the audience ceased and a sheen of silence sat over the stadium. A soft pad of feet touched my ears making me turn slightly to the sound. Alli stepped back as Tala came closer.

“Renee,” Thank god, it was Tala. I turned completely then, not worrying about Alli and flat out walked into his chest. A cold wave flew over me but quickly dissipated as his arm enveloped my body. I wasn't sure exactly why I had turned to him so eagerly. Had I not just told him I was going to show him how strong I was a few hours ago? I shook my head. Alli was the only thing I wanted to get away from and she seemed to fear Tala. Instant conclusion, Tala is a vampire repellant and should be kept as close as possible.

“Are you badly injured?” His voice was calm but concerned. I felt like waving my hand in his face but it was pinned between us so I settled for shaking my head. It was nothing I couldn't handle.
