Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ The Price of the Past ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
AN: This is my first BB fic, but not my first fic (I've got a WK fic going right now, as well). I've had the idea for this for a pretty long time now, but I've been in a serious Weiss phase (still am, too). However, the muse wouldn't let up, so here it is. My Weiss fic will take priority, but I will be updating this almost as often as the other (roughly weekly). So here's a little background… This fic takes place during the 1st season, the starting point being when the BBs go to look for Kai at the Abbey and becomes an AU from there. I'm using the Japanese name for Tyson only because I don't like the name Tyson. I'm also going to be aging them all by a few years” Kai 18, Rei 17, Tala 17, Bryan 19, Max 16, Takao 15, Ian 15, Spencer 18, Kenny 15, Lee 18, Kevin 16; Other teams are in this age range, and if it becomes important, I'll give specifics. I also don't generally do clothes descriptions, so we'll say they all look like their GRev versions. I am a huge yaoi fan, so that's what you'll find here. I generally like het. pairs included because I don't think it's realistic for everyone to be gay, but as I hate all the female Beyblade characters and OC pairings, any and all pairings will be yaoi. This story will have dark themes in addition to the happy times, so you should expect anything from happy, fluffy moments to rape and torture. I think that's everything, so on with the story.
Warnings: Shounen ai/yaoi with LEMONS (later chapters), Language, Violence
Archive: FFnet, AFF; otherwise, ask for permission
Disclaimer: Beyblade is not mine, and I make no profit from this as it is purely for entertainment. I do own any OCs that will appear later on.
Internal Dialogue
Prologue
A raven-haired teen watched on as things began to spin out of control. The Bladebreakers, minus their missing captain, had gone back to the Balcov Abbey in search of Kai; it seemed they had come to the right place as they were informed that the teen was in fact in the complex, recovering from hypothermia after having fallen into the icy river. Things went steadily downhill after they received this information; they could all tell something was amiss with the situation, and as a consequence, Takao had recklessly challenged the short, indigo-haired member of BioVolt to an impromptu match. Kai's right, the neko-jin thought with a sigh. He really is a moron. The Dragoon master was having more than a difficult time with his opponent; one might go as far to say that he was having his ass handed to him on a platter. This definitely did not bode well for the Bladebreakers; they would have to face these guys during the tournament.
Rei, for a reason unknown even to himself, suddenly looked away from the match and turned to regard the other member of the BioVolt team. Eyes of pure gold were caught in the frozen blue gaze of the red head. Time seemed to stand still for the two teens as a sudden sense of recognition settled over them both; as if in complete sync with one another, they were simultaneously hit with a previously forgotten piece of the past.
[Flashback - Twelve Years]
“You're it!” a small child with fiery red hair exclaimed after catching a five year old Rei. The little neko-jin pouted at having been caught so early on in their game of tag.
“No fair, Tala,” he whined. “You didn't give me enough time.” A sudden crash echoing through the mountainous area effectively broke off their budding argument. The noise startled the boys, causing them to turn their attention towards the direction from which it came. Unable to see anything out of the ordinary and being curious by nature, they quickly decided to explore. Walking further into the woods towards the origin of the noise, the boys began to recognize the area.
“I think it came from the house,” the golden-eyed child said. “I hope mama isn't hurt.” His voice was filled with a worry that was uncharacteristic for one so young. Tala's blue eyes reflected the same concern as the two unconsciously began to quicken their pace, eventually sprinting as fast as their small legs could carry them. As they reached a large clearing, a small house came into view along with what would be a frightening sight to any child. A female neko-jin, crimson hair cascading down her back and tears streaming from amber eyes, was surrounded by several menacing men dressed in what appeared to be a uniform of some sort.
“Mama!” two high-pitched voices yelled in unison. The voices caught the attention of the men who turned to face the newcomers.
“Ah, here they are now,” A man with violet hair stepped out from the shade of a tree. “Leave the woman; we're only here for the twins.” Following their leader's orders, the men approached the frightened children.
“Tala, Rei, run! Don't let them get you!” their mother screamed. This seemed to snap the twins out of their fright, and they began running, though they didn't run away as they were told. As so many young children do when they're afraid of something, they went to their mother. Before she could tell them to do otherwise, a shot rang out, freezing the boys in their tracks. The man with purple hair had killed their mother before their very eyes. Blood pooled around her bodied as they stared on in complete shock. The sound of footsteps drawing near snapped Rei out of his horror, and he grabbed Tala's wrist, trying to drag him away from the men closing in.
“We have to run!” the panicked boy's voice was shaking and tears were falling in a steady stream.
“We can't leave her,” the red-haired boy was nearly hysterical. Unable to leave his brother, Rei continued pulling at him until he was finally ably to convince Tala to run. Unfortunately, this had cost them too much time. Even with their neko-jin speed, their legs were too short to outrun the men giving chase. As they approached one of their favorite hiding places, a cave with such a narrow opening that even a small teen could not fit into it, the pursuers caught up and grabbed for Tala, who was slightly behind his raven haired brother. Feeling the large hand grasp his shoulder, he instinctively pushed Rei through the small gap.
“Tala!” the golden eyed boy cried out from the mouth of the cave.
“Don't come out of there,” Tala warned his twin even as he struggled in vain with his captor. “You have to find help!”
[End Flashback]
The shared return of memory was abruptly halted as an anguished cry from Takao ripped into the night; he had lost the battle, Dragoon having received heavy damage during its course. The loss, or victory, depending on the point of view, however, was the least of the concerns of two shell-shocked teens. I… I have a brother… The thought was shared between both Tala and Rei as they exchange one final glance before the Bladebreakers were forced from the grounds.
