"What are those?" Darryl exclaimed before he met eyes with one of them. When the two locked eyes, Darryl seemed to be trapped in an everlasting gaze. The creature's beady yellow eyes seemed to pierce the very depths of his soul, and froze it from the inside. Darryl shook with fear, because for the first time in his life, he felt that his life might be taken. Every bone in his body screamed for him to run, and yet his limbs felt as though they were encased in a layer of ice. The creature then broke its gaze, and lunged at Darryl.

"Move, dumbass!" Eriko shouted.

"Watch out!" Thomas shouted to his friend.

"Get out of the way!" Mare exclaimed, fearing for his new friend's life. The creature was so close at this point that even if Darryl wanted to run, even if he could run, the creature would still catch him. He could feel the cold essence of the creature upon him. Death seemed certain for Darryl...until something happened. All Darryl saw was a figure with black clothing and a seven-foot sword, blade a deep onyx color, slay the creature with a mighty blow to the face. It appeared from nowhere, and when it stood in one spot, a layer of light brown hair could be seen.

"Thanks for the save." Darryl happily stated to his protector. In reaction to this, he turned around with an expression of surprise.

"You...you can see me?" The strange man questioned, putting his sword back into its sheath. "They must be the group of spirit pressure I sensed...well one of them...there's still all the hollows. I took care of one but there's a bunch more...and then they're are three more powers approaching..." The man thought to himself.

"Yeah, all of us can." Thomas added on.

"Well my name is Nick Wallace...and I'm a shinigami. We can finish the introductions later." Nick stated. The group of four introduced themselves to Nick.

"Duck!" Eriko exclaimed. Nick quickly ducked and pulled out his sword again. He then quickly pierced the left eye of the creature, which attempted to charge it, causing it to roar in misery. As blood trickled down Nick's blade, he quickly slashed upwards. This caused the creatures head to be completely split in two and it to fade away.

"Those are hollows...they hunt people with high spirit energy such as yourself." Nick explained while rotating his huge sword in a full circle. This slashed any hollows within the facility. A hollow had managed to slip past Nick, and was going for the group of unaccomplished warriors. Suddenly, a purple arrow was seen flying past Mare and Thomas, piercing the hollow in the skull. It faded away, and everyone looked up in the direction of the arrow. When they looked up, they were gazing at a girl. She had two bangs hanging on the sides of her face, with six more on her forehead, which stopped just above her eyebrows. Her eyes were a nice and dark shade of amber, which were clearly fixated on the scene. A small breeze blew through the air, causing her ankle length ponytail to blow in the wind. The most defining feature of her, however, was the way she was dressed. Nothing appeared to be covering her chest but a few well-placed bandages.

"Slut..." Eriko muttered under her breath. She also wore what appeared to be a typical priestess bottom, gray in appearance. It was opened slightly on the sides of her lower legs.

"She looks good. Its time for me to take my prize." Thomas stated as he attempted to approach her. A hollow appeared in front of him however. Another arrow was shot to protect him, but this one was different. It was a dark blue in appearance. From the opposite side of the girl stood a young man. His crimson red hair, which was neatly tucked down, blew softly. Multiple bangs hung over his face, specifically over his nose as well as his emerald colored eyes. He also wore a tan shirt with matching pants. Underneath the boy's shirt, was a black undershirt. Both the boy and the girl's bows appeared to be made of pure energy, rather than the typical solid bow.

"What took you so long Jave?" The girl questioned as she let her bow fade away, revealing a small metallic cross shaped pendent on her wrist.

"Yeah ok! You know you tripped me while we were racing here! Atsui, you're a cheater!" Jave exclaimed, releasing his bow as well to reveal the same pendent that Atsui wore. She giggled softly before saying sorry. The two then began to walk down to the rest of the group and introduced them as Quincy. Nick showed knowledge of them, and informed the group that they are able to turn surrounding spirit energy into their weapons.

Fear was suddenly struck into all seven of the teen's eyes as a huge level of spirit pressure began to emit from the sky. They looked up to see a huge hollow being created from the sky. It immediately landed and opened its mouth. The level of spirit pressure the teens could feel skyrocketed to the point where they were shaking. A red energy orb appeared in the hollow's mouth. "No! It's going to release a cero blast here? Everyone, get out of the way!" Nick exclaimed, sensing the impending doom. The seven split up into two groups, Darryl, Mare and Thomas going one way, with everyone else going the other. As the cero blast was released, it appeared to be going directly for the three unguarded teens. They were hit with it, and their souls were separated from their bodies.

"What the hell is going on?" Thomas questioned as he tugged on the chain, which was now in his chest. Suddenly, the chains began to eat themselves. "

Ah!" Mare exclaimed as he began to attempt to rip the chain connected to his chest off. It was to no avail though.

"What? The chain of fate.... already? It takes way longer for the chain to do that, and it shouldn't be...you guys might turn into hollows!" Nick exclaimed. However his eyes opened wide, as he began to unconsciously see spirit ribbons. Thomas, Mare, and Darryl's spirit ribbons were each slowly turning into a shade of red, like his own. "...Shinigami...?" Nick muttered in bewilderment.

Darryl felt himself distant from the world. In fact, he was in a place he had never seen. He looked around, and his entire surroundings were pure white it was as though he were standing inside a void. "Greetings, lord Darryl." A voice spoke. It was soft and soothing, and made Darryl feel at peace. It was at this point that Darryl turned to see a figure. It had six angel wings, which released a constant stream of feathers. One floated by Darryl and he caught it between his index and middle finger. The being was about as slim as Darryl, who had begun to examine his strange admirer more closely. The figure, which appeared to be male, had pale white skin with shoulder length blonde hair. His eyes were a vibrant shade of sapphire. For clothing, he seemed to wear a long white robe. "My name is not important at the moment. You are slowly fading away, but my power can save you. This is my gift to you, Darryl-sama. My eternal power will always be yours to wield. Draw the sword from the ground, and use my power to save you." The angelic form said to Darryl. Darryl said nothing, but walked over to grip the handle of the sword, which was incased in a layer of earth. He lifted it up and instantly, the world around him faded.

Slowly he was transported back to his own reality, the world he was familiar with seemingly being rebuilt out of broken shards. When this process was over, hollows surrounded him once more. He looked at his body, which lay on the floor. He then glanced down at himself, getting a shock. The chain he was previously tugging at was no longer there. In fact, the same raven colored kimono that Nick wore replaced his entire clothing. And on his left side was a katana. Darryl had finally grasped the situation. The fact that he was now a shinigami. After this fact settled into his brain, he quickly looked at his friends whom were also separated from their bodies. To his dismay, they were on their knees as the mask of hollows began to form around their face. And then suddenly, the processes came to a halt. Their faces were covered with the mask of hollows, but their bodies were dressed in the same clothing as a shinigami. They both ripped their masks off and grinned. Thomas had a katana on his left side as well, except the hilt was an onyx black color. Mare carried an oversized sword on his back like Nick, except the hilt was golden and the handle was crimson. There were now four shinigamis.
