AN: Alright, here goes another one. To wrap this all up, this moral focuses on Hiyori and Yuzu. I thought it was a stretch of the lesson, but it never hurts to have a little side-story going. Besides, it's only a one-shot anyway. Or is it?

Lessons to Learn
Moral:
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

Hiyori's bottom lip puckered out in frustration as she stomped down the street. Shinji sent her to Ichigo Kurosaki's house to retrieve him for their training session that day, and she wasn't too happy to do it. She argued, "why can't the stupid dope come to us? He needs our help!" But Shinji wouldn't hear of it, and almost shoved her out of the door.

Now, as she rounded the corner and Ichigo's house came into view, she started to grumble under her breath. Climbing the front steps, her grumbling grew louder, and even louder as she impatiently rapped on the door. She waited for only a few seconds until she drew in a deep breath of yell out her trainee's name. That was until the door opened. The sight she saw took that deep breath away.

A girl who looked about her age swung the door open and peered outside. Hiyori could only stare at her; she didn't know what to say. She gathered that this girl was one of Ichigo's younger sisters, but noticed the two didn't really resemble each other. The Breath-Stealer had shoulder length brown hair with beautiful, dark eyes to match. She wore a yellow sun dress that came down to her knees, and a welcoming smile that froze Hiyori to her spot. "Yes?" the Angel said.

"Uh... is Ichigo here?"

The Angel shook her head. "He went to the store for some flour and sugar. He should be back any minute."

Hiyori scratched her head. "Well... I guess I'll just wait for him. Don't mind me." She scanned the ground for a suitable place to sit and decided the front steps were good enough. She sat down, her back to the Angel, hoping to escape her mesmerizing gaze.

"You know, you don't have to wait outside. You can come inside if you want to."

Did she want to? Hiyori never wanted to do anything more in her life than to come in with the Angel. Without a second thought, she stood up and followed her inside.

"How about some cookies and milk? The cookies are straight from the oven."

The blond vizard nodded and watched her snack being prepared. "So... you are Ichigo's sister?"

"Yep, I'm the youngest," the melodious voice of her Angel answered, placing several cookies on a plate. "Would you like chocolate milk?" Hiyori nodded yes, and once her deity returned with the request, she already had consumed three cookies.

The Angel smiled at her, happy to know her guest was enjoying the result of her efforts. She patiently waited for Hiyori to finish, then asked, "so, what are you going to do with Ichigo?"

"Um... we're just going to hang out, that's all."

"Oh. Okay."

An awkward silence came over them as neither one said anything. Hiyori did have something to say, but was afraid to voice it. She wanted to tell the Breath-Stealer how she captivated her; fascination was really what it was. But how would that sound? She didn't even know her name...

"Thanks for the cookies. I appreciate your kindness," she said instead.

"No problem," the Angel nodded. The sound of a door opening and closing stopped the reply and turned her attention to her older brother entering the kitchen. "Hey Ichigo!"

"Hey Yuzu," he said, setting a clear plastic bag on the counter and sliding it toward his sister. "Here's what you wanted."

"Thank you!"

He nodded, turned, and exited the room. Then as quickly as he left, he was back. "Hiyori, what are you doing here?"

She almost didn't hear him. Since he uttered her Angel's name, she couldn't stop repeating it in her mind.

'Yuzu... Yuzu... my beautiful Yuzu...'

"We need to go... so move it," the young vizard instructed, a half-hearted snarl crossing her face.

"Fine. Let's go."

She was surprised at his easy acquiescence, but not as surprised as she was about her hesitance to leave. She couldn't deny that she wanted to stay with Yuzu; it bothered her that she couldn't. Maybe a lingering hug would hold her over until next time...

"Bye Ichigo! Bye Ichigo's friend!" Yuzu waved as the pair exited the house. Hiyori's heart jumped at her mentioning, though not by name. But it didn't matter; soon enough Yuzu would know her name well. She planned on coming to see her Love for no reason at all, only to gaze into her beautiful face. She was pretty sure her Brown-Haired Beauty wasn't aware of her feelings for her, and she was even more sure her feelings wouldn't be returned. While it saddened her, she was never one to give up. Never.

"Hey, are you coming or not?" Ichigo called to her from down the road. She looked up and saw him staring at her impatiently, arms folded over his chest. "If you want to stay at my house, you can go ahead. But I'm going to go train. Now, are you coming or not?"

"Don't you rush me, you simple idiot!" Hiyori yelled, balling up her fists. "You make me sick!" She took off in a run, following the bright haired shinigami toward their destination. And while she ran, she smiled to herself. She was sure her Angel was watching over her.

AN: Yeah, I didn't like writing this. It seemed too random for me. But it's okay. Sometimes change stimulates the brain!
