Bleach Fan Fiction ❯ Lessons to Learn ❯ Louder Than Words ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
AN: Okay, I know this idea seems random, but it's actually pretty fun to write, though a little challenging. Each moral/message will be illustrated by the wonderful characters from Bleach, which I don't own. My goal is to use almost everybody. This first one is GinFong, a refreshing pairing. Enjoy and review to tell what you think!

Louder Than Words

Message: If words suffice not, actions must follow.

They had been arguing all day, and she was quite tired of it. Everything he said or did got on her nerves, and she just needed to be away from him right now. 'Far away,' she thought, plopping down in her chair behind her big cherrywood desk. 'He better not come in here; my throwing arm feels pretty good right about now.'

The silence in the room lulled her to sleep, soon forgetting Gin's insensitivity toward her situation.

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" she yelled increduously. "I may be in danger of losing my position of Head of Special Forces!"

"I heard what ya said," he looked at her, his constant smile small. "But c'mon Fong, that job got ya tired all the time. And on top of the stuff ya gotta do for ya squad, that's a lotta work."

"I know that Gin," she sighed, taking a long blink. "But that's part of the job that I decided to take. I knew it would be a lot of work. But it's work that I'm willing to do, and I'm okay with that."

He shook his head and chuckled. "Ya should be happy. It ain't fair how hard ya gotta work, and for what? Ya get nothin' outta it other than extra fatigue. Ya get no thanks for this. If I were ya, I'd count my blessins."

"How can you say that?" she said in disbelief, rising from the bench she sat on. Funny how a relaxing walk in one of Soul Society's many parks would turn into a one-side shouting match. "I've been working for that position all my life, and when I finally get it, they just throw me away like I didn't improve that damn department from the sorry state it was in when I got there! And the worst thing about all of this is that you don't care!"

Looking up at her from his still seated position, he shrugged, "I do care."

"You sure act like you don't."

"I do. It's just that ya ain't being rational 'bout this."

"... y'know Gin, I don't need this from you right now," Fong frowned.

Watching her storm away, he called after her, "are ya mad at me?" A flying rock to his forehead gave him her answer.

----------------------------------------------------------
She awoke from her troubled sleep with a jolt, and looking up to see her office door slide shut, she gathered that someone had tried to rouse her but she would not wake. Scanning her desk for her miniature clock, she noticed a tan envelope that wasn't there before she dozed off.

Tearing it open, she read its contents, and stood from her chair in joy. "I won't be replaced!" she gasped to herself. "I'll keep my position!" Her rare smile that she usually saved for Gin plastered itself across her face. Forgetting her anger toward him, she crossed the floor and slid open the door, eager to find him and tell him the good news. But in the doorway, there he stood with a dozen daisies in one hand and a matching bright yellow bear in the other. "Hey," he greeted softly.

Her steel-colored eyes brightened at the sight of him, and with no other words passing between them, they embraced as warmly as lovers could. "Hey."

AN: Okay, I got the first one out of the way. Actually I already 2 more written so I will put up the next tomorrow. Promise. I'm trying to get back in the habit of writing stories out before I type them. It makes editing easier. Anyway, review if you like, and... that's about it!
