Kyoko walked through the halls of the Soul Reaper Academy in a good mood. Today she had been assigned her mentor. All graduating students were assigned a mentor for three months to see if they had what it takes to be assigned into the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. There were exactly thirteen graduating students this year. And with the ceremony tomorrow, all thirteen were given appointments today to meet their mentors. The headmaster had said at the meeting that Kyoko and her classmates were assigned their mentor based on the level of potential they each had. He said that a couple of captains had agreed to this program. That meant there were a couple of really high leveled students! Kyoko was excited to be graduating with such powerful people. She hoped she got a third seat or lieutenant. Kyoko knew she wasn’t good enough for a captain no matter what her professors thought.
Once Kyoko reached the door, she arranged her hair and uniform into some semblance of order and knocked on the shoji.
Walking inside, Kyoko was blown away by who was inside, “Captain Matsumoto?”
