Chapter 3: Jealousy

It was Saturday morning and Sakura was at the park with her friends.

"So you guys find dates to the dance yet?" Chelsee asked.

"Yup, I'm going with Zachary," Nikki replied.

"You have to, Zachary is your boyfriend!" Madison said laughing.

"Yeah, I guess," Nikki replied giggling.

"You know what Nikki?" asked Chelsee, "You've really changed Zachary a lot. He's not as annoying anymore."

"Yeah, I know right," replied Nikki, "It was my love that did it!"

"Hey guys," Sakura said, "Why did we come here instead of going to my house?"

"Because," Zoe replied, "The boys are playing basketball right there!"

"And how'd you know they were gonna be here?" asked Chelsee.

"Hellooooo!! I know EVERYTHING!" said Zoe.

Zoe was the kinda girl who always got her guy. She was the queen of gossip and knew everything about everyone. She always wore tight clothes and weird jewelry. Sakura didn't like her very much, and they never did get along.

Nikki was the shortest of Sakura's friends. She looked really pretty ever since she stopped wearing those huge glasses of hers and got contacts.

Chelsee was tall, and had long hair with a streak of purple at the front. She had 3 pierces in each of her ears, and always kept her hair out.

"Oh guys, guess what!?" Madison asked excitedly.

"What is it?" all the girls asked.

"I'm going with Kouji to the dance! I said yes to him!" said Madison all jumpy.

Sakura rolled her eyes and felt really bored. All her friends ever talked about were guys. She sat down on a bench and started playing with the pieces of wood sticking out at the edges. All the other girls congratulated her.

"Hey Zoe, you've got a date right?" asked Chelsee.

"Not yet I don't," repled Zoe, "I'm still waiting to be asked."

All the girls were surprised.

"I'm waiting for Takuya Kanbara to ask me," Zoe said, as though he were definitely going to ask her.

Sakura's insides jumped. She started feeling weird. She felt jealous and mad. Why did she have these feelings?

"Hey Takuya!" Zoe shouted.

Sakura suddenly got up off the bench she was sitting on. She didn't know what to do. The boys were taking a break from playing basketball. Takuya glanced their way.

"Oh, hey Zoe, hey girls!" Takuya said brightly, walking up to them.

Takuya looked at Sakura and smiled. She returned the smile with a small one. Zoe noticed this and quickly took action.

"Hey Takuya, you know the dance is coming up real soon……and I heard you haven't got anyone to go with," Zoe said.

Well Zoe, I think I do have someone to go with. I'll find out tomorrow I hope" replied Takuya, "Well I gotta go, bye girls!"

All the girls started to giggle and talk again except Sakura. Takuya turned around while walking away and winked at Sakura. She blushed and looked away.

"I know it! He's gonna ask me tomorrow!" shrieked Zoe.

Sakura was feeling weird inside her stomach so she walked home. None of the girls noticed.

Sakura got home and jumped on the couch. She turned on the t.v and started to watch the history channel. She liked to learn about Egypt. Suddenly the phone rang. Sakura picked it up.

"Hello, Sakura speaking"

"Hey Sakura!"

"Oh, hey Kouichi"

"Listen, I was thinking of asking Chelsee to the dance. But…I need help doing it."

"Hmm…let's see, just go up to her and ask her straight out, `Hey Chelsee wanna go to the dance with me?"

"Sakura, I'm feeling weird inside, are you POSITIVE she said she likes me?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Just ask her OK?"

"Alright fine, so what are you doing now?"

"Watching t.v"

"Oh, cool….uhh…can I come over."

"Sure, why not."

"Alright, I'll leave now. See ya!"

"Bye"

Sakura hung up the phone. She really liked it when Kouichi came over because he was always fun to talk with and play video games. He only lived 5 minutes away, so she knew he'd be there soon. She went to the kitchen and got some snacks ready. The door bell rang and she ran to open it.

"Hello there," said Kouichi.

For some reason Sakura was so happy to see him. She hugged him tightly.

"Wow, what happened?" he asked.

"Oh nothing, I was just getting really bored. I'm glad you came!"

"Oh is that it? Hah…well anyway what's up?"

"Stuff"

Sakura and Kouichi sat down on the couch and started munching on some chips.

"So you heard about my brother?" asked Kouichi.

"Yeah, he's going with Madison," said Sakura, "I heard. It's all Madison talks about!"

"Yeah, well, he's pretty happy about it too."

"Hey Kouichi, can I talk to you about something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Well…you know who Takuya Kanbara is right?"

"Yeah, how could I not! He's like the best basketball player on the team, and all the girls are crazy about him. But for some reason he doesn't have a date yet."

"Well, I get this weird feeling when I'm around him. And when some girl is trying to get his attention I get so…mad."

"It's natural, it means you like him."

"Hmm…I thought so."

"Sakura all the girls like him. But they all can't have him. Everyone thinks he's going to ask Zoe sooner or later."

"Oh is that right? Well they'll see what happens."

"What do you mean?"

"Huh, oh forget it. Wanna play the new video game I got?"

"Sure, ok."
