Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ Castle of the Moon ❯ Chapter 6

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Disclaimer: Do I own CCS? Wish I did, but I don't! I would probably be in favor of Syaoran x Yukito and somehow write that in as a canon pairing. *Blush* and it might be Card Captor Syaoran…
Notes: ** for thoughts
This *is* shonen-ai, Yue x Syaoran. Entiendes?
Chapter 6

They reappeared back on the roof of the Tsukimine Shrine, a quick glance at the moon showed that only seconds had passed.
Illusion faded, however, no one was close enough to see…
< I'm sorry. > Yue whispered, as he struck forward with a wave of crystal shards. Syaoran gave a barely perceptible smile, before he tumbled off the roof.
“You have failed.” Yue intoned, before Syaoran was unceremoniously dumped in a heap outside the force field and Sakura was taken in.

“This-this can't be…”
Neither of them had passed? Cerberus shuddered as he stared at Yue. This was not good…
Syaoran shivered as Yue's eyes glanced at him briefly. What… what did this mean? Wasn't he supposed to forget now?
Or…
Sakura looked so scared…. He couldn't blame her, after all, but now…
“Stop!”
Mizuki-sensei? What was she doing here? His memories were scattered, but maybe there was a reason…
And then…. The world just had to break apart again…
Sakura had won. Yue was now her guardian. He really wasn't necessary anymore, was he? But he smiled when she danced around with him, and he feigned exhaustion, and somehow, he made it back to his apartment while Tomoyo dragged Sakura off for victory celebrations…
Everything was over now, wasn't it?
He wasn't necessary anymore…
Sakura had strong magic - untrained, yes, but she would be able to do great things… he sighed. Well, the dream was over, he had woken, and now, there was nothing left to do but move on with life.

Can I go back to Hong Kong?
There was blood on his robes, he noted idly… the front of his shirt was soaking wet… so some of those crystals had hit after all…
It wasn't just an act any more…
It didn't matter. Yue was Sakura's guardian now. He had to protect her. She was the Card Master, and his duty lay to her…
“It was nice while it lasted though,” He murmured, as he stared outside at the full moon… * Yes, it was nice… *

But… but if I'm so unimportant, and I've already accepted my fate, why does it hurt so much?
He climbed into bed and carefully unscrewed a small white bottle on the stand. He hadn't needed the pills for months, but now, he suspected, he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight otherwise…
Black overcame his vision as he succumbed…

“What an idiot,” Cerberus shook his head. “So he used Return - doesn't he know it's a moon based card?”
Yue did not answer. He was still in a state of shock. Clow had engineered this entire Test… what was the purpose of the Final Judgment then?
And now, that little girl was his new Master, whether he liked it or no…. it rankled in his chest as he sighed and took off. Perhaps a flight would clear his mind…

A sudden odd pressure made itself known in his chest. Yue frowned. What was happening? He certainly wasn't injured, and his magic levels were high enough to sustain him for two months at least…
Something else was occurring…
< Syaoran! >
There was no reply. Children could be dangerously emotional, and Yue silently thanked Clow that he'd never been that sort of a child, however…
< Syaoran! >
There was still no answer… something was blocking their connection. Syaoran didn't have the magic skill to weave the shields himself, so either someone had done it for him, or he was in danger…
Yue focused, found the green aura, and shot towards it. After climbing in through the open bedroom window, he found the boy asleep. He looked fine, however…
Something still seemed off…
He carefully slid the blankets off and stared in disbelief. So much blood, bright red against the sheets, and it was still flowing…
What… what have you done…?
He placed his hands over the wounds, pale white against red, focused his moon magic - the moon could heal while the sun could not, though it was never told, and willed the bleeding to stop….
Slowly, the blood stopped flowing, the flesh closing up over wounds… wounds that had been made with the sharpest points of jagged crystals.
He hadn't meant to hurt Syaoran! It had all been an act, hadn't it? Yet here was the evidence, tangible as anything…
< I… never meant to injure you… Syaoran… >

The boy stirred fitfully in his sleep, but did not wake. Finally, finally, the last of the injuries had closed over. And he felt tired, so tired now, that he did not bother to leave, and fell asleep holding Syaoran.
I'm sorry….

Syaoran woke sometime in the middle of the next day - lucky that it was a weekend, or else he would have missed school. He blinked.
Why was Yue in bed with him?
Was this just a dream? He wasn't sure…. But if it were, he might as well enjoy it… a slightly mischievous smile made its way onto his face…
He really is pretty enough to be a girl…

So soft, Syaoran thought absentmindedly, as he dared to kiss…. It was always Yue, whom had initiated their contact before, and he didn't mind, but it was nice to….
Amethyst glittering with silver slowly opened and met amber.
Syaoran blushed faintly, but did not break his kiss until he needed air. It felt so good… almost the same feeling as when they had been in the past…
He… he didn't want to give it up.
“Syaoran.” Yue whispered softly, the barest hint of breath. The whisper was barely heard, yet it resounded within the Chinese boy's soul as he drowned in violet.
“Yes…?” He was rapidly losing his ability for coherent speech and cognitive thinking under the heated stare the guardian had pinned upon him…
“You foolish, foolish child!” Yue chided. “Were you planning for death?”
“… What?” His eyes went wide. That was certainly not what he had expected. Yue shook his head as he pulled up the blankets.
Mottled brown covered the sheets. Similar hues streaked the front of Yue's robe and tunic. The moon guardian shook his head.
“What happened last night?”
Oh, that was cruel, he didn't wish to speak of the events, but he had to… so he swallowed and began. “Well, after Sakura won, I came home…”
Yue listened as he expounded. “So you… ignored your wounds and put yourself to sleep?” Of all the foolhardy things to do…
Syaoran blushed, not daring to meet his eyes. “Hai.”
“Syaoran, did you really think that I forgot you as soon as Sakura became the Card Mistress?” He asked gently.
A small nod was his only answer.
“Why?”
“I… I cannot return home after this failure.” He whispered. * I have no family now, and you… you will follow Sakura. Your duty lies to her, not to me… *

Yue did not reply for several long moments. “I would not have you die, Clow's descendant.”
Syaoran's lips curved up in a bitter smile. * I knew it. We are back to formality now… *
“Nothing ever happened between us, Yue-san. I apologize for causing your unnecessary worry.” He said formally as he stood.
Yue closed his eyes as he broke their embrace. “I understand perfectly, Clow's descendant. I shall take my leave now.”
It was not until Yue had left that he allowed himself to cry…
