Author Notes: Oh, well, I see you've come to read my next chapter. I'm so thankful!! Anyway, Since I don't get much time on the comp, I write out every single story I have to complete at school, during lunch, since I don't eat lunch anyway. The way my new school runs is just way too confusing for me to even try. Anyway, here's the third and last chapter of this ficcie. I hope you enjoy and review.
Chapter 3 Revealing Our Destinies
"I've missed you so much Eriol-kun," Tomoyo said as tears began to fill her eyes. "It's been so lonely without you."
Eriol stiffened. He didn't know what to do and he was certain that Sakura or Syaoran had already told her what he dreaded most. "Yes Daidouji-san, it has been a long time."
From behind, Nathan smiled proudly at himself. Oh yea...who's the man now?? I'm the best ever!!
"Nathan, who's that with Eriol?" came a voice from behind him. Quickly turning around, he sighed in relief. "Don't scare me like that Yume! You nearly knocked the life out of me!"
The long black haired female giggled joyously. "I'm sorry Nathan..."
"It's all right. Anyway, Eriol's with his long time childhood friend," Nathan replied with his head held high. "But that's only because of me..."
Yume smiled, walking towards Eriol. "Eriol! I haven't seen you this whole week!"
Both Eriol and Tomoyo's head jerked up immediately. "Yume...?" Eriol whispered as his gaze slowly turned towards her.
After reaching him, Yume pulled Eriol towards her and kissed him gently on the cheek. "I missed you so much!"
Feeling rather unwanted, Tomoyo smiled faintly and stood up to leave. "Gomenasai Eriol-kun. I think I'll go now."
Eriol's eyes saddened as he glanced up to see Tomoyo's eyes full of pain. Tomoyo-chan, I should be the one to say sorry...because of me, you've been through such harsh times... "I understand. I'll see you later then Daidouji-san."
Tomoyo nodded with a beaming smile on her face. "I hope so..." Without another word, Tomoyo turned and walked quickly away.
As she disappeared into the distance, Eriol finally stood up and walked towards his curiously staring team of players.
"Coach, are you okay?" Ryosuke asked worriedly, being the only one who had the courage to ask.
Eriol nodded with a faint smile. "Of course...shall we begin practice now?"
With a frown, Nathan walked up to Yume. "Man, why'd you have to go and break their reunion? It was so..."
"I didn't mean to do anything!" Yume replied quickly, cutting him off short.
Nathan sighed deeply. "Yeah...right..." He walked towards Eriol and the busily running boys quietly. "Hey Eriol...I'm sorry about the whole Yume thing. I'm sure you and Tomoyo wanted more time together, but..."
"What were you trying to accomplish by bringing her here?" Eriol asked agitatedly, cutting him off.
Nathan raised an inquiring brow. "What do you mean? You two are friends...aren't you?"
"We WERE friends," Eriol corrected with a frown.
Nathan frowned also. "I get it. She wasn't just a friend. She was your first and final love wasn't she? But the problem was that she hadn't seen your love for her and fell in love with some other guy right?"
"What would you know?" Eriol replied as his eyes began to water. "You have no idea what that feels like."
With a sigh, Nathan nodded. "I agree with you on that, but that doesn't mean I can't understand how you're feeling. Besides, you're still in love with her aren't you?"
Eriol gritted his teeth tightly. The tears threatened to flow more and more as the seconds passed.
"Just tell her," Nathan whispered after another sigh.
Eriol turned away. "I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because, she already has someone else."
"Who?"
"Asaki Takeru."
"He's dead..."
"What...?"
"Earlier today, Tomoyo had told me that after you left Japan, Takeru told her not to marry him. He also told her that she had to be 100% sure she wanted to marry him if she did. And if not, he didn't want to marry her," Nathan explained.
Eriol frowned. "That doesn't tell me anything about a death..."
"He was in the way of a gunfire...died instantly. The blow was to his heart...exactly. It was about 3 months ago," Nathan replied. "Tomoyo said that's why she didn't come earlier."
Eriol's eyes widened in surprise and sadness. Slowly, the tears slid down his paled color cheeks. Throwing down his clipboard, Eriol quickly ran off. Tomoyo-chan, I didn't know. I'm so sorry....I'm sorry for everything....
He ran continuously for 30 straight minutes, not knowing where to look or where to go. He didn't want her to be alone at that moment. He wanted to talk to her. His tears flowed quicker and more as he ran into the park hoping to find her there at last.
"Tomoyo-chan! Tomoyo!"
Far across the pond, Tomoyo quickly glanced up to see who was calling her name.
"Tomoyo-chan! Please! Answer me!" Eriol shouted running down yet another path, which was closer to Tomoyo than the first five.
Tomoyo sighed and looked back down towards the water, alone. Gomenasai Eriol-kun. If only I knew you wanted to start your life over. If you had told me earlier, I wouldn't have bothered coming...especially if I'd only make it worse...
She smiled faintly as she caught sight of a geese coupling. They swam to a stop in front of her. They were side by side, just like a real human couple would've been like.
Eriol stopped in his tracks as he finally spotted Tomoyo. Her back was facing him, so he decided to go up to her quietly. After reaching her, Eriol took in a deep breath and wiped his tears away. "Tomoyo-chan..." Eriol whispered quietly.
Tomoyo turned around instantly, in surprise. "Eriol-kun...?"
"Hai..." Eriol replied with a smile. "Listen Tomoyo-chan...I know I've been a fool for the past few years...including the years we were separated. So, I wanted to apologize...and I have a few confessions to make..."
Tomoyo turned completely around and stood up. "I have things to tell you too, but I wasn't sure if you wanted to know..."
"I'm really sorry about wasting so much of your years worrying about me. I'm sorry about yelling at you before I left. I'm sorry for leaving without even attending your wedding...and lastly, I'm sorry I ruined your relationship with Takeru," Eriol said as the tears began to slip once more.
Tomoyo smiled faintly. "Don't worry about it Eriol-kun. It's all right."
"You wanted to know what was bothering me...and so, I wanted to tell you because it's been bugging me for the past two years too," Eriol continued.
Tomoyo raised an inquiring brow. "Nani?"
"Tomoyo-chan..."
Silence.
"I...I..."
Silence.
"Tomoy o-chan, I'm still in love with you..."
Tomoyo's eyes widened.
"I know it won't do much now, since you've already lost your one true love, but I needed to get that out. And I wanted you to know that even though Takeru isn't here anymore, there is still someone who cares deeply for you Tomoyo-chan, always," Eriol finished. "If there's anything I can ever do for you, just ask me. Because as far as I'm concerned, we're still friends...aren't we?"
Tomoyo's eyes began to water as she threw her arms around Eriol. "Eriol-kun! Arigato...for everything. You've done more than ever. I can never repay you for what you've done for me in the past." She pulled away from him and turned away. "Ever since the wedding, I wasn't sure of what I felt anymore. I didn't know who to love. But then four months ago, I suddenly felt sure of everything I was searching for. I don't know how, but I was sure of it. Then Takeru died. That once more threw my feelings into a huge confusion. It took me three months to realize this, but..."
She stopped mid sentence and turned towards Eriol once more. "I finally found out for sure who my destiny pointed to. Or at least I'm quite sure it's for sure..." She smiled and placed her hand upon Eriol's face. "That person, is you Eriol-kun..."
Eriol's face paled in surprise. He was speechless, completely speechless. He wasn't even able to move.
"Eriol-kun, I love you," Tomoyo whispered as she leaned her head against his.
He merely smiled and wrapped her tightly in his arms. "And I to you as well Tomoyo-chan. And I to you, always and forever..."
~*~*~*~*~*3 Days Later~*~*~*~*~*
Eriol pouted as Tomoyo taunted him and his old school days of being chased by the females. "Tomoyo-chan, there's no need to discuss such unnecessary topics. And I don't like to be chased and followed and recorded and..."
"All right! I understand," Tomoyo said cutting him off. "You don't have to over explain."
Nathan smiled happily. "Destiny has a funny way of showing itself don't you think?"
Tomoyo and Eriol turned towards him in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Well, sometimes, it'll only show itself if you go through hardships..." Nathan said looking at the palms of his hands. "I really don't know what made me say that anyway...I just felt like saying it."
Eriol smiled. "Well, you are right though. Destiny does play tricks on you."
They walked to the corner of the street and stopped as the DON'T WALK sign lighted up. "Sometimes, I just can't take the things it puts me through. I don't know about you Nathan, but destiny sure was harsh to me," Eriol continued as the WALK sign flashed.
Nathan smiled. "But it was worth the hardships wasn't it?"
"Of course..." Eriol answered before he was cut off by the honking of a speeding truck. "TOMOYO-CHAN!" He grabbed her instantly and threw her away, as well as Nathan.
The next few seconds felt like a dream to Tomoyo. In that few seconds, the speeding truck ran right through the one person she thought she was destined to be with. The truck rolled to a stop a few feet from the accident.
Blood was splattered all over the head of the truck as well as the windshield. Nathan covered Tomoyo's eyes from the sight as police officers quickly came into scene. His entire body had been crushed and torn. His left arm lay bloody a foot away from Tomoyo and Nathan. The tears just wouldn't stop. Her destiny had once more been shattered.
Well, it seems destiny is something no one can control. And
when you least expect it, something will hit you so hard, you'll
never forget it, just like Tomoyo and Eriol. They say destiny
brought them together, but it was destiny that tore them apart in
the end. It seems they weren't meant to be. And never will be.
The End
Dedicated to All of the Victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack and to Kit Spooner, Tin, Suppi-chan, Kurikurei. I thank everyone for all of the support as well.
Thank goodness! I'm finally done!! I did it!! I hope you liked it!! This is probably the longest time I've taken on a story. Weeks and weeks of harsh and major thinking, I've finally completed it. I'm really sorry if it didn't turn out the way you planned it to either. I wanted it to be surprising or unexpected from anyone.
Destiny is something unpredictable. No one knows can know what their destiny is for sure and when you think you do, it all falls apart. Thanks for reading and I hoped you enjoyed it.
