Finding Angels

Chapter 01: Meeting You

"I had nearly forgotten how bright the sun can be..."

The ethereal being by the lake was watching the sun set and spread fiery colors into the sky. It was as if he was the angel of beauty himself as he bathed in the sunlight like that. His long silvery hair blown back by the wind, beautiful violet eyes, his stance and choice of clothes made him look like a noble, strong and confident rather than look fragile like a damsel. Yes he was perfect in every sense.

He unfurled his wings for a good stretch then folding them back again until they were gone completely. Not knowing what else to do he sat on a rock and contemplated on his last memories of his master, dead master to be precise.

A few seconds later he heard a rustle coming from the bushes behind him, the greenery which was concealing the lake from the view of the many people in the vicinity. The seemingly perfect being, Yue, made no sign of alarm but appeared annoyed by it. Rather than taking action immediately he remained still, hoping that maybe by some bizarre chance the humans would simply leave if they had not seen anyone.

"Touya 'nii-chan, Sakura knows kitty ran towards this direction and hid somewhere. Please believe Sakura!" a girl, probably not even old enough to start schooling, squeaked indignantly, sounding very much like a mouse, to Yue's amusement.

"I know, I know. I believe you. I just can't believe how a kaijuu like you could've lost that cat. You were supposed to protect it not scare it!" A slightly older male voice said, mock teasing the other.

That's when all hell broke loose.

The girl began crying nonstop and the boy couldn't do anything. Yue's mood changed quickly from amused to being frustrated. He stood up, leaving his seat to see on how to make the girl pipe down. He was surprised to see that it wasn't merely the teasing that was causing the girl to cry. The boy with her apparently had injured his right knee, probably because of the rift to the duo's right.

"It's alright, Sakura. See? I'm fine? There's no blood anywhere. If you don't stop crying you're gonna look more like a kaijuu."

Yue winced, ' Well that didn't help any'. He approached the two with utmost grace, not making a sound, and stopped right behind the girl. He crouched down and touched the lass' nape, making her fall asleep instantly.

The boy, Touya, as Yue remembered the girl call the boy earlier, didn't look the least bit surprised. Touya smiled up at the towering figure and said "You've been here a while mister. Are you lonely...?"

Yue didn't answer but simply went to work on healing the apparent sprain on the boy's leg.

"I'm sorry" Touya said quietly. "I'm sorry if my sister did anything to slight you, sir, but please return her cat. It was a present from our mother to her. She just turned three years old you see and she might not receive anything else after that last one." At this, the silver-haired being still remained silent. "Please, return it."

"What if I'd already eaten the kit?"

"Eh?"

"Nothing. I'm sorry but I don't have it, boy."

"Oh. I thought you might have. You've been here quite a while and if she said she wandered to here she might have done something to annoy you. So I just..." Touya said trying to explain

"How come you know how long I've been here?" Yue asked not really surprised but in need to hear the justification all the same from the toddler.

"I just do, sir. I really don't know why ... I'm sorry for accusing you, sir"

Yue stood up and looked far off, catching a glimpse of the last rays of light. "Let's go, bring your sister as well."

"To where, sir?" This time Touya looked perplexed at the tall man.

"We'll look for your sister's precious."

Touya blinked, the statement taking long to register in his mind. When he finally came to his senses ha said, "Thank you!" and stood up, knowing that, now, he was perfectly fine. He carried his sister for a few minutes before being hoisted up into a tight hold. Wings then appeared as if out of nowhere and spreading covering a vast distance.

They soared into the sky as Sakura slept and leaned into the warmth she felt.

"How will we find it sir?" Touya said out of the blue

"It has a certain bond with your sister am I correct?"

"Yes sir"

"Well then we'll find that bond and it'll lead us to her precious thing" Yue explained, wondering if the boy had actually understood the concept of scrying magic. His lips quirked up at the thought of the little one actually going to the extent of literally finding the bond and then Yue grimaced. He wasn't supposed to be doing this and he might get stuck in the middle of a ruckus after all his trouble. 'No matter, I will have to finish what I have begun.' Upon reaching a height where they could see almost all of the possible areas a little girl could go to that day, they stopped. Yue set the boy down on an invisible but firm ground and held the girl in the air. A symbol, Yue's symbol the moon, overlapped by a gigantic map of the terrain appeared on the area below them. It glowed and so did Sakura, the light coming from both joined forming a thin line, directing them to the welcoming arch of the temple near the animal effigy.

"It's not by the forest you're lucky. It's just by that guardian statue over there." Yue said flatly. He waved his hand to the effect of ordering a spirit to guard the animal not to leave.

Touya scrutinized the place and then let it disappear from his sight, deciding that the cat would stay there. He was hoisted up once more and sooner than he wanted it to end they were back on the ground just at the start of the forest way, near enough that he and Sakura not get lost, far enough not to be seen. "I hope that you won't have any troubles again young boy." Yue said bidding the other farewell "It's getting late, go home."

"Thank you very much sir." Touya bowed as much as he could even with Sakura in his arms and smiled up at the man. "If I come by tomorrow will I see you sir? I want to give you something as a token of my appreciation"

Yue looked at the boy sadly and then nodded his acquiescence. "But I won't be here the day after that - Only for tomorrow."

"I understand sir, I'm sorry to have bothered you so-"

"It's fine, don't make excuses. There's a lake if you follow this trail. I'll be there whenever you wish to come."

Touya nodded accepting the meeting place then trotted back towards the shrine, making sure to be careful not to wake Sakura up.

---

"Eh? Onii-chan really found the kitten?! Arigatou!" Sakura said forgetting the fact that she had ever cried a few hours back. They had reached home safely and without any mishaps and Sakura was only able to wake up when Fujitaka, their father, laid his hand down in search of a fever which was non-existent.

"Yeah, yeah, so go to sleep now kaijuu or else ghosts will come out to haunt you soon." Touya said tauntingly and pointing to a corner where he knew a harmless spirit stayed.

Sakura brightened by the mere thought of ghosts squealed, "Hoeeeee! Oyasuminasai!". She ran as fast as her little feet could carry her and slammed the door forgetting that she even shared the room with her brother.

"Well, Touya, what's going on here?" Fujitaka asked in a sincere manner.

"You see... I want to thank someone, but I don't know what that someone likes so what do you think I should give him papa?" Touya explained already knowing that his father had some knowledge of his unease. He looked down on the ground and avoided eye contact like a plague.

"Well do you know this person well?" Fujitaka asked, ushering his son to a seat beside him, and him kneeling down forcing the other to meet eye to eye, holding on to the boy's shoulders for a good measure.

Touya took his time to choose his words and began playing with the hem of his shirt, embarrassed by the situation. When he realized his father would for him until he spoke, he blurted out the truth, finding no other way to express himself. "Not really..."

Fujitaka looked surprised at first, and then smiled that all-knowing smile of his, not bothering anymore to ask questions and save the boy from discomfiture. "I'm sure that whatever you give that person will be fine, Touya. What were you thinking of?"

"I was thinking maybe some flowers since whenever I give mommy flowers she always smiles. That person has a sad look to him..." Touya said empathically, looking up to his father's eyes and holding on to the stool he sat on for support, letting go of his shirt.

"Well then I'm sure that person will be glad to receive flowers from a good boy such as you, Touya." The father encouraged, smiling and patting his son's head for a good measure.

Touya grinned when he heard this, stood up, hopping off chair. "I'll have to wake up early tomorrow then, so that I'll be able to buy the best flowers available." He hugged his father and kissed him on the cheek. He ran to his and his sister's room waving a good night to his father and said with heartfelt gratitude, "Thank you, papa!"

---

Touya trudged along the woods are of the temple carrying a small bundle of flowers. He used his savings and the pocket money his father had given him for the day to buy them. He felt good having chosen the white flowers in the shop, the lady said that they meant purity, youth, and vitality. It also meant the 'first'. They boy felt it perfect for the 'angel' and felt really happy. Upon reaching the lake, as dictated by the silver haired man, he sat down by the edge, watching the blue horizon.

"You came earlier than I expected."

Touya stood up from his place, already expecting, having felt the other's presence. He picked up the flowers as he went along, and turned to face the guardian. "Good morning, sir."

Yue raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow upon seeing the boy's package. "Primroses?"

"Oh. Umm I thought you'd like them." Touya said disheartened. He then came up to the man and gave the white flowers, bowing as he did so.

The guardian sighed and sat down, staring at the boy coolly for a minute before speaking. "I do. It just doesn't suit me. Your name is Touya, correct?"

The boy nodded, standing straight, he clutched to the bouquet in his hands dearly. "May I ask your name, sir?" When the man didn't answer him right away, he contemplated on the fact that he may have slighted the other. He felt relieved when the other replied.

"I have none." The guardian said smiling grimly, as if remembering something of his past. He opened his palms and held them up to the boy, seeking the proffered flowers. "Call me whatever name you wish, it doesn't matter."

Touya gave the flora, frowning, and his mind full of questions unanswered by the other. He hung his head low seeking words appropriate for the occasion. Upon finding them he spoke. "It would be an insult to you sir, if I should be the one to give you a name." He looked into the taller man's eyes and held his gaze, making his intentions clear as day. "I have no right."

With that said Yue smiled. "You really aren't afraid of me, are you?"

"Should I be?"

"Stubborn boy." Yue reprimanded through the small quirk formed by his lips. He looked at the blossoms he held for a moment and then said to the boy. "I like the flowers, thank you." He pondered on them for a while as spoke under his breath, "Yuki, is a good name."

"Pardon?"

"You were thinking of calling me Yuki, yes?" The man said standing up. He held his hand out to the young boy, which the other obliged in taking. They walked towards the woods area, leaving the clearing with the lake. "You may call me that."

Touya smiled at this and nodded his head in understanding, not bothering anymore how this being came to know of that. They walked through the forest with 'Yuki' leading the way, pointing a thing or two that would probably interest the boy - Touya, being the brilliant boy that he is, indulged in the whole escapade, asking a question or two - both of them enjoying the rest of the morning spent together.

---

Upon arriving home to their apartment, Touya was faced with a woman clothed beautifully in white, running for him, asking worriedly. "Where have you been all this time, Touya?". When she had come home, she found their apartment devoid of any person, with no clue to where everyone went, save for the note pasted on the refrigerator saying 'I have Sakura with me, Touya-kun - Otousan'. She knelt, her skirts pooling around her, embracing the boy dearly, not wanting to let got.

"Mom?" Touya addressed uncertainly, as he took in slowly his mother's scent and the familiar feel of the other's hair brushing his face because of its length. "You're home..."

"Aren't you happy to see, mama?" Nadeshiko asked a bit disappointed but never letting her spirits down though her smile.

"I am! I was just surprised." He replied hurriedly and returned the hug to his beautiful mother, placing her in a tight hold. "You're not going back to that awful place anymore?"

"Yes, I'm never going there again. The doctor said the operation was a success." Nadeshiko released the boy from her hold and looked at him straight in the eye, holding a certain glint meaning trouble coupled with that mischievous smile that only mothers could manage to have. "Let's keep this a secret from your father and surprise him when he comes home."

"He doesn't know yet?" Touya inquired, a bit surprised that the lady in front of him still had that childish streak to her- A bit, but not completely.

Nadeshiko winked at her son and they both laughed. She stood up, and held the boy's hand leading him to her and Fujitaka's room, stopping in front of her bedside table. "I asked a cousin of mine to pick me up and send me home."

Touya nodded in understanding and asked. "Mama, what do you want for lunch? I can cook some dishes now and make the rice." He wondered on where and when they were going to eat, as his stomach was already rumbling from hunger. He loved and respected his mother greatly but cooking just wasn't her thing even after all her tries. If she goes at it a few more times maybe, but then the household would probably not last long.

"Well I was thinking of eating out today. What do you say to that, Touya?" She asked, letting go of the boy's hand, crouching down and began rummaging through her drawer. She hummed a tune, familiar only to her and her family, and smiled.

"I'm okay with anything as long as it's not too expensive."

Nadeshiko looked at her boy and just glowed with pride. Touya questioned his mother by tipping his head to the side but she shook her head saying it was nothing. "Let's go to that temple later, the one near here. Agreed?"

The boy's eyebrows shot up but nevertheless assented to go. He walked closer to his mother and peeked at what she was looking for when she suddenly stood up in triumph. "Here! My wallet!" Nadeshiko said gleefully as she held it with her two hands and placed it close to her heart, closing her eyes.

Touya remained silent as he watched his mother reminisce on the memories that came with that particular satchel of money. When the woman made a gesture for the door out they went to seek food for their lunch.

The mother-son pair walked along the path in the temple, neither of them speaking, neither of them wanting to. Upon reaching the smaller shrine found inside, they stopped for a while and prayed, doing the required rituals, for their own specific wants and wishes. Nadeshiko was the first to finish in her prayers and smiled at the look of concentration Touya had etched on his face. Soon enough he opened his eyes and suggested, "Mom! Let's go for a walk in the forest."

Nadeshiko frowned at the boy asking, "Isn't it off limits?" She didn't like the idea of the other dangers it might entail and the possibility of getting lost there. The head priest owned a large piece of land and saying that was underestimating it.

Touya shook his head furiously. "No, not at all. It's safe to go inside and we won't get lost because there's a path." He replied enthusiastically, tugging at his mother's hands. "I want to show you the lake. It's really pretty, when I saw it I thought of you instantly."

The mother threw her head back, checking the time through the position of the sun and thought for a long time before answering the boy. "I guess it wouldn't hurt but we'll have to get back as soon we arrive. Fujitaka-san's job will finish in a few hours."

Touya nodded and led the way to the lake in the forest, running ahead of his mother and laughing merrily. He stopped a few times waiting for the other and then just settled into walking beside her, not minding the slow pace they were going at. They arrived at the lake and Nadeshiko smiled appreciatively at her son, saying "Touya is good at finding pretty things isn't he?" The lake was nothing special in reality but right now everything seemed beautiful to the woman's eyes and to Touya who has missed just being with the lady.

She moved forward then to the right, heading for the rather large rock to sit upon, sighing. She let her skirts down and tucked her hair behind her ear, watching the lights play with the water, leaning on the tree behind her. She called her son and beckoned for him to come closer to her, her smile never leaving her face. "Let's rest for a while. I'm tired. Hold my hand, Touya-kun."

Touya walked up to his mother, with a contemplative air about him. He actually wanted her to see other things 'Yuki'-san had pointed out to him but mother's wishes came first. He sat beside the rock and held his mother's hand. "Mom, you're cold."

Nadeshiko closed her eyes and sighed for the second time, holding onto her son's hand tighter. She creased her brow and answered him with a weak voice. "It must be because I'm tired Touya. I'll just sleep and-"

"Mom? And what mom?" Touya asked standing up in alarm. He suddenly noticed the deathly pale color his mother's face had and the heavy breathing she was making. "Wake up, mom. Okaasan! Wake up!" When she wouldn't respond he began to search for ways on how to carry her home but found none. With that he began to call for help from the first person that came in mind. "Yuki-san! Yuki-san!"

Touya ran towards the forest again and called out for the person who had helped him the night before. When he was nearing the area where he and Sakura had come across the white robed man he found him. "Yuki-san! Please help me."

Yue raised an eyebrow at the distraught figure nearing him. It was not that he disliked the boy but the meeting from before was supposed to be the last and the fact that he was awoken from his sleep - True he slept lightly but that didn't mean that he liked waking up suddenly for some unknown reason.

"What is it boy?" The man queried impassively, combing his hair with his hands as he sat up straight from his earlier position on the rich soil with the tree behind him used as support.

"Please help me bring my mother to the hospital. Please!" Touya said rushed and near to tears. He held onto the man's robes and grabbed them with his fists, burying his face in the other's clothes. "She's by the lake and she's really, really cold and pale now." Right now, he didn't really care if the man was being bothered - there are other things more important.

Yue looked at the boy coldly but nodded in agreement. He spread his wings, made the boy hang on to on to his neck and flew to the destination the boy told him where they would find the mother. He looked at her for a minute and then found a way to bring her to the other side of the city, though this would probably wear him out.

His eyes turned golden, a few seconds later their surroundings were of that color and everything seemed to stop around the three people. He paused in his quest for a while, wavering from the task. Once he got his bearing back he picked the woman up and held her tight.

"Lead the way to the hospital and to her room." He commanded and Touya obeyed.

Three o'clock in the afternoon, Fujitaka Kinomoto, supposedly still teaching in his college, got a call from the hospital. They called to inform him that his wife was nearing her death and that his immediate presence was requested by his son. He got Sakura from his female co-worker that he had left her with and exited his institution hurriedly, not bothering to speak to the director anymore. He cradled Sakura in his arms and ran for his car at dead speed. They arrived at the hospice twenty to twenty five minutes later, dashed to his wife's room, not noticing the man who stood outside of it.

Sakura stood to the side of her mother to the farthest end of the line her family had made. Next to her was Touya forcing his tears back and beside the boy was Fujitaka, sitting on a stool. Nadeshiko smiled at her family and reassured them that she loved all of them. With that said the man who stood stoic from the outside came in. She smiled at the 'boy' and bid him farewell as well, with a 'thank you and good bye'.

Averting her eyes to her husband, she cupped his cheek and nodded, her hand sliding down to hold the man's hand squeezing it for reassurance. The man looked at her sadly forcing a smile as her eyes began to shut close forever never to open again. Yet her face still remained with utmost bliss and happiness, as her ever present smile was there. It spoke wonders of her experiences with the man she chose and married - and with that Fujitaka Kinomoto cried silently, kissing her lightly.

---To Be Continued---

A/N:

By the way this is kind of AU since I'll be mixing a bit of the timeline, and I'll be basing it more on the manga(timeline and story) than the anime(cards available), I haven't gotten to actually comparing the two but I think it's similar enough.

About Yue, the part about him coming to Tomoeda because of power is a fuzzy part of the explanation to me. I mean why didn't he come earlier? So I might be crossing the line here but let's just say that he's awake when he thinks he needs to wake up or feels a surge of power but whenever the Clow Book travels he travels with it. He felt the power of Touya, Nadeshiko(Fujitaka commented before that Nadeshiko could see things and he 'couldn't'), Sakura and Fujitaka, therefore woke up.

Plus that Time stopping thing. Yes he used the power of the Time card. I'm not exactly sure if Time is under him or under Clow alone but I'm sure he can command some of the cards to do his bidding as long as it is under the elements controlled by the moon (this is basing it on the Final Judgement). On an added note I would just like to remind that the Cards are still sealed in the book, so he could borrow the power of Time. I'm not sure if distance affects it though ^^;; I also made him use Sleep card and the Move card (I'm not sure on this last one, I think you can stop objects from moving with this. Someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Also I have a theory that he can also use ordinary magic take for example, scrying magic and healing magic. Those two could be used by anyone who has power as long as they studied it and know what to do in order to use it. The mind reading is a whole different matter; let's just say he has that ability. Reminder, he's a composite of eastern and western magic so western magic isn't unfamiliar to him.

Thank you for reading, reviews, comments and constructive criticisms are always welcome.
