KK/ ok well I'm not sure how long I can make this but I want to say thankyou to all my reviewers, I love reading them and soon there will be a special "episode" (chapter) for you guys to enjoy, a little S&S mush and yes this is S&S not some cross over lover thingy, YUK! But yeah you have to have some competition for Syaoran. Don't worry Syaoran gets a few girls running after him heheheh Sakura will get slightly angry *cough* more like she goes postal on them but well ok. I think ill begin and if there's anything you need to know ill write it at the end.

Chapter four: The Sorting Hat

The sky was dotted in stars as Sakura looked up at them, everyone around here was talking in hushed and worried voices, nothing like this had ever happened and there was no looming figure of Hagrid over their heads yelling for the first years to follow him and the carriages that usually took the older students to the castle weren't waiting for them. Sakura glanced at Syaoran out of the corner of her eye and smiled when he turned to look at her.

"Do you know what's going on?" Sakura turned to look into the eyes of a blonde haired boy with dark grey eyes. Sakura just shook her head. "Neither do I, its really strange." Looking bewildered the boy moved on asking more people if they knew what was happening. Syaoran walked closer to Sakura.

"Do you feel it?" he asked in a whisper. Sakura nodded her head, they could feel bad vibes coming towards them and they both knew this was no Clow card. Syaoran summoned his sword while Sakura turned her key into a staff, both stood side-by-side looking towards where they could feel the evil presence. Everyone around them watched wide eyed as Sakura pulled glow from her deck and flung it into the air then swung her staff in its centre.

"Glow, lighten up the area so we can see, release." Sakura's voice was calm and quiet, her eyes narrowed as she tried to pinpoint where the aura was coming from. Then out of the shadows came a hooded figure scuttling across the grass towards them holding out an envelope. Sakura went to step forwards to get a better look but Syaoran stood in her way, ready to defend her.

"Who are you?" Syaoran yelled out to the hooded figure, it stopped and turned what they presumed its head towards them, it seemed to be shocked to have been found and its hand started rummaging in its pocket for something, they could hear him muttering under his breath

"Stupid, I was impatient and look what happened"

. Sakura's eyes widened figuring out what it was going to do.

"SHEILD RELEASE" she screamed and shield formed around all the Hogwarts students just as he yelled out

"CRUCIO" Everyone watched as the magic hit the shield and dissipated. There was total silence and they all heard the laboured breathing of Sakura, it had taken a lot out of her just to maintain the huge shield and when the curse had hit the shield it had almost drained her just to keep it up for the spell had enlarged and spread over the whole shield trying to hit everyone with it. Syaoran looked towards Sakura worriedly and he turned back to face the shrouded man. The man threw back his hood and all gasped, he was around seventeen with dark brown hair and yellow eyes; he was tall and rather handsome. He smirked and came forwards towards the shield and tapped his wand to the shield, it collapsed under the slight pressure and Sakura fell to her knees. The boy's eyes were trained on Sakura as she fought off unconsciousness. Not wanting to give up for anything Sakura unsteadily got to her feet and held out her wand in front of her.

"So it is true" The boys voice was deep and velvety and you could hear many sighs from the girls, Sakura glared

"What's true?" she asked hand staying near her pack of cards ready to defend again.

"That you are here" he replied smoothly and held out the envelope. "For you" he stated and placing it on the ground he winked "till we meet again precious" and with that the boy ran towards the forest and disappeared. Sakura recalled glow and walked on shaky legs to the envelope, everyone was quiet and watched with wide eyes as Sakura stooped down and picked it up but before she could open it she collapsed to the ground, her fight against unconsciousness lost. Syaoran ran to her side and checked her over to make sure that she was alright before picking up the glow card and putting it in Sakura's pocket then he moved Sakura so that she was in his arms and he lifted her up and turned towards the castle.

Everyone was still confused as they watched Syaoran begin to carry Sakura towards the school not once looking back. Harry, Ron and Hermione followed not far behind and after a few more silent moments they whole congregated mass began to talk at once, all moving off to the school wondering what the hell happened.

`Silly little girl, you have no idea what your up against and *sigh* its going to be one hell of a year for you. The one thing that astounds me is how strong you are, Lord Voldermort never told me you were that strong, it's amazing. I look forward to watching how well you do all through the year and how well you can protect your weak friends.' Haeda smirked as he watched the boy with messy hair and glaring amber eyes carry the beautiful card mistress in his arms. `And you, protect her with your life, she's to beautiful to die at Lord Voldermort's hands, even if she is our enemy.' After making sure that he wasn't seen by the other students he moved away from the small forest that eventually joined onto the forbidden forest and out into the dark and unforgiving night.

Once he reached the front doors to the school Syaoran waited for Harry to hurry up and open up the doors. Harry did what Syaoran wanted and walked with him inside the Castle. They were greeted by running teachers who skidded to a halt once they saw all the students there. Professor McGonagall took control and yelled for the first years to follow her and for the older students to go and take their seats. Madam Pomfrey was there also and once she caught sight of Syaoran carrying Sakura she quickly ushered them to the hospital wing to make sure that Sakura was all right.

Harry Ron and Hermione all went to the Griffindor table and sat there talking quietly among themselves.

"Did you see that shield Sakura put up? She would definitely have to be strong to protect us all from an unforgivable curse. It was amazing." Ron was saying while Hermione and Harry exchanged looks.

"Do you think…" Hermione started ignoring Ron
"no, there must be another reason." Harry reasoned

"But they did go to your house to stay"

"Why would they just be sent here to do that? I mean come on I don't think that's the all of it"

"But it is a part of it"

Harry nodded his head slowly in agreement while Ron looked between his two friends utterly confused.

"What?" he asked eyebrows raised

"They were sent here to protect Harry" Hermione said bluntly and turned to look at the teachers table. Everyone was there but Professors McGonagall, Snape and Dumbledore.

"Do you think she's alright?" Harry asked also looking at the teacher's table. Ron shrugged and Hermione gave Harry a sympathetic look. "Of course she is" Harry said to himself and stood up. "But I'm going to just check" Without waiting for a reply Harry headed off to the Hospital wing. Harry Syaoran and Sakura had become great friends while the two exchange students had stayed at his house and although he had a little crush on Sakura she was his friend foremost and he was actually frightened that she had used too much magic. Syaoran had explained that using the cards took up a lot of energy and magic and if you weren't skilled enough in using them it could kill you. What Sakura had displayed outside had been dangerous, he had seen the shocked look Syaoran had on his face as Sakura had erected the shield and knew right there and then she had never done something so huge before.

Sakura was sitting up and talking with Syaoran while Madam Pomfrey scuttled around her little Hospital wing. Harry walked straight up to them and smiled.

"So your ok?" He asked stopping Sakura and Syaoran's heated argument. Sakura smiled and nodded her head while Syaoran glared and shook his head.

"No your not, you need rest." He said angrily. Sakura just smiled and shook her head.

"I'm fine Syaoran, it was only a little over exertion from such a big shield-"

"Still you shouldn't have done-"

"And let all those people get hit by whatever that was?" Sakura asked her voice tinged with anger "never" she stated with so much conviction that there was a slight pause before Syaoran replied.

"You care too much about people Sakura" Syaoran whispered and then looked down at her. "Very well but promise me not to do that again unless it is a life or death situation" Sakura sighed and shook her head.

"You know I cant Syaoran"

"Well it was worth a try" and he smiled to lighten up to mood. "So Harry what's been happening?" He asked to change the subject.

"Well nothing really, were all just in the Great Hall doing nothing, were waiting for Professor Dumbledore and all the first years to be sorted." Syaoran nodded his head and they both turned to Sakura who was getting out of the little hospital bed.

"What are you doing?" Syaoran asked though it was obvious, he didn't want Sakura to get out of bed, she had to rest.

"I'm going to the Great Hall. Were supposed to be sorted aren't we?" she asked and not waiting for them to reply she walked out of the Hospital wing. Both boys looked at each other shaking their heads.

"She's so stubborn at times," Syaoran muttered as he and Harry followed the slight figure of Sakura Kinomoto.

Professor McGonagall caught up with the three students and ushered them towards the Great Hall to be sorted, well actually only Syaoran and Sakura since Harry was already in Griffindor. The hall was filled with students all wearing their black robes and pointed hats. Syaoran looked around the rooms and when he saw the ghosts he turned quickly to Sakura. She was pale and sweating, her beautiful green eyes were wide with fright and tears were brimming in her eyes.

"Sakura, you have nothing to worry about, you're the Card Mistress, you can face anything" Syaoran whispered in her ear and although it didn't stop her from being scared of them she calmed down. There in front of them in a single file were all the first years, Syaoran and Sakura stopped behind them and turned to face the students already sitting down. Professor McGonagall brought in a three legged wooden stool with a dirty and musty looking wizards hat. Everyone was staring at it, the Students already sorted in anticipation and excitement, the first years in wonder and fear while Sakura and Syaoran just looked at it confused.

"What are we supposed to do?" She asked and before Syaoran could reply the hat started to sing

(Now I'm no J.K. Rowling but I'm going to try)

"It's been a while since I could say

What was on my mind

Every year on the night of the feast

It's my night to shine

Ill sing you what my purpose be

For I know that you don't know

What I'm for but you'll soon see

I've done it since I was sewn

Ill sort you into houses four

From what I see in your head

Ill place you into one of these

From everything I've read

A Gryffindor will you please

Are a brave and a loyal friend

They strive for everything

Right until the end

The Hufflepuff's you might be

Of a hardworking rhyme

They a true and trustworthy

Till the end of time

Slytherin is another

That you might be in

Cunning and ambitious ones

And last but not lest are the Ravenclaw's

The cleverest of them all

Great learners and with sharp minds

There was a loud clapping and cheering once the Sorting hat had finished its song. Professor McGonagall shushed the students and proceeded to call out names of people, they would go up to the stool slip on the hat and after a few moments the hat would call out who was in what house. The line got smaller and smaller until there was only Sakura and Syaoran.

"Kinomoto, Sakura" Sakura walked stiffly to the sorting hat and sitting down on the stool placed it on her head. The hat fell over her eyes and she couldn't see anything.

"Hmm, a wonderful head, I see you don't like maths much"

"Huh?" the hat continued to talk to Sakura inside her head and she sat there waiting for it to come to its decision.

"It's a hard choice there between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Well you don't mind what choice I make?" it asked Sakura. Sakura sat there for a while and came to her decision

"Well I think you should chose since you're the talking hat." The `talking hat' chuckled and made its decision

"SLYTHERIN" it shouted and there was utter silence all around the hall. Everyone was shocked. The girl that had saved them was in Slytherin? A babble of talk issued after Sakura took the hat off and was walking to the Slytherin table.

"What?" Harry said looking at Sakura "how can she be in Slytherin?" Hermione and Ron were just as dumbfounded as Harry was.

"Li, Syaoran" Syaoran walked to the front all too aware of the stares from the girls and he blushed as one particular girl waved at him from her seat at the Slytherin table (Sakura if you didn't know). With the hat on his head he continued to chant the house he wanted to go to `Slytherin, Slytherin, Slytherin.'

"So you want to be in Slytherin? I don't know why, you'd make a great Ravenclaw or a Gryffindor even a HufflePuff, I really don't think you're suited for…oh now I see why, well alright I suppose if that's where you want to go-"

"SLYTHERIN" The hat shouted out and Syaoran glared all the way to Sakura and sat down next to her growling at anyone who tried to talk to him or Sakura. Sakura on the other hand was oblivious to all this and smiled at Syaoran. She was about to say something when professor Dumbledore stood up. All of the Great Hall went silent

"As you all are probably aware we have two new exchange students with us Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li from Japan and Hong Kong. I would like all of you to welcome them and the first years to Hogwarts. Now there are a few things that I need to say before we start the feast. What happened today is something that we don't really understand but from what we can we know that somebody placed a spell on England making the time speed up so that you would get here quicker then usual and from the reports of the perfects it was a young man, now you all know what happened there after you got off the Hogwarts Express so we wont go into that. The other things are that the forbidden forest is out of bounds and that Mr Filch has a new list up in his office of all the things that are forbidden in the school. Also there is no magic between halls. Now enough of that Scallops and chips lets eat" Dumbledore sat down and the plates in front of everyone filled with food. Sakura and Syaoran dug in like the rest of the school. The Slytherin table wasn't a very talkative group so Sakura and Syaoran didn't talk to anyone; the just ate their fill.

"The password is newts eyes and you'll both be staying with the sixth years in their dormitories. Have a good night" the perfect for the Slytherin's said as he walked off to his rooms. Sakura and Syaoran just shrugged and went their separate ways, both extremely tired.

KangaKilla: ok well that was a little short and I could have done more but I have things to do and I know what its like to be bored with nothing to do so you read and sometimes there's nothing to read so here it is. Sorry to all you people who wanted them to be in Gryffindor but hey I wanted this to be a little different and well not too obvious and predictable. Ok well I hope you enjoyed it.
