LAKE OF DREAMS

Chapter 9: Confusion

I couldn't believe he was kissing me. The feel of his warm lips on mine was unlike anything I have ever felt before. Kissing him was like coming home as his mouth closed over mine without awkwardness or uncertainty. He deepened the kiss obviously aroused from the feel of my lips on his and I suddenly felt that familiar desire of being with him take over me. Nobody has ever made me feel the way he does. The feeling of being with this man and the sudden fear I felt of being with him took over my mind and body that I didn't know what to do or think anymore. All that I know at that moment was how right this felt. There had never been another man for me, and never would be. He was the only one.

I felt his arms come around me gently as I responded willingly to his touch. I wrapped my arms around his neck in response as I deepened the kiss with obvious desire. Dreams could never compare to reality. Those numerous times I felt his kisses in the dreams were nothing compared to the real thing. His kisses tasted like dark chocolate mixed with the faint taste of coffee he drank this morning. So sweet yet bitter at the same time.

I played with the strands of his chesnut hair and I felt my body shudder from the pleasure I felt. I deepened the kiss as he growled in hunger. He responded almost immediately by pressing his body tightly against mine and slowly left my mouth to caress my neck with slow tantalizing butterfly kisses.

I closed my eyes in pure bliss as Syaoran continued to trail down kisses down my throat and shoulders. I never thought anything could feel so wonderful. I gave myself away totally and enjoyed every single moment of his kisses and caresses. I cherished everything about him, from the first moment I met him...until now.

I couldn't help myself any longer. I just couldn't stop doing something that felt so right. I continued to kiss her, the woman of my dreams, and kami-sama dreams could never compare to reality. Kissing her was unlike anything I have ever felt before. Although it felt so familiar...the taste and the scent of her was intoxicating. It's as if I've been here before.

The taste of her mouth, and the faint smell of hers alone drove me almost to insanity. She was irresistible....beyond words.

I continued to trail down kisses on her throat loving the sweet-salty taste of her skin, and I slowly kissed my way back up to her swollen lips. The feel of her lips on mine woke up feelings and hidden desires I never thought was in me. Although the feelings she awoken seemed so familiar and holding her in my arms felt so right...

After a few minutes we needed to stop to take a breath. I held Sakura in my arms as she buried her face on the crook of my neck.

"Syaoran?" I heard her whisper although her voice was somehow muffled.

I looked down at her tenderly. She was so adorable.

"Hai?"I answered and smiled down at her while I stroked her hair.

She looked up at me and smiled back. "Maybe...I should tell you about the dream I had last night..."

I froze for a moment. Then I looked down at her once more and gazed at her with uncertainty.

"A-Are you sure?" I asked with doubt.

She smiled up at me gave me a light kiss on the lips to reassure me that it was okay.

I gazed down at her in wonder, and just nodded in response.

She giggled lightly and once again she placed her head on my shoulder and sighed.

"I...I had a dream last night...a dream so strange yet familiar..."

I frowned all of a sudden. What did she mean?

I stroked her back in comfort as I felt her shudder at the memory.

"I...I was pregnant...with our child...I wasn't sure if it was our child but I knew that it was...and I felt myself drowning...drowning deeper..." She stopped suddenly and started to shake uncontrollably. I held her tighter in response. Our child? But how could that be? What does this all mean?"

"T-Then...as I fell deeper into the water...I suddenly saw you...with your outstretched hand and tried to save me...but then...it...i-it was already too late..." She continued to shake and suddenly I felt wet tears on my shirt.

I froze. Then suddenly I saw a vision...but it was more like a memory of something that has happened before....

*FLASHBACK*

She fell into the water, as I jumped in and tried to save her...kami-sama if anything ever happens to her I don't know what I would do....I jumped in and felt the murky water and my vison was blurry...but I could faintly see the hem of her nightgown drowning deeper...I swam as fast as my legs could carry me....and tried to reach out for her with my outstretched hand....

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I couldn't believe this...what did that flashback mean and why does it seem so familiar? I shook my head furiously and held Sakura tighter. I felt her still shaking form and looked down at her with a worried expression. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and I felt my heart break from the sight. I gazed down at her worriedly as I wiped her tears away with my fingertips.

" I don't know...what this all means Sakura...I'm confused." I started to say as I stared at her and continued to wipe her tears away. She just looked up at me and tears continued to fall down her cheeks.

"Just now...I had a flashback of something similar to your dream...but the weird thing is...it seems so familiar..."

She turned her gaze away from mine and looked away. "M-maybe because...it really happened Syaoran...I don't undertsand this either. But what other reasonable explanation is there? It's like we're connected by something...something strong and unbreakable...or maybe it's fate..." She explained in a soft tone.

I froze. She had a point.

"What about our connected dreams Syaoran? What does that mean?" She asked me suddenly and I watched her in earnest as her gaze moved slowly to the lake.

"S-Syaoran?...T-the lake..."

I looked towards the direction of the lake and I frowned in confusion. Why does the lake seem so awfully strange...?

Then suddenly I felt Sakura stiffen as she stared at the lake in horror.
