Chapter 2: The First Meeting
Sakura yawned and glanced at the clock next to her bed that read 10:30 PM. `Hmm… Ever since Eriol set up my computer earlier tonight, I've been meaning to check online to see how every one's doing back in Japan… Might as well go now, before I sleep…'
"Hey… who's this?" Sakura wondered aloud as a screen name she didn't recognize popped up on her screen.

Sakura sighed. `Well that was certainly interesting… and fun, I guess… Hmm… what time is it?' She glanced at the clock, horrified to see that it was already 1:30 AM. `Oh crud… How am I gonna wake up early enough tomorrow so that I can go shopping with Tomoyo? Gotta sleep… Gotta sleep… NOW!' Sakura thought frantically. She quickly threw her sheets over her head and tried hard not to think about anything to fall asleep sooner.
>Dream<
Sakura showed up in a park. `Hey! The flowers are all blooming!' she thought, admiring the beautiful patches of colors on the grass. She stood up to get a better view of the whole place. A dark shadow sat underneath a tree and attracted her for some weird reason. `Hmm… I wonder what that is…' She walked swiftly to diminish the space between herself and the darkness that sat under the tree. A cherry blossom fell right onto the dark figure, whose silhouette moved slightly, as if to catch the falling flower.
"Hello?" Sakura called out.
No response.
"Excuse me, but have I seen you before?"
Still no response.
Sakura edged closer. The sun moved slightly, revealing a pair of white Nike sneakers. Sakura gasped. "It can't be… can it?" she murmured to herself.
"Sakura…" a voice said.
`It's that voice again!' Sakura thought, her heart fluttering wildly inside her chest.
The now familiar voice repeated, "Sakura…"
"I'm here…" Sakura whispered. "I'm here," she echoed herself.
"Sakura, I-"
>End of Dream<
*BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*
"Hoooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!" screamed Sakura.
Tomoyo came rushing into Sakura's room. "Sakura! Are you okay?"
Sakura stopped screaming, trying to clear her vision so that the once fuzzy looking Tomoyo was replaced by a worried Tomoyo face. "Tomoyo?" she whispered.
"Yes, I'm here. Sakura, daijoubu deska?"
"Yeah… I… the - um - alarm clock just startled me… that's all…"
"Are you sure?" Tomoyo asked, alarmed that the clock had actually woken Sakura up since that had never happened before.
"Um, yeah… I'm sure."
"Cuz if there was something going on, you'd tell me, right, Sakura?" Tomoyo asked.
Sakura gulped as the tone of her best friend's voice was serious and demanding. "Uhh… Of course!" She tried her best to reassure her friend and smiled. "See? I'm okay. I was just startled by the clock, that's all."
"Okay… Well… since you're up already, why don't you get dressed? I'll see what I can do about breakfast."
"Arigatou, Tomoyo-chan."
Tomoyo gave a quick smile and left Sakura to her own thoughts. `It was him again! But I didn't get to see his face… again! Oh, why can't I tell who he is?'
~ Tomoyo ~
Tomoyo walked down the stairs to the kitchen after changing. `That was awfully strange… Something's definitely going on! But why won't Sakura tell me?' The amethyst-eyed girl looked up the stairs sadly. `I thought we trusted each other…' She shook her head. `No, I must believe in Sakura. When she is ready to come forward and tell me what's been going on, she will. I know she will…' Once more, she looked up the stairs, as if that would answer her question about what's been bothering Sakura lately. `Now let's see… what would we want for breakfast…' Tomoyo started preparing breakfast, soon forgetting about Sakura and concentrating on certain ingredients and recipes, humming `Yoru no Uta'.
~ Sakura ~
`Oh I just can't get that guy out of my head! But why? I haven't even seen him before… Man, I'd better not be going crazy!' Sakura thought as she brushed her long hair. After rearranging her hair so that there was a zigzag line on top of her head where she divided the two "halves" of her hair. `There! Perfect! Now… the clothes… hmm… what should I wear?' Finally, Sakura picked out a pair of cargoes, a red tube top, and a pair of sneakers. `Done!' she thought while glancing at the mirror. Just after getting ready for everything, she skipped down the stairs to the kitchen.
"Ohayo Tomoyo-chan!" she greeted, smiling. "Gomen for my outburst earlier."
"Ohayo Sakura-chan! Don't worry, it's okay. It wasn't your fault." Tomoyo smiled inwardly, happy that Sakura was cheerful after that awful disturbance earlier. She set down a plate of bacon, sausage, and eggs, while grabbing a cup to fill with orange juice. "Voilà! Your breakfast… is… served!" she said, pronouncing each word separately and deliberately.
"Arigatou, Tomoyo!"
"Just hurry up and finish! We've got a long day ahead of us!"
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see…" Tomoyo grinned evilly.
"Hoe…" Sakura said meekly.
"Oh, come on! It's not that bad," Tomoyo protested.
"Of course not…" Sakura trailed off, looking into space, leaving Tomoyo wondering if she was being sarcastic.
`I just gotta find out who he is, and what it is about him that makes me feel this way…' Sakura thought.
"Uh… Sakura?" Tomoyo waved a hand in front of her face. "Earth to Sakura!"
"Huh?" Sakura said, startled. "Yeah? What?"
Tomoyo stared at her. "I was just wondering what you were thinking… that's all… What were you doing?"
"Umm… Nothing… Why do you ask?"
"Well, for one, you had that spacey look in your eyes. And secondly, you didn't hear what I was telling you…"
"Oh… Gomen… I was just thinking… That's all…"
"Okay… Care to share?"
Sakura blushed slightly. "It's nothing…"
"Alright then. Don't tell me… but be assured that I'll get it out of you, no matter what… Anyway, hurry up! We gotta go!" Tomoyo said, with a smirk on her face.
"Hoe…" Sakura gulped down the lasts of her meal before grabbing her purse and joining Tomoyo, who was already in her new Lexus. The light purple car had smooth, leather interiors.
~ A few minutes later ~
"We're here!" Tomoyo said, pulling up besides the curb.
"Where's `here'?" Sakura asked, looking around at the empty parking lot.
"Stonestown, I believe… Or at least that's what I think Eriol said last night…" Tomoyo said, turning Sakura so that she faced the mall instead of the empty parking spaces.
"Oh yeah… I remember… shopping, right?"
"Duh! First thing we gotta do is… Get you more clothes!" Tomoyo squealed in delight, with stars in her eyes. She stared off into space, pulling out her camcorder and wondering what kinds of outfits Sakura would look cute in.
Sakura groaned, but didn't say anything, not wanting to hear anything else from her crazy friend.
Dragging Sakura inside, Tomoyo rattled on about the difference between the styles in America and those in Japan. "I believe flip-flops are `in' this season… Yeah, that's it… and maybe some jewelry… Actually, I think we should just look at the stuff there… Since I know all your favorites, this shouldn't take long… Hmm… Yes… You must get enough clothes for just the next couple of days… I'll see what I can do to make you some new outfits, as soon as I get all the stuff I need…"
Sakura zoned off, not bothering to pay any attention to her friend's babbling. Then she got a glance of a huge department store with not only clothes, but also accessories. "Tomoyo! Let's go inside Macy's! It looks like they have a variety of clothes… What do you think?"
"Huh?" Tomoyo stopped her ranting momentarily, looking a little dazed.
Sakura pointed at the doorway. "Yes or no?" she asked.
"Well, it's worth a try." Tomoyo smiled brightly, pushing Sakura towards the different racks of clothing. "Hmm… how about this tank top? Now… just to find it in a light blue color… or maybe this pale green… What do you think?"
Sakura just sat on a nearby chair, thinking about her dream guy while Tomoyo piled layers of clothing on top of her.
"Okay, now go try them all on," Tomoyo ordered.
Interrupted from her thoughts, Sakura came back to reality. Startled that she felt something heavy on top of her, she looked to find the source of this weight. "HOOEEEEEE…"
"SAKURA!!" Tomoyo yelled, trying to get her bewildered friend to calm down. "It's just clothes!!"
Sakura looked in front of her again, slowly gathering herself. "Oh… sorry," she apologized to the few ladies who had turned to see what the commotion was all about. After apologizing to the ladies who shook their heads disapprovingly, Sakura, embarrassed, rushed off to the nearest fitting room.
*RING*
"Moshi moshi," Tomoyo greeted, picking up her cell phone.
Ohayo, my dear, a voice said.
"Oh, hey Eriol! Where are you? You were supposed to be here…" She looked at her watch, then continued, "…You were supposed to be here half an hour ago!"
Gomen… But I had some things to take care of…
"Suure you did… Anyway… Where else could I bring Sakura? …You know what? Why don't you bring us sight-seeing? We could sure use a tour guide in this foreign city," she said slyly.
I am at your service, lady.
"Great! So… where are you again?" Tomoyo asked, repeating herself.
Right behind you, milady.
*Click*
A pair of hands sneaked up behind Tomoyo, covering her eyes. A voice whispered, "Guess who?"
Tomoyo giggled. "Eriol! Stop playing!"
A blue-haired boy appeared in front of her, uncovering her eyes. "Miss me?"
"Yeah, you wish!" Tomoyo teased.
"Well, I sure missed you, my love." Eriol gave her a light kiss on the lips.
"Ahem."
Both Eriol and Tomoyo turned around at the sound of the voice.
"Well, well, well… now who do we have here?" the chestnut-haired boy taunted.
"You'd do well not to come near us, Li," Eriol said icily, stood in front of Tomoyo in a defense position.
"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about that?" The boy's amber eyes blazed, his fists ready to swing out.
"You wouldn't last to find out." Eriol switched into a fighting stance.
"Hey, Tomoyo, I think I-" Sakura interrupted the two boys' fight. She looked from Tomoyo to Eriol to the amber-eyed boy, who seemed to blush. "Um… Am I interrupting something…?" she asked, confused at the expressions of her friends: Tomoyo looked scared to death while Eriol glared at the new boy, who glared back at him.
Nobody answered.
"Eriol, who's this?" Sakura asked, tilting her head slightly in the newcomer's direction.
"Nobody," Eriol muttered.
The still blushing chestnut-headed boy took another look at Sakura's questioning face and walked away, picking up speed as he got further away from the trio.
"Umm… what was that all about?" Sakura asked, still confused.
Tomoyo stayed quiet, unsure what to say.
"Eriol?"
"It's nobody that you have to worry about…" Eriol said quietly, still not tearing his eyes away from the spot the other boy was standing at earlier.
Tomoyo noticed Eriol didn't want to talk about that guy anymore, so she forced a smile and turned to Sakura. "Hey, what were you saying earlier?"
Sakura, not seeing that Tomoyo was trying to divert her attention, answered, "Oh, I was just saying that I think I found what I want."
"Goodie!" Tomoyo clapped her hands together. Then she pulled out several tops and shorts for herself from the stands of clothing. "Okay, I'm done too."
"But you didn't even try them on!" Sakura protested.
"Ah, but I already know they'll fit."
"But how?"
"I just do." She smiled one of Eriol's famous Cheshire cat smiles.
"Ah, dear, you're becoming more like me every day," Eriol spoke up, wrapping his arms around his beloved.
Tomoyo laughed lightly. "Come on, let's get this all paid. Then we'll go somewhere special!"
