Chapter Two - The Cage
Sakura had sometime during the last three hours fallen asleep, jetlag taking an extreme
toll on her. Her head had drifted down to the shoulder of the shy man beside her. He immediately
tensed at her touch, but gradually softened with the coming warmth her body gave him. He couldn't
understand how she could sleep at such a tense moment in time. He figured these kind of things
probably happened to her a lot.
His eyes roamed over her body, memorizing her features perfectly. He had read about this girl
in the papers, but never got the chance to see a picture of her, or watch one of her many
interviews. He was always too busy with his own interviews and training sessions. He finally
understood why she was such a popular young star. She was gorgeous. Her silky hair fell down
over her closed eyelids, longing to be brushed away. Syaoran's hand was almost twiching with
impatience. If only he could simply run his fingers through her brunette curls. [Heavenly], he
thought.
He watched as her chest rose and fell with each breath. How the slight pout of her lips begged
his to descend upon them. He quickly whipped his head toward the window. [What is wrong? I just
met her, I can't just go and kiss her, now can I? No!] He screamed at himself. He had to get out
of here, more reasons then one.
He gently laid her down along the back seat, careful not to wake her, and knocked against the
plastic wall keeping the kidnappers from the kidnapped. Eriol turned around and slid open the
little window so he could hear what the man had to say.
"What is it now?" He demanded, annoyance evident in his voice.
"I was just wondering how much longer it was going to be. My legs are getting cramped up sitting
back here." Syaoran groaned in discomfort.
"Man, it sure was a *huge* mistake kidnapping you rich folk. You'll be demanding shit for
ages!" the driver, Uragiru, stated from behind the wheel. Eriol just smiled and slammed the
window shut, never answering Syaoran's question. Syaoran glared at the back's of their heads
before falling back against his seat. He felt the petite body beside his stiffen. He glanced at her in
worry before realizing she was dreaming. Dreaming a nightmare.
"No...no, please." she moaned, her legs and hands whipping around slowly. Syaoran watched her
struggle against an unseen foe for only a minute before he's concern shot through. He shook at her
shoulders gently. Calling out her name softly.
"Sakura-san{1}. Sakura-san, wake up." He stopped shaking her as he felt her body tense up even more
at his slight touch. His concern peaked as he saw a lone tear slip past her closed eyelid. He brushed
away her tear, then moved away the locks of auburn hair that clouded her creamy skin. She began
to toss and flop around, as if her life force was draining away.
"No!" She shouted, grabbing the attention of Eriol and Uragiru. Eriol angrily slammed the window of the
plastic wall open, glaring dangers at the victims.
"Shut that tramp up, now!" He slammed the window again, as Syaoran's attention moved back to
the slumbering girl beside him. He tried to calm her down by running his hands over her face,
smoothing her hair back. He noticed a light sweat developing over her tanned skin. He laid down next
to her, holding her close, whispering in her ear.
"It's alright, cherry blossom. You're safe as long as I'm here." His eyes began to droop, his breathing
becoming even and deep. His eyes closed as he gave into the comfort of the darkness.
Sakura groaned in discomfort as she awoke from her slumber. Her eyes slowly opened, blinking
against the bright light flooding the room. She felt something pressed up to her and looked to her
left to see what it was. She gasped in shock as she saw Li Syaoran, sleeping peacefully beside her.
She noticed he had a slight cut along his forehead, blood running down his handsome face slowly.
She quickly reached for her purse, only to find it missing from her side. She groaned again in
frustration before reaching toward the bottom of her long tan skirt and ripping off a piece of it. She
carefully cleaned up the blood from his face and gently around his cut. He groaned loudly in his sleep,
his face twisting in pain before he jerked awake. He sat up quickly, moving away from her touch almost
as fast. He glared at her, his mind hazy and unclear.
"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down! Don't kill me! Onegai!{2}" Sakura pleaded, backing away into the corner
opposite him. It didn't take her too far from him though, she was only about two feet away from him in
the small cage that held them captive. She glared back at him, and waited for him to fully wake from
his sleep.
"Go-gomen nasai{3}! I didn't realize it was you, Kinomoto-san." Syaoran apologized. His gaze dropped
at his behavior, wishing he could take it back. He didn't mean to look so cruel. He was just startled.
Sakura's eyes softened as she looked down at him. "Hey, don't worry about it! It's fine." She smiled.
"What happened to you? Where are we?" She came closer to him and continued to clean his deep
wound. Syaoran winced in pain, then blushed at her closeness.
"Actually, I have no idea. The last thing I remember was you were asleep and were having a bad
yume{4}. I couldn't wake you, so I just fell asleep at your side." They gasped together, Syaoran slapped
his hand over his mouth. [Baka!{5} Why did you say that out loud?!] Sakura was touched at how kind he
was. She knew the dream that he was referring to. It was the same dream she'd been having since
*it* happened. Since her life was changed forever.
