Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ Return of the forgotten ❯ Encounter ( Chapter 8 )
8. Encounter
Sakura walked home from school, deep in thought. She reflected on everything that had happened yet. And she remembered her dream, her nightmare. Just the thought of Yue, her beloved Yue, turning to the side of evil made her shiver and tightened her throat. And there was nothing she could do, not before Eriol was there. She had promised him not to do anything before he arrived. But after all she knew about Vaine and her attitudes, Sakura really was not very sure that there was any chance of beating her, even with Eriol's help. Was it really hopeless? Was she going to lose her moon guardian, her love to the forces of darkness? It was terrible! Sakura tried not to show her concerns to the outside world, but she failed.
"Sakura-chan.", Tomoyo said while walking next to her, "Don't give up hope. If you stop hoping, everything will already be lost. Please don't let it happen. Don't let the darkness win. Keep up your hope. You must believe. Then, everything will be alright, that I am sure of."
"Arigato, Tomoyo-chan.", Sakura replied and smiled at her best friend, "I really try to keep up hope, but it seems impossible. I just don't know what to do. I fear that Yue…". She couldn't continue, her throat tightened up again and she swallowed.
"There is always a way, Sakura-chan.", Tomoyo tried to cheer her up, "Believe in your powers. Believe in yourself. But most of all, believe in your love for Yue. As long as your love for him is strong within your heart, there will always be a way."
"I hope you are right, Tomoyo-chan.", Sakura said, "I really hope so."
"Well,", Tomoyo said, "Here's where our ways separate for today. Be sure to get home safely. And you know you can always call me whenever you want."
"Hai.", Sakura answered, "Get home safely, Tomoyo-chan." Sakura waved at Tomoyo until she turned around a corner and then continued her own way home. The words of her best friend echoed in her mind.
"Do you really think so?", she heard a voice behind her. It was Yue's voice, but it sounded cold and harshly. Sakura turned around and saw Yue standing next to Vaine's shadowy figure. Vaine smirked and kissed Yue delightfully. And, of course, Yue responded the kiss. He looked so different now. So dark and cold.
"Y-Yue?", Sakura stammered. Yue didn't reply.
"He is mine, now and forever.", Vaine said, "Am I correct, my love?"
"Yes, my love.", Yue answered.
"Yue…", Sakura whispered.
"Do you really think there is anything you could do?", Vaine asked, "Are you really that naive?"
"I am not naive!", Sakura shouted, " I do believe in myself, in my powers and in my heart. Yue, I know there must be at least a hint of your emotions for me left deep inside of you. Please, Yue! Please don't let the darkness claim you."
For some seconds, Yue didn't react at all and Sakura already began hoping that he would be reasonable again. But then, he threw an ice shard attack at her.
"Stop talking such nonsense!", he shouted, "I don't care about the past anymore. I don't care about you anymore. I have now found my true love. You are annoying me. The next time we meet, be sure that I will destroy you."
Again, an ice shard attack hit Sakura and she screamed up, tears streaking down her face.
"Yue.", she said, sobbing. But Yue had already disappeared into the shadows.
"Give up before it's too late.", Vaine said, "He is mine now and will always be." With those words, she also disappeared and the surroundings lighted up again.
Sakura knelt on the ground, her body trembling.
It took her some minutes to regain the strength to stand up. Silently, she walked home.
"What kept you so long?", her father asked as Sakura finally entered the house and had closed the door behind her. As he saw her sad face, marked with traces of dried tears, he bent down lightly and asked:
"Why so sad? Is something wrong? You know you can tell me everything, no matter what troubles you."
"Arigato, otou-san.", Sakura replied, "It is just that my most terrible nightmare seems to have come true."
"Is it really that terrible?", Fujitaka questioned.
"I fear it is.", Sakura answered.
"You should not give up hope so fast. Everything will be alright, you will see. Just believe in yourself."
"I will try, otou-san, I will try.", Sakura said and headed upstairs to her room.
As she arrived, Kero was already waiting for her.
"How was school today, sweetheart?", he asked her.
"Hm.", was Sakura's only answer before she let herself fall down on her bed and buried her face in the pillows.
"Hm?", Kero asked, "What kind of answer is
"I met up with Vaine.", Sakura suddenly said, "And with Yue."
"Nani?", Kero said.
"They popped up on my way home.", Sakura exclaimed, "Vaine said that I should give up. And Yue…Oh, Kero-chan, it is terrible! He looked so-so frightening!"
"Nothing new to me.", Kero joked.
"This is not the time for jokes, Kero-chan.", Sakura said, "Yue has turned to the evil side and I fear that he and Vaine are going to destroy all happiness and hope in this world and there seems to be nothing I can do against it."
"Stop talking like that, darling.", Kero instructed her, "If you give up hope, everything will be lost. But you WILL find a way, I am totally sure of that."
"Everyone tells me not to give up hope.", Sakura said, "But it is so hard. It all seems so hopeless."
"Nothing is hopeless, Sakura.", Kero replied, "Everything will be alright."
"Do you really think so?", Sakura asked.
"Of course I do.", Kero answered, "I believe in you. We all believe in you."
"Arigato.", Sakura said, "I will try not to disappoint you."
"You won't."
"I hope so, Kero-chan. I hope that everything will be alright."
"It will, Sakura-chan, it will."
AN: I know this was a bit short, but I think it is good nonetheless.
