Rain Musings

Little drops have been falling for quite some time now. That did little to detour Shaolan.

“Marry me, Sakura-chan,” he said. She stared at him with big eyes. The little white bear about fell out of her hands. Shaolan caught it in time.

“Whoops,” he said. The young man waved his hand in front of her face.

“Sakura-chan? Sakura-chan?” he asked.

“Yes!” she was quick to say. Shaolan's eyes widened.

“Are you serious?” he asked. A drop fell on his right cheek.

“Yes,” Sakura said, nodding. “Yes!” The rain got heavier. Shaolan grabbed Sakura's free hand.

“Let's go!” he shouted. He grabbed the blanket and other bear. The couple ran back to the car. They piled back in. Shaolan and Sakura panted from the cold run. He reached for the key in the ignition. Sakura put her hand on his. He turned his head.

“No?” Shaolan asked. Sakura shook her head.

“You want to stay here?” he asked. Sakura rested her head on his shoulder.

“Yeah,” she said. Shaolan drew back his hand.

“Okay then,” he said. “We'll stay.” The rain hit the windshield. Sakura sat the little bears on her lap. She picked up the white bear's box. The ring sat inside. This really happened.

“Did you really mean it?” Shaolan asked.

“What?” Sakura asked.

“Do you really want to get married?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said again. Sakura told the ring out of the box.

“No, no,” he said. “Let me.” Shaolan took out the ring and slid it on her finger.

“It fits!” Sakura said. Her fianc breathed out.

“Oh good,” he said. “I was worried it wouldn't.”

“Shaolan?” Sakura asked.

“Yeah?” he asked.

“Can we stay like this for a while?” she asked. Shaolan smiled and patted her on the head.

“Sure,” he said.

“Thank you,” she said.

“Yeah,” Shaolan said. They watched the rain hit the windshield.
