Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ Scent of a Kunoichi ❯ Chap 3 ( Chapter 3 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

A/n: Hey people! Thanks a lot for the reviews. I nearly got a heart attack when I received so many after a day of posting it up. I know this chapter is pretty fast and I don't know why it was even this fast. :P. So…school's starting next Tuesday { I hope it burns down…jks but I still don't really like school.} I'm transferring to a new school. Yuck and well, what can I say? I'm an anti-social I like to keep to myself most of the time and I don't talk much coz I just find no reason to talk. Sorry for crushing some ppl's point of views. You can see that I'm really lousy at talking by my conversations in my story. I hope you really like this one. I'm working straightaway on the 4th chapter so that I can post it up before school starts. SELAMAT TINGGAL! that's goodbye in malay.

Disclaimer: I wish I owned. I read the CLAMP detectives comic and I nearly died from laughter. They were so funny. I hope I can go to the bookstore and find the sequel with Akira in it. Okay. I'll shut up now.

Scent of a Kunoichi

Chapter 3:

"SHEILD!" Sakura yelled summoning the Shield card as numerous of pointy ninja stars and cherry bombs penetrated the rice paper covered sliding doors. A translucent ball surrounded the 6 girls in the room.

"We have to get Minami out from here!" Rika yelled to the girls.

A panel behind the platform in which Minami previously sat opened. Chiharu was ready to throw her own set of stars when Yukito appeared with Touya beside him. "Quick this way!" he shouted. The girls followed him through numerous of passageways and secret rooms till the reached the throne room. The Emperor, Fujitaka, Kaho and Yelan were waiting for them. Their faces were void of any emotion but their eyes betrayed them of their anxiousness. Minami ran to her father nearly hysterical with tears while he made soft soothing noises. Yelan and Kaho were busy checking for any injuries on the girls.

"Come now my little bird, a princess shouldn't cry. They have to hold their head high and proud. Never let your people see how vulnerable you can be," the Emperor soothed his daughter.

"Touya," Kaho asked her husband.

"Yes?" he asked looking at his beautiful wife.

"Where's Sakura? She wasn't with the girls."

"Oh Kami-sama," he swore and started running back to the room.

"Touya!" Fujitaka called helplessly.

"Father, let me go. I would be able to bring him back," Kaho said gently. Fujitaka nodded sadly. He didn't want to loose his daughter again.

Sakura ran after the black figure stealthily. He was tall and seemed to be well built. She suspected that he knew that she was following him. Stupid kimonos, she thought as she shed off the layers skillfully with a deft hand. Underneath all those layers, she wore a navy blue suit that hung loosely on her. She wrapped her dark obi around her waist incase she ever needed it. You never know, she muttered pulling up her dark hood to cover her light hair. In the same process she took out her hairpins incase she needed them for protection. The dark figure scaled the walls up to the top of the building nimbly like a cat, attempting to loose the girl chasing him. Sakura managed to follow him using the Jump card. She felt a little tired from using so much magic in the same day. She had not recovered fully from the joining of the Light and Dark Card.

Landing on the roof softly, she crouched lowly, trying to keep out of the lights. She couldn't see the black figure anymore. Damnit, it's a trap, she yelled inwardly when she was surrounded by 6 identical figures.

"My little cherry blossom," the man she had been chasing said walking forward towards her. Two other figures quickly tied her hands behind her before she could retaliate; she was too weak to even move. "It's a pity you know, that I have to kill you. I heard so much about your missions. It's very impressive for someone as young as you."

"It was easy since so many men just wanted to get into my pants," Sakura retorted.

"Feisty, I heard of your temper. Beautiful and dangerous, a very nice combination," the man said. His face was just inches away from hers but she couldn't see his face because it was covered only revealing light coloured eyes which she couldn't identify.

She spat in his face. He wiped it off with his sleeve walking nearer to her. Every step he took towards her, she took a step back.

"Ah, look, the little cherry blossom is caught in a corner," the man said in an annoying singsong voice when Sakura's foot almost slipped over the edge of the roof. "Any last words? I wish I could have you but…orders are orders. Cold love?"

"Go to hell," Sakura spat fiddling around with her bonds.

"Oh no, not me. You are. Goodbye love," the man said leaning closer to Sakura who leaned back instinctively. She screamed when her foot slipped on the roof shingle and landed not so softly at the tip of the 9th story roof and rolled off from the impact. She sighed heavily from the pain, unable to make any sound, as the last thing she remembered was blackness and sadness.

"Sakura…"

"Mou, let me sleep. I'm tired. Go away."

"Sakura…."

"I'm tired. Go away," Sakura grumbled. The voice laughed gently.

"Sakura darling. It's not your time yet, love. It's time to wake up Touya and Fujitaka are very worried about you," the heavenly voice spoke.

"They are?"

The voice laughed heartily, " yes, cherry blossom. They are. Now open your eyes. They've been really waiting for a long time."

"Who are you?" Sakura asked curiously in the dark.

"No one important. Let's just say that I'm your guardian angel."

"I have a guardian angel? I thought those existed in fairy tales."

"Life is a fairy tale. It's how you live it to make it a happy ending. Now wakeup. Enough chit-chat."

"Will I hear you again?" Sakura asked her voice was beginning to fade.

"Of course Ying Fa."

Sakura groaned softly from her stiff legs and shoulders. She snapped open her eyes when she heard a rustling sound nearby and sat up quickly, wincing from her stiff muscles. The light in the room was dim and she could see Tomoyo resting on a pallet near her mattress. Sakura studied her surroundings and realized that she was in her own home. It was a miracle to her that she had even survived the fall. After she blacked out, she couldn't remember much only feeling the cold air rush beneath her and sadness, that she'll never be able to live wit her newly found family.

Quietly, she dragged herself out of her mattress, mindful of her injured ankle and quickly changed to her training clothes. She supported her weight on her right foot and leaned against the railing for support. Nimbly she jumped onto the stairwell banister and zipped down happily, careful of the corners. The ground level was empty and the doors were open as they usually were, admitting the cool dawn breezes and the sweet sounds of the night turning to morning. At the end of the stair railing, in which she was going down on very fast, she pushed herself off the railing using her hands and flew into the air tucking her body as she landed softly on her hands and did a split in the air like a gymnast to stretch her sore leg muscles. She lowered her right leg forward towards the ground, landing it firmly as she straightened out her body with her hands following like a dancer and did numerous of stretching exercises.

This is life, she thought to herself as she closed her eyes sitting cross-legged like a Buddhist monk, mindful of her injured ankle as she flung her cards out in the air before her. they automatically took their positions in a perfect circle around her. the cards fluttered excitedly as if they talked to her as she giggled and concentrated with her eyes still close. Her magic had grown ever since she last drained herself of it from the last time she combined the Light Card and the Dark Card. Lets see, what can I do now? Sakura wondered.

"Sakura?" Kero's voice called softly.

"I'm here Kero-chan," Sakura said without opening her eyes. The Guardian Beast flew towards her and settled on her shoulder.

"Are you alright? What are you doing down here? You're still hurt," Kero rambled on making Sakura giggled when she opened her eyes. She looked towards the east in hopes of watching the sunrise.

"Let's go to the roof, I want to see the sun rise," Sakura suggested as she summoned up the Fly Card and flew to the roof. "It's so beautiful," she stated admiring the light indigo sky. "Kero-chan how long have I been asleep for?"

"Three weeks," he said in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Hoe, three weeks almost a month. We're supposed to leave next week," Sakura said as the sun rose steadily.

"Correction, in two days," Kero said settling down like a cat of her shoulder before flying off when Sakura almost shrieked.

"HOOEEEEE! I must've been asleep longer than 3 weeks," she cried.

"3 weeks, 5 days, 8hours and 5seconds. I thought that I didn't need to round off the days to make it four weeks," Kero said sheepishly rubbing his neck as he settled on her lap.

"Hoee. That's longer than I thought," Sakura said a little softer.

"It was also because you were magically drained. When you fell off the roof everyone was scared especially when you nearly went through the second roof and rolled off. Luckily for you, your obi was caught by the edge of the roof and you dangled in the air like a rag doll," Kero said with a frown on his face.

"How did I finally get down?"

"Yelan and Kaho got you down with their magic. Your father and brother's magic weren't as strong as theirs." Silence grew between them as the sun grew higher.

"I have this odd dream or memory of me sitting up on roofs. I'm always drawn to sitting on the roof. Although I should be afraid of heights after the incident, it stills draws me towards it. I feel wonderful and free whenever I used to sit on the roof and watch the sun go up and down. I remember climbing up the roof and seeing a lone person sitting on the roof in the night, watching the moon grow as if waiting for me to join him. I always do but sometimes I wake and sometimes I just sit there with him in comfortable silence. I can't see his face but I feel right and not frightened. He is like a ghost that haunts my often in my dreams," Sakura said almost in a dreamy whisper. "Do you think it means something?"

"I don't know. It doesn't seem harmful. It's just someone sitting next to you peacefully," Kero said .

"Hmmm…but it was a nice dream. I look forward to that everytime I shut my eyes," Sakura said girlishly and giggled which soon turn to laughter.

"Sakura are you all right?' Kero asked worriedly feeling her forehead. It was burning hot. "Sakura, I think we should get down now. Everyone would be looking for us."

"Ya think so? I never felt so happy in my whole life. Well maybe when I was living as a kunoichi," Sakura laughed.

"You're having a high fever," Kero said worriedly.

"And I don't think anyone has ever really been bordered looking for me ever. They just expect me to come home and receive a punishment, isn't that funny? And there I go waltzing back home to get 50 lashes from the cook," Sakura babbled.

"Sakura, I think it's time for us to go down," Kero said sweat-dropping.

"How come we can't go up? Up, up, up, up!" Sakura giggled.

"SAKURA!" a few voices called for her. Sakura giggled putting her finger to her lips and hiding her aura expertly.

"Sakura, don't you think we…" Kero said but Sakura covered his mouth with her hand.

"Shh…let them try to find me," Sakura giggled softly.

"SAKURA…WHERE ARE YOU?" they could hear Tomoyo shout.

" KAIJUU!" Touya yelled and yelped when someone slapped him on the shoulder. "She answers to that!"

"KINOMOTO-SAN!" the servants called.

"They didn't listen to me when I told them to call me Sakura," she pouted. "No one listens to me."

They waited up on the roof until it was nearly noon. The sun was high and hot, but it didn't bother the two. Sakura grinned cheekily, when the calling stopped and flattened her aura more, knowing that Yelan would try to detect her through her magic. While waiting, Kero decided to play along promising her that he would remain quiet and even placed a bet on how long they could hide for. So far his time limit was coming to an end soon. Sakura muffled her giggles with her hands. They had promised to shield their auras so that no one could find out where they were.

"Visitors," Sakura whispered to Kero and flattened her body down. It was a lone rider leading another horse. Strange, why would a rider lead another horse? It is a spare horse? Or a horse that carries saddlebags? "Kero-chan, don't you think it's odd for a rider to bring his pack horse along? Wouldn't it have been better to just sell the horse and get the extra money?"

"And share a saddle with that person? You must be mad!" a husky voice whispered beside her. She turned around to see an older boy next to her with messy brown hair and amber eyes. His hair was wind-blown and looked as if it was never combed.

"HOEEEE!" Sakura exclaimed.
