[ P - Pre-Teen ]

A/N: Hello ppl! I know I told y'all that I would try to post it up before school started and I tried but I got stuck in the middle of the chapter. Sorry. It happens to me like that. Now I have school, which I am using as an excuse for my writer's block ^-^. I know I'm lazy but I can't help the writer's block. I've got two new ideas for stories which I have brilliantly in my head, but trying to write it out on paper and lots more including a very very very very very infinity boring science teacher that doesn't know how to teach. I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as the others. I'm my worst critic so I need other ppl to comment on my work. I'll shut up now

Disclaimer: CLAMP own this along with several other good anime. Let me rephrase that. Fantastic anime.

Scent of a Kunoichi

Chapter 4: Moonlight Sonata

"HOEEEEE!" Sakura exclaimed when she saw the boy beside her. She quickly got up and crouched down, ready to attack with two `fans' in her hands. Theses fans were silk on steel ribs that are often engraved or pierced in design. The outer ends of the ribs are very sharp, acting as a thrusting weapon when the weapon is closed and as a slashing weapon when it is opened. These fans were one of the many `hidden' weapons that a kunoichi is often equipped with.

"Ying Fa?" the boy asked. He was 6'1ft. with and athletic build. His intense amber eyes were a little puzzled.

"How do you know my Chinese name?" Sakura asked with a raised brow but stayed the same position. An unemotional face replaced all her giddiness and happiness.

"I was the one that gave it to you," he snorted his face fell and a flash of disappointment appeared on his face before he covered it up. "You don't remember who I am do you?"

"Let's play a little game," Sakura said placing her weight on her left foot in cased he attacked.

"Game? What game?" he asked.

"I'll ask the questions and you have to answer yes, no, maybe or depends. Understood?" Sakura asked.

"Yes."

"Good. Are you a friend to this household?" Sakura asked.

"Yes," he said cautiously, ready to summon his sword.

"Okie," Sakura squealed happily making Kero and the boy sweat-drop. "My ankle is killing me. Have a seat," she patted the spot next to her where she sat down. The boy sat down next to her and looked over her father's vast property and the trees of the forest that lay after it.

"Are you alright?" the boy asked worriedly.

Sakura pouted. "I'm supposed to be asking the questions not you," she stated poutily.

"Gomen," the boy said hurriedly.

"I'm tired of this game anyway. So where do you come from?" Sakura asked.

"China," he answered monotonously.

"What a coincidence!" she clapped her hands gleefully and flung her hands around his neck. He blushed a thousand reds and looked sideways at the smiling girl next to him. "Are you the person in my dreams?" she mumbled.

The boy turned to face her and found that she was asleep on him with a contented smile on her face. She looked like the child she used to be, young, innocent and bubbling of happiness. His cold eyes softened a little when he remembered the days he played with her when they were young and when they left China. The last time I thought that I would ever see her again, he thought. "Ying Fa?" he shook her gently. She smiled a little wider and tightened her grip around his neck unconsciously.

"GAKI what are doing, touching my mistress?!" Kero flew in front of the boy's face {we all know whom he is by now but for writing's sake} with a vein popping out on his forehead. The boy narrowed his eyes.

"Be quiet, stuffed toy. She's sleeping!" he hissed.

Kero gave off gasp of indignation on his new name but quieted down when he saw Sakura's sleeping form. He flew closer to the boy's face with narrowed eyes. "listen here gaki, we should take advantage of her situation here, she has been up on this rooftop ever since dawn and now it's noon. It isn't very easy to persuade her to go down, she's as stubborn as a mule. Don't that I'll be civil with you all the time I'm only doing this for her and don't you go fondling her while she's in this state, gaki."

"I am not that type of person and a gaki, stuffed toy," the boy whispered menacingly.

"Fine Gaki," Kero emphasized the word `gaki'. The two glared daggers momentarily before brought back to reality when Sakura stirred a little and snuggled closer to the boy who blushed deeply from such close contact.

He carefully lifted her up and cradled her like a baby. Kero flew into the bag in which Sakura always kept the Clow cards. The boy jumped of the roof and landed softly on the ground on his feet as if he had floated down the air, which in a way he could do using a simple spell. The Kinomotos and Tomoyo ran up to him worriedly followed by Yelan and a tall boy with navy blue hair and matching eyes. They stopped in front of him when Sakura gave off a little sigh and snuggled closer to the boy who was trying to push down the blush that threatened to appear.

"Syaoran, you found her," Fujitaka said happily.

"Let go of her now hentai," Touya growled.

"Touya," Kaho put a little restraining hand on her husband. She knew how protective he was towards family.

"Oh, where did you find her?" Tomoyo asked Syaoran quietly.

"She was on the roof top singing and placing bets with the yellow ball of fur," Syaoran replied monotonously and walked towards his mother and knelt in front of her with Sakura strategically placed in his arms.

"Li Xiao Lang, you are late. A Li is never late," Yelan said with her fan snapped open.

"I'm sorry mother. Eriol and I were attacked by bandits along the way here and he got us lost," Syaoran said with his head still bowed. Fortunately for him that his mother couldn't see his red face since Sakura's burning face was next to his.

Yelan sighed. "Take her to her room. I want to speak to you afterwards."

"Yes mother," he said and carried the sleeping Sakura to her room. "Come on, you have to let go," he coaxed her softly as her iron-gripped hands held his shirt.

"Don't wanna. I'm comfy. Nice green colour," Sakura mumbled and giggled in her sleep and did not let go.

Syaoran was in an awkward angle. He had tried to lay Sakura down on her mattress but, unsuccessfully held down by her grip. If anyone had walked in, they would have thought that he was doing something very very wrong by the closeness they were both in. he blushed visibly turning redder at the thought of that as he sat cross-legged with her on his lap.

After many of unsuccessful attempts to pry her fingers loose, he concentrated onto her very pink aura. He gave an inward triumphant smile when he finally located it. With a little mental nudge at his green aura, he engulfed Sakura's pink with a little of his own. She gave off a gentle sigh and loosened her grip around him, in which he pried off and laid her gently on her bed. A bowl of cold water and cloth appeared beside him when he gave a tiny flick of his wrist. He soaked the cloth in the icy cold water and placed it over a Sakura's forehead with a simple sticking spell so tat it would not fall off her forehead. She shuddered a little when the icy cloth touched her head, but continued to sleep with a tiny smile on her face.

Syoaran walked stealthily out of the room; careful to not trigger the `alarm' system the two girls had in their room and slid the door close behind him. He walked towards his mother's room with an inward sigh.

Sakura groaned softly as she woke up from her mattress. It was still dark outside like yesterday. Why do I always wake up so early now? she grumbled. Quietly she slipped out of her room like the morning before this time sliding down the stairs like a surfer after discovering that her ankle was healed. She giggled softly as she did a back flip and landed softly on her feet like a cat on the cool stone floor. Two of her fans appeared in her hand magically. One was pink silk with cherry blossoms on it and the other had blue silk with violets on it.

Taking out a black scarf, she blindfolded herself and began her morning exercises by stretching out her muscles. The Song Card appeared before her and bowed to her silent command. Sakura could hear drums playing a quick rhythmic beat. Taking in a deep breath and concentrating on the rhythm she began to do her own customized kata, which was more like a dance. Her pink aura flared within a protective shield in which she put up habitually along with the drumbeats in case she disturbed the rest of the others. Letting her body take automatic control, her mind roamed freely as her body flew across the room in a series of twirls, kicks and hands-free flips. With a small gesture of her wrist the drumbeats became faster, matching the adrenaline that coursed through her veins as she switched her weapon from the fan to her reversed-edged sword, which she slashed through the air with a flourish. She could feel the soft gentle morning breeze flow through the open doors and the sweet fragrance of the flowers.

The breeze turned into a small gust of wind that chorused though her shoulder -length honey hair. Little beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, as she continued her kata. Thrusting her blade forward, she felt it come in contact with something solid. The sound of metal against metal was undistinguishable. She raised a slight eyebrow inwardly when she heard the sound, but played along with her opponent eagerly.

With a slight wave of her hand, her shield crumbled down readily as she crouched down in a fighting stance. Her opponents' silence greeted her as she heard the slight rustle of his clothes as he crouched down in silent agreement of a challenge. She began to circle knowing instinctively that he mirrored her steps and leaned forward, feinting a running attack as and flipped high over his head, twisting her body, as she did figure eights to protect herself as she came down, each slice in the air was blocked by the others' sword. Landing down softly on her feet, she attacked her enemy repeatedly using a half of her strength. She felt her enemy smirk a little as she fell into defensive mode when he got the upper hand.

A bubble of frustration burst in her of being bested after a long time of an unbeatable record. Clasping her hands together, her sword changed from a reversed-edged blade to a sword, a close replica of her opponents' except built for her height and a little heavier for her. She swung her sword in position, her aura glowed with determination and fierceness. Her attacks became fast and tireless, giving her opponent no time to attack. She parried and feinted, smirking a little when her opponent gave off a grunt when she had cut him shallowly on his arm. A shield surrounded her as she took off her blindfold, swiping her sleeve over her sweaty forehead in the process.

Syaoron looked at his arm with a quick glance after he took off his own green sash that acted as a blindfold. "Milady, I hope you remembered me from yesterday," he said courteously with a tiny bow after transforming his own sword into a black globe-like pendant. {I read so many fanfics and I can't remember what the description of the pendant is}

A worried look flashed across her face as her shield disappeared. "I hope I didn't hurt you Syaoran," she said flashing him a sheepish smile, "I don't know my own strength sometimes." Sakura walked towards him and placed a cooling hand on his cut that sent tingles through his skin. The cut on Syaoran's had closed.

Syaoran straightened up his body, pushing down a flush. "Thank you," he said flustered a little by her touch. His face grew a little redder. She smiled into his face. A playful smile that reached her eyes and she ran away towards the forest that lay behind her father's property, giggling mischievously leaving him in the dust. He glanced after her curiously and felt lighter. His hand unconsciously went to his pendent, which he discovered was gone. No wonder she ran away like the wind, he thought smacking himself mentally on the head and walked towards the forest, ready to trace the little devil.

Syaoran, walked noiselessly on the forest ground, thankful for his green battle clothes that helped him blend himself into the surroundings. A twig snapped nearby him. His sharp eyes glanced towards it but he spotted nothing. A good trick, he thought amusedly, but I'm not the best tracker for nothing. He set off observing trails and his surroundings, knowing that her aura would be shielded.

The forest noises often distracted him. The flapping of birds' wings, chatter or rustlings of the leaves. Patience is a virtue, he thought as he stealthily walked in the forest. He was getting frustrated at not being able to find her. She's good, he muttered reluctantly. A flash of navy blue caught his eye and he followed it quietly. He saw Sakura running in front of him, her feet barely touching the ground. She ran fast, leaving a big distance between him and her. He ran into an empty space surrounded by trees. She had disappeared.

"Sakura, where are you?" he asked. A small figure landed in front of him like a cat. She giggled childishly at him.

"My mistress was right. You did fall for it!" she said in a fading voice as she disappeared.

Syaoran growled deep in his throat. Fooled! He jumped high into the air above the treetops and stood mid-air as if the air was solid ground. Hah! There she is!

He walked mid-air towards the girl sitting on a flat rock in the middle of the river-edge that overlooked a 30-feet high waterfall. As he grew closer, he could clearly see the pout that was plastered on Sakura's face.

"You cheated," she said sulkily turning her back against him and crossing her arms.

He chuckled. "I wouldn't have to if you hadn't done it before me. We're even."

"Says who?"

"Me."

"Me who?" she asked.

"Li Xiao Lang."

"Li Xiao Lang who?"

"I am Li Xiao Lang."

"But I thought you weren't Li Xiao Lang," she said pretending confusion.

Syaoran sighed, rolling his eyes. "Me Li Syaoran that said you cheated. Can I have my pendant back please? I found you didn't I?"

"Alright, alright. This still isn't fair," she said grumpily.

"Life isn't fair," he answered holding out his hand towards her back.

She turned her head, eyes twinkling with disguised anger. "I want to put it on."

"I can put it on by myself fine," he sighed inwardly, knowing that this could start another argument.

"Fine, then you won't have it. You'll have to come and get it," she said in a sing-song voice, tucking it under her shirt.

"Alright then," he smirked. He closed the distance between them until their bodies were almost touching, causing Sakura to lean a little backwards to the edge of the stone near the waterfall. " You asked for it," he grinned.

A/N: I know this must be the shortest chapter of all the other ones. I try hard to write at least 7 pages. This is barely even six! I hope you like the cliffhanger. PLS R&R!!!!!!!!!!! I think I said it before flames welcomed. I can rewrite this again if it sucks.
