Happily Edward After Ch. 3
Spike pulled into the bebop and turned on his intercom. He gave Jet the usual greeting and smiled.
"Spike. You're back." Jet laughed over the intercom, “I thought you died.”
"Well, you know better than that Jet. I'm comin' in."
"You got the bounty?"
"Nope, but I brought back something even better."
"Alright, what is it?"
"Ed!" Jet and Faye hung their mouths the bounty hunters stared at the girl turned woman. Even though Spike had announced her return, they couldn't help but be stunned by appearance.
"Hi guys." She gave her patent big smile with a hand on her hip.
"You've...grown up." Jet shook his head in disbelief
Ed shrugged and sat on the couch. Spike and Eien quickly joined her as they continued to stun the other two ship mates.
"So what's new?" Ed smiled
Jet leans over to Faye, "Is it me...or is Spike a little too happy?"
“You've got a point.” Faye nodded, "Hey Spike, what's wrong with you?"
"Nothin." Spike shrugged nonchalantly
"Then what's up with that dumb look on your face?"
"I can't believe this. You're in love aren't you?" Jet shook his head, he felt as though his eyes might pop out of his skull.
Ed turned her head and kissed Spike square on the mouth.
"You've got to be kidding me." Faye stomped her feet, "You're old enough to be her father Spike!"
"More like big brother, and I'm not her big brother." He countered
“I can't believe this." Jet began to pace the room, "So I take it you're returning?"
"Yeah, that's not a problem is it?" Ed asked her eyes turning sad
Jet scratched his head, "Not really. It's just that… it's really weird."
"Freaky is more like it." Faye shoved her hands on her hips
"Oh push off Faye. You don't have to be a jealous Grandma." Ed frowned as she retreated to her old hangout in Bebop
Spike shrugged again, "I'm gonna go train."
Faye was left with her mouth hanging low. I can't believe she called me Grandma. She changed so much. SHE'S EVEN WEIRDER
Spike did a few kicks and punches just as he heard someone enter the room. He could tell by the smell of perfume it was Ed. He smirked knowing she wasn't wearing it when they arrived.
"Looking for me?" Spike almost whispered
"Yeah, I wanna spar."
Spike turned to Ed and walked up to her, "You know the last thing I want to do is hurt you."
"You won't."
"You've got training?"
"Yeah, my Dad trained me. And the last time you went at him you got your ass kicked."
Spike smiled and pulled her to him, "And you plan to do the same?"
"Of course." Ed gingerly jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"Alright then, let's go."
Spike pushed Ed up against a wall and began to run his hand up her shirt.
"Ah...Spike." Ed moaned
“Something tells me you weren't really thinking of sparring, were you?”
All the sudden they heard someone clear their throat.
"Hey you two." Jet tried to sound calm, "We've got a bounty report."
Spike put Ed down and began to approach the sitting room. A red glow was on Ed's face as she sat down next to Spike. Faye gave them a scowl and showed them their next target.
"Damien Fisher. He works for the syndicate. He was found in an alley with a knife and a dead body. Nothin more needs to said." Jet informed
"How much?" Spike asked scratching his head as if he was bored
"Fifty thousand woolongs."
"Sounds okay." Spike kicked his heels up on the table and looked at Ed.
"Well," Ed stood and stretched, "I don't know about you guys, but Radical Red is on the case."
"Radical Red?" Faye almost spat
"It's my popular name. Radical, as always, and red." Ed pointed to her head
"Let's just go." Spike stood and grabbed Ed's hand
Ed waved back to a fuming Faye in a `ner ner ne ner' sort of way as she went toward the hanger.
It wasn't long before Spike and Ed found themselves on Mars in a bar looking for a lead. Neither was new to this kind of investigating, and looked up and down the bar for a perfect target to interrogate.
"So what's a foxy mama like yurself doin here?" A rugged man in a torn t-shirt asked. Ed could smell the whiskey on his breath and wrinkled her nose.
"I'm looking for a Damien Fisher." She finally said, getting past the grotesque smell.
"Well if you come back to my place, maybe I could tell you about em."
Ed cocked her eyebrow, "I don't think you know jack shit." She then turned and headed toward the other side of the room hoping to coax him into talking. But she didn't make it that far before she felt someone grab her wrist and was sharply turned around to the drunken man.
"Now don't be bitter sweets. Come and sit on Daddy's lap."
Ed narrowed her eyes, "I advise you to let go of me."
"But baby..."
"The lady said to let go." Spike let his voice run coldly
The man turned to Spike, "Nobody asked you buddy!"
At that point Ed let her fist fly right into his jaw, "Didn't your mother ever teach you any manners?!"
The man gave Ed crossed eyed look then fell to the ground. Spike quickly smiled at Ed and continued to work the room as if nothing happened. Because to this kind of crowd, stuff like that happened all the time.

By the end of the night they had beaten up a few more drunk men, and still came up with nothing. Which left both Ed and Spike extremely frustrated and ready to start cracking heads at any moment.
"What now koibito?” Ed asked as she walked arm in arm with Spike.
"You can still hack can't you?"
"Well it's been a while..."
"How long?"
"About a week." A huge grin on her face
"Ha ha.” Spike laughed sarcastically, “Let's head back to the Bebop."
Ed nodded and kissed his cheek, “Do you think it will always be like this?”
“I hope not, no one said anything worth two shits back at that bar.” Spike smirked knowing he was missing her question.
Ed smacked Spike's arm playfully, “I mean us, like this, bounty hunting.”
“I don't know, you sure you don't want that pretty house with the white picket fence?”
Ed laughed and kissed Spike again, “Nope, it wouldn't be any fun if we didn't make an honest living.” She winked
As the two retreated, a man from the rooftops watched, "Spike Spiegel."
Back on Bebop
"Ah Spike, um..."
Spike watched the face of a moaning red head underneath him. He knew that they should be looking for Damien Fisher on the net. But he couldn't resist the way Ed's hips shifted as she walked. All she had to do was give him a kiss on the cheek with that look of lust in her eyes. He had pulled her into the nearest room and undressed her, craving to be inside her once more. He would have ravaged her then if it hadn't been for the fact that he too, was still wearing clothes.
"Oh Spike."
Spike mumbled Ed's name as he thrust deeper insider her body. He lifted his eyes to her face, wanting, no needing to see her cum.
"Ah."
She dug her fingernails in his back and moaned his name. That act was all he needed to push him over the edge. He came hard, slamming into her body and rocking her back and forth till he collapsed on her. Spike took a few seconds to recover and rolled over to lay by her side. Ed still hadn't caught her breath and just smiled. He slowly ran his fingers through her flaming tresses. I can't believe she belongs to me.
"My lovely Red." Spike huskily sighed
Ed giggled and turned on her side, "And when do you plan to make me into a Mrs. Spike Spiegel?"
Spike shrugged and searched for his pants. Ed watched as he found them and pulled out a cigarette
"You know that's really bad for your health."
He nodded and lit the cigarette smirking. “A lot of things can be bad for my health.”
“Like what?” Ed sat her chin on her hand
Spike exhaled a trail of smoke, “A lot of things.”
“Am I one of them?” Ed tried to smile
Spike looked over his shoulder at her, “A woman is always a bad thing.”
Ed frowned but wasn't discouraged, “So are you trying to tell me that this is as far as it goes?”
“Maybe.” Spike eyed the wall. His thoughts had changed from the red head of his present, to the blonde of his past. He had lost Julia, and when he thought he had her back, she died. He didn't want that with Ed. Even though I have these feelings for her…I don't want it to end the same way. Julia and Vicious, Ed and D. Spike sighed and finished his cigarette.
Ed looked Spike up and down and let out huff. His silence not only irritated her, but it worried her. She didn't want this relationship to be just sex. Infuriated, Ed stood with sweat glistening on her naked body.
"I'm going to take a shower." She began picking up her clothes
"I'll be right there."
"Alone Spike." She sneered in a harsh tone.
Spike's eyes widened, this was the first time Ed was genuinely angry with him. She seems pissed. He thought for a moment that it might be the cigarettes. Or maybe it was because he didn't say that he was going to marry her. He sighed and shook his head. This whole thing just started a few days ago!
Ed washed her body fiercely; she wanted the smell of him off her. What the hell was I thinking? That Spike would love me after Julia? Yeah right, get a hold of yourself Red. You're only a kid in his eyes anyway. A toy. Tears ran down Ed's face as these thoughts collided into her skull. But I love him so much. Why can't he love me more back?
"Ed."
Ed heard his voice through the shower curtain. She was glad he couldn't see her crying. He'd probably think I'm some love struck girl. But I am, I'm very much in love with him and he doesn't feel the same about me!
"Ed?"
"What Spike?" She spat
Spike was taken aback again by her tone, "Are you mad at me?"
Ed sighed, "No, I'm...forget it."
Spike began to pull back the shower curtain.
"Spike please, you'll get water all over the floor." Ed knew that was a lame excuse, but she didn't want him to know she was crying. Especially over him, it was true this relationship had just started. But to Ed's ears, Spike had told her he didn't want anything more than just a good fuck. She understood it was too early for things to be serious, but she at least wanted to know there was a chance it would be.
"Can I come in?" Spike tilted his head to the side feeling guilty, although he didn't quite know why.
Ed quickly rinsed off the soap on her body, "It would be kind of pointless. I'm almost done."
"I know, but you haven't really had a shower until I've washed you myself."
"Well sorry to tell you this Spike, but my bathing technique is not faulty. And I'm old enough to do it myself. When I need a father, then I'll call you."
Now Spike was really surprised, and hurt. He knew something was wrong. He just didn't know what, and how to fix it.
Spike sighed, "Alright." He had never felt defeated before. Usually he would have some kind of smart ass comeback, but the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her feelings by saying something like, “Then quit acting like a little kid and grow up!” He winced at even the thought of saying something like that to her.
Ed heard him leave and close the door. She turned off the water and stepped out to look at herself in the mirror. I hurt him, I shouldn't have said that. Tears began flowing down her cheeks. .And she felt as if somehow she made him love her even less, if he loved her at all.
Faye was in the hall as Spike came out of the bathroom looking defeated. What's eating Spike Spiegel? She giggled at her joke and then straightened up. She was going to get to the bottom of this eerie mystery. She followed him to the cockpit of the Bebop.
"Hey Spike."
Spike kept his back to her and waved.
"Dooshitano?" Faye walked up beside him
"Honestly, I don't know."
"Sounds like woman trouble if you ask me." Jet walked in
"Why is everyone so interested in my life?!" Spike threw his hands in the air
"Because there's nothing more interesting at the moment, even the soaps don't get this good. You should have your own show. The Old and the Red Headed." Faye laughed
"That's pathetic." Spike crossed his arms
"Ah come on Spike." Jet patted his shoulder, "What happened?"
"She's mad at me. And I don't know why."
"Did you ask her?" Faye intervened
"I asked her if she was mad at me."
"Well since you can tell she is, ask her why. Don't mope around feeling sorry and wondering what you did. God men are just absolutely clueless." Faye shook her head
Spike and Jet watched Faye ramble on about how horrible men are, then slowly retreated to the sitting room.
"Go ask her what's wrong. A woman's mind is a jumble of riddles and puzzles. When you think you've got it, you're completely wrong. Just be up front about it." Jet advised
Spike nodded and headed toward Ed's hangout spot, hopeful that she would be there.
When he walked in the rear of the ship he found her in a red shirt with a flame on it. Her blue jeans fit tightly to her curves, and as usual she was bare footed. She was lying on her back, her hair splayed around her like a ring of fire.
"Ed."
Ed closed her eyes, "Spike."
"I need to know what's wrong." He sat down beside her, "Or I can't fix anything."
Ed turned on her side and sighed, "I don't want to talk right now."
"But we need to." Spike said sweetly, he began rubbing her back, hoping she'd feel better and open up to him.
"Do you love me?"
"Of course I do. Did you think I didn't?"
"Yes."
Spike forced Ed to turn over and look at him, "I love you more than anything Ed. It's weird because we've just started out and I love you this much. And the last time I felt like this was…"
“When you were with Julia.” Ed nodded, “But this is different, there's no syndicate and there's no Vicious.”
Spike looked at her surprised that she knew. “Who told you this?”
“I'm a hacker, there's always someone with a big mouth out there. A lot of rumors went around, but I got the gist of it.”
Spike scratched his head, “I don't want you to think that I don't care about you…and that this is just something to pass the time.”
Ed sat up and kissed him passionately, "Good Because I need you Spike. I love you and I need you."
Spike nodded and kissed her, "We still haven't got anything on that Fisher guy."
"Yes we do. After I got out of the shower I looked him up. He's on Mars staying at the Burnsbo Hotel Rm. 193." Ed smiled proud of herself.
"Then let's go get him."
At the Burnsbo Hotel
"So you're sure they'll come looking for you?"
"Yeah, I made sure that they'd find me."
"Good. I want him dead no one's allowed to touch my Red." Deadly D slammed his fist on the table.
"And all this for a woman?" Fisher puffed on a cigar
"I love her. We were meant to be."
"Hm. I hope she's worth the amount you're paying me."
"I shouldn't be paying you so much. I mean, you do get to be the one that will be known for killing the infamous Spike Spiegel."
"Hn."
"Just make sure you do your fucking job." Deadly D rose from the table and left.
"Oh I will." A wicked grin crossed Fisher's face.
