Vicious' eyes glinted in excitement as he watched Pheonix approach the entangled Faye.
"You're not being fair," Rei said and Vicious glanced at her.
"I know. Of course, I'm never fair," he replied.
"Weren't you fair with me?"
"I had originally planned to kill you."
"I know that. You don't regret letting me live, do you?"
"You are not a liability more than anything. I have jeopardized my position somewhat because of how I feel about you."
"I'm sorry. Perhaps you should have shot me when you found me."
"I was supposed to have killed you the first time in that bar. Have you forgotten about that scar?"
She ran a hand over the leg that Vicious had injured some years before. He was going to kill her, if it hadn't have been for a police raid that unexpectedly happened at the same time.
"If you want out, leave. But there are plenty of people out there that want you dead. At least here, you've got some protection."
Faye screamed and Vicious turned his attention to the monitor.
"He's having fun. I didn't know the males of your species could be so brutal," Vicious commented.
"I don't know much about the males of my species," Rei replied.
"Let's see how Spike is doing."
Vicious leaned forward to switch cameras then stopped when the screen flickered off.
"I don't like this," Rei said.
"Someone made it to the bedroom."
"Vicious, I know you can hear me," Spike said.
"Why yes I can, Spike. What the hell do you want?" Vicious asked.
"You know damned well why we're here. Give her up."
Vicious threw his glass at the blank monitor and listened to it shatter.
"Damned bastard," he hissed as he punched some buttons on the keyboard in front of him.
"What are you doing? I can't keep track of your thoughts. They're too irregular," Rei commented.
"I'm going to make them all PAY."

Jett fired his gun at Pheonix. The Taliban dodged the shot and swiped his claws across the wires connected to the fuse box, silencing the lights. He moved quickly up the stairs towards the bedroom where he knew Spike was.
"Pheonix, if you value money that much, you'd be wise to get out of there," Vicious' distorted voice said and Pheonix laid a hand on the communicator attached to his ear.
"You're breaking up. A second time and be quick about it," he hissed as he flattened himself to the ground.
"Get out of there if you value money that much."
Pheonix heard the *click* of a gun and looked up. Spike stood in front of him, wearing infared glasses. He had the gun poised directly at the Taliban's head. Pheonix narrowed his eyes. He lunged at Spike, knocking him off balance. The gun fired and the bullet ricocheted off a painting then passed through the glass window. Pheonix's ears twitched as he glanced around. He delivered a swift blow to Spike's chest then climbed up on the windowsill.
"I'd stay, but death by toxic gas really doesn't suit me," he said and jumped out of the window. Glass shattered and Spike soon heard the sound of running footsteps. He laid a hand on his abdoman then drew it away. Blood.
"Spike!" Jett's voice cried and Spike glanced up.
"Over here," Spike grunted as he tried to pick himself up off the floor. "Damned Taliban."
"What happened?" Faye asked and Spike glared at her.
"I'll tell you what happened. You wanted to play the hero. That's what happened. We've got to get out of here."
"But Spike, your injury..." Jett said and Spike glared at him.
"If we don't get out of here, we'll all be dead. Vicious wants to poison us," he said.
"Come on, Spike. Let's get you up and out of here."
"You're not planning on going out that window, are you? We're on the second floor," Faye said.
"We have no other choice," Spike grunted as he clutched his stomach in pain. "I don't think I can manage the drop, though. Not with this wound bleeding like it is."
"I'll go first then," Jett said and turned to Spike. "Faye will make sure you make the jump right and I'll catch you."
"Sounds stupid, but all right."
"You're not being fair," Rei said and Vicious glanced at her.
