Vicious turned his attention to another monitor and narrowed his eyes when he saw the figures of Spike and Jett. He pressed the communicator button as he watched Pheonix go about his business.
"I want that information fast," he hissed and Pheonix hissed back, his voice sounding unnatural.
"It will take as long as it takes!" he retorted.
"We've got company."
"Company?"
"A couple of my...friends."
"Oh? Sounds like fun."
Vicious said nothing as he turned down the setting on the security system. He felt like toying with them for awhile. He wanted to give them a false sense of security while Pheonix interrogated his quarry. He heard Rei whimper and glanced at her.
She was still asleep but the thoughts of the bounty hunters were most likely making her restless. Vicious set his wine glass on the table and stood up. His bird fluttered its wings in annoyance as Vicious made his way over to the bed and gently shook her.
"You need to get up. I'm sure you can hear what they're thinking," he said as she opened her eyes and yawned.
"I was hoping I was dreaming," Rei said as Vicious handed her some clothing.
"You aren't. Get dressed. I have to make sure the escape routes are clear."
"Why do they go after you so much?"
"Because I've got power. Hurry up. You don't need to be modest with me. I know full well what your attributes are."
She looked at him for a moment then obeyed. She could feel his agitation and knew that it had to do with her. She pulled up her pants and began placing her feet in her sandals. She still had one in her hand when Vicious grabbed her arm and dragged her towards the door.
"Wait, will you?" she asked as she drew back.
"I've got to get you out of here," he said.
"Fine but can't I at least get my other shoe on?"
"All right. I'm tempted to carry you, but that would gain nothing. Thankfully fy employees should be hee soon so that should put you a little out of danger. I just wish I knew the name of the bastard that put a bounty on you."
"It's a girl," Rei said and Vicious stared at her.
"What are you hearing?" he asked.
"Faye. In amongst her silent screams I can hear the name of her employer but it's hard to make out."
"But it is a woman."
"Yes."
"The bitch wasn't satisfied," Vicious growled.
"What are you talking about?" Rei asked.
"The Blue Dragons. The bitch wants my property and she'll stop at nothing to get it. She's the one that put the bounty on you. I'm sure of it."
"Just to get your territory?"
"I would have done the same thing. I know you can't ignore the wall of ice that others see."
"You're right," she said softly. "I can't ignore that, although I would very much like to."
"They're getting closer. Pheonix, I've already got the information I needed and I've set the system on automatic. You know what ot do," Vicious said and flipped a switch. He glanced over to Rei as he walked over to the bed. He pressed a button on the wall and the bed split apart to reveal a hole. Vicious jumped down and Rei followed, landing lightly on her feet. Darkness closed in from above as light, similar to the ones used in subway systems, switched on.
Vicious' boots tapped on the metallic surface as he ran to his escape vehicle. They ran for what seemed like miles until Vicious pushed up on a loose slab of marble and heaved himself up onto the surface.
"Where are we?" Rei asked as Vicious lit a cigarette.
"My office," Vicious replied as he placed the piece of marble back and sealed the hole.
He walked over to his desk and pressed a button. A flat monitor dropped down from the ceiling as a keyboard materialized on the desktop. He swiftly typed in some commands then watched the monitor.
"Let's see how they're doing," he said and leaned back in his chair.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" Rei asked and Vicious smiled darkly
"Of course I am. Since Spike and I don't work on the same grounds, tormenting him is fun. I've already locked my weapons system on the bounty hunters so all I need to do is watch the fun."
"Are we safe here?"
"For now. No place is COMPLETELY safe."
He reached up and stroked his bird's feathers as he watched the events on the screen.

Phe onix watched from a support beam, his eyes glittering with excitement as he watched Faye break loose from her handcuffs. He had weakened them with acid before he had left her. She blasted off the lock of the cell door then cautiously stepped forward. Pheonix climbed into the ventalation shaft and followed her like a silent disease. He opened an exhaust portal and dropped down into the shadows. Faye spun around, her gun held at the ready as she listened for one second. Two. Three. The only thing that she could hear was the sound of her own breathing. She switched on her communicator in hopes of reaching someone.
"Jett, I know this may sound stupid..." Faye said.
"Where the hell are you?" Spike demanded and Faye sighed.
"In the basement I think. I was being tortured."
"Yeah we all have our off days. Look, why the hell were you trying to do this one by yourself?"
"I didn't want you to injure her."
"Yeah well we've got no idea where the bitch is now. Damn it!"
The communicator buzzed static and Faye switched it off. She figured that they were still on the ground floor, which would be easy to get to if she could find the stairs. She glanced behind her, the feeling that she was being followed still clinging to her mind. Again she saw nothing and she shrugged her shoulders.
"Get ahold of yourself Faye. You're too big of a girl to be afraid of shadows," she said aloud.
Pheonix watched her and smiled. He was enjoying himself. Anxiety in others was always an enjoyable thing to watch. Fay turned around and continued forward, her steps less sure as the Taliban silently followed her. He wondered just what Vicious had set his security system to as he instinctively ducked. A blast of fire sailed over his head and Faye turned around in shock.
"What the hell...? Spike! Jett! Can you hear me?"
"What the hell do you want?" Spike's voice asked.
"I think Vicious has switched on his security system."
"Now what gave you that idea?"
"Look, where the hell are you? The walls are shooting at me."
"We're upstairs. Try to figure out how to get up here. We've got our own problems."
The roar of a tiger met Faye's ears and her hands shook in shock. A tiger? But weren't those animals supposed to be extinct? She saw a door at the end of the hall and ran for it. Pheonix watched her touch the doorknob then become entangled in some sort of wire.
"Damn it! Let go of me!" Faye cried as Pheonix stretched his arms. Now was the time to make his move.
"I want that information fast," he hissed and Pheonix hissed back, his voice sounding unnatural.
"It will take as long as it takes!" he retorted.
