** Ok standard Note: I don't own any part or any characters from InuYasha and Yu Yu Hakusho. I just borrow the characters to play with for a while, and then give them back, only slightly mentally damaged… (Swings broom at Youko to force him back in my closet) Not you! You have to stay and 'play' a little longer… hahahah ok on with the story… **

`Of all the damn stupid timing, we should have stayed.'

Youko was positively livid, only a few hours after his talk with Genkai, his mother had called him claiming an emergency, and had asked Shuichi to come home. Granted it was something most people would consider an emergency, his step-father had been in a car accident and was now in the hospital. But now he was torn between his want to stay and support family, most importantly his mother-- and Youko's desire, his as well, but not as strongly- to be with the woman they'd left sleeping at Genkai's.

And to make matter worse, Youko was giving him a serious headache, because he wouldn't stop complaining and ranting. Kurama closed his forest green eyes, trying to fend off the pain in his head and block out Youko's voice.

Sighing, Kurama tried to forget where he was. He hated the hospital; the smell of it, the look of it…too clean, too white. The disinfectant was so thick in the air he could almost taste it, and the above lighting bouncing light off all the white surfaces to almost hurt his eyes with it's brightness. He'd spent so much time in hospitals during his youth when his mother battled her sickness. Anyone should be able to understand his utter detest for anything even remotely hospital like.

And Youko was not helping; his headache had become a full blown, pounding migraine. It was all he could do from going to the nurse's desk and asking for Tylenol, which was the last thing he wanted. The drug always made him feel fuzzy and dulled his senses. Any medicine also seemed to give Youko an advantage, making it easier for his alter ego to take control of their shared body. Right now that would mean Youko walking them right out of the hospital and straight to Genkai's. Kurama's eyes jerked open again as a cold cloth touched his forehead, almost jumping from his seat.

His eyes met his loving mother's as she smiled gently down at him, “I could tell you had a headache and I know you hate hospitals so I thought the cold cloth would help.”

Her voice was as almost always a gentle song like tone; it never failed to relax him, and what's more it would also have an effect on Youko. No matter the kitsune's mood, he would settle as if being spoken to by his own long dead mother. Her face, while carrying telltale signs of stress, was still the picture of calm grace. He didn't know how his mother always seemed to keep her dignity and pose no matter the situation.

“You know Shuichi if you'd like or have other things to do you can go on home,” Something in her smile made Kurama think there was something else she wanted to say too, but she was pausing. Strange for her, she usually would tell him whatever it was she was thinking; having been only the two of them for most of his life, they had a very open relationship.

“I'm fine mother, I'll stay with you until you can see father, I'm sure it won't be long now.”

`Better not be long'

`Quiet,' His smile betrayed nothing of the internal conflict between him and the Silver Fox spirit, but then he'd had a life time to perfect this talent.

He waited to see what his mother would say. She continued to worry her lip, and by now he now had a pretty good guess as to what was on her mind. The one topic he could never please his mother in…the one topic she bothered him over, and the one topic he avoided like the plague when around his mother.

“Well Shuichi you are a young man, I'm sure you had plans for today. Maybe a date? You know that young nurse has been eyeing you for some time, and she seems pretty, why not ask her for her number, I'm sure you'd get it.”

`Hah! If we asked we could probably get her into a backroom for a quickie.'

`Shut Up, and I thought we wanted the girl. You know…the raven-haired beauty we saved last night.'

`Of course we want her, it was just a comment. After all, your mother seems more worried about our sex-life then you are.'

Kurama had to sigh mentally at that, it was true; his mother worried about that because he'd never brought a girl home, not once. But to be truthful he'd never let a girl get that close to him, he'd had a tryst here and there but never did he let anyone in. After all, who could accept a man with two souls, one of which was a demon that had more enemies then could be counted, most of them very deadly. Youko's mood swings were another problem; he often found the women Kurama picked for these meetings to be only slightly bearable at best. Good enough for the job was how he often said it, and should any of them over step what he considered the line in the relationship, he would pitch such fits that Kurama would end it just to get some peace. But, Kurama had to tell his mother something.

Smiling in his own deceptive way, he was struck with an idea, “As nice as I'm sure she is mother, I have already found a girl I'm interested in.”

`Good boy, now we just need to convince the girl.'

“Oh Shuichi that is wonderful news, what's she look like…will you bring her for dinner soon? I'd love to meet her.”

“Well Mother it's actually only in the beginning stage, right now. I've only just met her and have barely begun to date you know.”

`Yeah, first date saved from a demon and a trip to a temple A plus material there.'

Kurama smiled, as his mother's face took on the excitement like that of a child being told about fresh baked cookies. Luck seemed to be with Kurama today, as the billions of questions his mother looked about to bombard him with, most of them he wouldn't know the answer to anyway, was faulted by the nurse coming to say they could see his step-father. His mother threw him a `We'll-talk-later-about-this' look before rushing off with the nurse to see her husband.

Brown… Brown… Brown walls… Brown ceiling…. Brown floors….

Never had Kagome been more sickened by the color then she was right now, she'd opened her eyes in an unfamiliar place, and that was all she could see. She couldn't even muster the energy to sit up, but she could sense demon presences in the building, and one very powerful human presence. But worst of all, her mind had taken on a fog worse then pea-soup. She could only remember bits and pieces of yesterday, or at least she thought it was yesterday… Adding onto that, her dreams were staying on her mind. Her dreams and reality were blending in the worst possible way.

So all together it was a difficult effort to stay awake and try to think clearly, but Kagome wanted to know where she was. She was fairly sure there had been a demon involved in her current condition. So it was, again for her, a possibility of her being held captive somewhere…shouldn't there be a rule where girl can only be held captive a set number of times in her life? Sighing, she realized it was just her; this kind of thing doesn't happen to normal girls.

But the more Kagome tried to think, the more her eyes drooped and the more her mind took on a fuzzy edge. Sleep wanted her back, and her mind seemed happy to comply. So giving these circumstances it should be no surprise that Kagome didn't even notice the sounds of foot steps on those brown wood floors. Kagome did hear the sound of the door sliding open, but her mind had already began shutting down so all she could manage was to lift her eyes. Finally, those eyes slid shut and sleep reclaimed its unwilling victim.

The sounds that followed never reached Kagome's mind. Yukina's eyes widened, her mouth gaped and the tray in her hands tilted just enough for the bowl on the tray to slide off and crash loudly onto the floor at her feet. A black blur moved through the house to stand protectively in front of her, sword in hand glaring around the room before his eyes landed on the human girl. He straightened and turned to Yukina, who had taken a step back at Hiei's sudden appearance.

“What happened?” Hiei voice was its quiet normal tone as he stepped back, watching Yukina bending to pick up the pieces of the bowl.

“She was awake. I saw her eyes open, and then they shut and she went back to sleep,” Hurriedly putting the piece on the tray, Yukina's voice took on a bit of excitement from the surprise.

Hiei moved away from her to stand over Kagome, staring down at her for a moment before speaking, “That's not possible; she couldn't have woken up already. She was barely alive just yesterday…”

Pausing, he looked at her bandages. While they had spots on them from dried blood, they had almost no fresh blood and Hiei could only barely smell any open wounds. Moving in a blur, he reached out and ripped some of the bandages off.

“Hiei what are you doing?! She's a woman, you can't just…” Yukina voice faltered as she too looked at the woman.

The wounds had almost completely closed…only small cuts and scratches were left where major wounds had once been, and not even scars marked the places where damage had been done. Hiei's frown deepened as he looked at the woman, and then unwrapped his Jagan eye. It opened, and Hiei took a breath preparing to dive into her mind.

“Hiei you can't use the Jagan, Kurama will be very angry if he finds out you used it on her,” Yukina warned.

“I want to find out what his girl is; she can't be healing like this and only be human. Don't worry; I'll deal with the Fox.”

Hiei focused on Kagome's mind, and began entering her mind. Flashes rushed past him too quickly for him to understand, and then all he could see was blackness. This was something new; Hiei had never known a mind like this one…what was this girl? As he began to concentrate harder to find the answer within her, his head alone heard four voices talking in unison.

“Get out! You're not welcome here…. This one is ours and ours alone.”

“What the Hell…” Hiei could not contain his surprise, speaking the words he'd been thinking aloud, Yukina's eyes widened at hearing them clearly.

But what ever he might have done, thought, or said next never occurred to him as a pink light shot out from Kagome's body and hit Hiei right in his Jagan. His whole body flew backward and straight through the wall that held the door on it, crashing almost through the wall across the hall. He slumped down onto the floor, smoke rising from the Jagan, black angry burn marks all along the edges. The Jagan itself was now closed. Yukina screamed and rushed to Hiei's side, her hands reaching out to touch him only for pink sparks to rise and sting her finger tips.
“Hiei!… Hiei!…. HIEI!!”
