Fantasy's Willful Heart
Chapter Eight:
The Real Reason
Sheila lays against Inuyasha with a sigh, once again taking in the scent that was uniquely his own, “Inuyasha.”
“Hmmm,” he answers sleepy-like, holding her to him under a tree a little ways from the others.
“Thank you,” Sheila snuggles closer, “I would've killed my own sister if you didn't stop me.”
“Not a problem,” he whispers with a light yawn, “you helped me, right?”
She smiles at him brightly, causing him to blush a little, “Yep! And I'd do it again if you ever need me to.”
He glances secretively at Kagome sitting sullenly beside Sango, “You sure about that?”
“Yes,” she hesitantly caresses his cheek, drawing his attention back to her, “all you have to do is ask and I'll do whatever I can.”
He stares into her eyes, lost in her honesty. Inuyasha knows that he's vulnerable. Knows that all her words could just be a set up. But her eyes…
Her eyes speak of honesty beyond the need for words and that almost frightens him.
They both suddenly hear someone clearing their throat and look away from each other reluctantly to glance at Vickie.
“I know you're really not in a good mood,” Vickie says softly, “but I have to talk to you about something very important, Sheila.”
Sheila nods, feeling a little more sad about having to move away from Inuyasha's warm and gentle encirclement than anything else, “Alright,” she gives in, glaring at Kagome as she walks past her with her head up in the air and going towards Inuyasha; taking her place in his arms and even brazenly kissing him for a moment before smiling at Sheila.
“Ignore her,” Vickie growls, a little angry herself, “she always tries to show out like that when she knows she's wrong.”
“Yeah I know,” Sheila pouts at her friend, “I live with her! Wanna trade siblings?”
“Hell no,” Vickie says with a laugh, “my hands are already full with my two brothers, no need to try and deal with the impossible!”
“That's an understatement if I ever heard one,” Sheila smiles, then looks serious once they get far enough away from everyone into the dense forest, “So what's up?”
“I-I have to tell you the truth,” Vickie says, “I wasn't lost in the Present first of all,” she immediately explains, “I knew perfectly well how to get home, but I needed you to follow me here. So I allowed you to believe that I needed you.”
“But why,” Sheila asks, too emotionally exhausted to be angry, “why would you do all of this?”
“I need you to do me an extreme favor.”
“What?”
“I need you to try and get with my brother, Inuyasha.”
“What?!”
“Shhh,” Vickie silences her, “Listen Ok. I know that Kagome is hurting him in some way,” she sighs, “I just can't prove it. So I can only think of one way other than killing her.”
“So you want me to replace her,” Sheila frowns with doubt, “I'm not sure if this is gonna work.”
“Come on Sheila,” Vickie implores hopelessly, “I know you don't really know my brother and I know he can be a real stubborn ass too! But you know as well as I do that he has a heart.”
Sheila suddenly holds herself at remembering his earlier embrace.
“Come on Sheila,” Vickie smiles at her, “you know he deserves better than what that whoring priestess can give him!”
“I know! I know,” Sheila sighs, “Can I have a while to think about it? This is a bit much!”
“OK, take your time…But don't wait too long,” Vickie says, leaving Sheila in the dense forest to think alone about a situation that may change the very fabric of her beliefs and promises to herself.
Must she now give her heart in order to save another?
Sheila wasn't sure she could do that…

Cursed Writer: See? I told you it would be short! And I'm kinda tired, so I told the others to not bother me this time!
Please just review or send flames (yes, I say it right for once) and I would really appreciate if you read the next upcoming chappie!
